How did it become like this…

I don’t even know…

I sat down and stared at the ceiling. Slowly tears form two tiny streams down my face. It hit the table and form little drops. I picked up the wine bottle to pour myself another cup but nothing came out…sigh…I got up and threw the bottle against the wall. I pushed everything onto the ground and kicked the chairs.

Servant: Majesty majesty stop please stop don’t hurt yourself.

The guards and maids came in and started cleaning.

I screamed at them with my bloodshot eyes.

“if I still see a person standing in this room when I open my eyes, they shall be killed by my own hands”

Tears still flowing down my face I heard them scramble out as fast as they could. I opened my eyes and picked up the chair. I sat down and buried my head in my arms.

It wasn’t always like this you see. There was a time where I thought my life was complicated but only now I realize just how simple it was.

How simple it was in the past…should I say future actually. My name is Donghae Lee from the 21^st century. I was a college student. It was all so simple so easy…Here’s my story.

 

21^st Century

Eunhyuk: Hae wake up dude we’re going to be late for class

I opened my eyes and saw a pale figure staring over me. Crap…class. I quickly got dressed and got my helmet. Hyuk is my best friend since we were little. We became roommates for college.

I got on my motorcycle and raced Hyuk to school.

Hyuk: er…you should really upgrade your engine

“Yeah yeah hurry up let’s go before the old lady yells at us”

We quickly ran to class and I took my seat in front of this tall girl. She hit me across the head.

Yoona: goood morning..late again

“hehe I’m not late do you see the old lady in the room yet”

She smiled at me and went back to her phone and book. This girl Yoona has always watched out for me in school, always hit me, and was the first girl who shared anything with me.

-ding dong ding dong-

Teacher: ahem please turn to page 47

Just then a girl came running in. I smiled at her when she looked embarrassed at the class. She handed her note to the teacher and scrambled to the back of the class. I turned my head to the side and saw her getting her notes out. This girl…well..this girl…is Jessica. I’ve known her for six years now and it only took me one day to fall in love with her. The first day I saw her in high school, she walked by me to the back and I noticed her. Two weeks later, I found out her name. Two months later, we walked together to lunch. I could go on but you could see what I mean. But she’s never been mine. She was always taken and when I had the chance I would blow it. Right now she’s in this new relationship. We haven’t talked in half a year. This is the first time I saw her in a while. After class she came up to us.

Yoona:-hug- omg Jessica ahhh it’s been so long

Jessica: haha yeah I know how you’ve been

Yoona: okay except I have to see this booger everyday

“come on let’s go or I’m not giving you a ride”

Yoona: fine then no lunch for you

Yoona hugged her again and said bye. I walked to the doorway and smiled at her. I saw her smile back and it made me happy again.

Yoona and I work as interns for my uncle’s company.

Yoona: ahh finally lunchtime..here your box and dessert

“no crust?”

Yoona: omo I forgot

Sunny: you two are like married

Yoona: yea hubby so stop complaining

I just smirked at her and ate my lunch.

Days went by at work until I noticed something the happiness I get from talking to Yoona. The feeling of missing her when she’s gone. She’s the girl who has been here all along that I have never noticed. The one who I had memories with but never cherished. She was always just a friend. I noticed that wasn’t true one day at lunch. I spent the whole time just looking at her. I was in love with her too?....Can I love two people at once? I thought my love for Jessica died after we fell apart but it always burn up when I see her. Here’s my problem…Yoona was also taken by an upperclassman Leeteuk. They have been together for a while but I know at one point Yoona had feelings for me too.

Hyuk: -wiping his drool- damn why do you always like the ones with guys already

I don’t know either. They are both sweet, smart, hardworking, cute with the innocent clumsy charm. I guess that’s my type.

“I don’t know either man…I just love her…”

Hyul: which one?

I don’t know…I looked over the river and at the bridge. This was our drinking spot. The lights were really pretty at night. Very very pretty. I got dizzy all of a sudden and started losing focus. Hyuk passed out already and was sleeping on the bench. I couldn’t get up and lost my balance.

Plop

I looked around scrambling and kicking my feet. Oh did I mention I can’t swim. I looked at the surface and saw the light slowly disappearing. I reached my arms out but there was nothing to grab. Slowly my mouth opened and I lost consciousness.
