Humanity's Code
Description
Kris spent three years coding perfection, but as his code comes to life, Kris realizes that he had thought too simplistically about the program. How much did it take to make something human?
The lines between living and not, human and not were blurring.
Test subject 2034, Zhang Yixing, was real.
Kris had programmed life itself.
Foreword
Kris shuddered as his eyes watched the code displayed in front of him on the large holographic screen shift and rewrite itself. He was unable to stop it. The code was mutating and recoding itself so that it no longer was Kris' creation, but rather, something foreign he had not created.
It was mutating itself into Zhang Yixing.
Kris thought back to the man that smiled simplistically, blissfully unaware of the things that his program was doing, unaware that he even was a program. How was it that something that started out as a simple code could become so vividly real? Kris caught himself wondering whether or not he should continue on with Yixing's program. His eyes continued to drift towards the red terminate button that flashed across the screen.
He could end things before they got too far, but that would mean destroying Yixing and destroying Yixing would meaning losing the bet he had made against Suho. But keeping Yixing's program running would mean sustaining a technology, a code, that was slowly turning pixelated fragments into flesh and bone.
Kris had created a program that could bring the dead back to life. He had taken on the role of God. His code had done what no code had ever done; taken technology to new heights.
Heights that had the potential to destroy the world.
