Kibum's POV

We were like a pair made in heaven.
He would bring me out whenever I was bored.
He would give me a kiss on the forehead before I go to bed.
He would give me a call every hour to check if I was fine, sometimes its just to annoying but I loved it anyways.

It wasn’t until the day when his ex-girlfriend came back.
The way he looked at her, I knew that he still loved her, yet I chose not to believe it.
The kisses I got in the night gradually became lesser.
The number of calls, the number of I love you/s too.

Few days after we met her, I learnt that she was working in Jinki’s company, and the worst thing was, she was Jinki secretary.
I went to his company and heard things like, “Omo, Jessica and Jinki are so compatible!”, “I bet Jinki and Jessica are couple, its just that they refuse to admit.”
It hurts, it hurts so much.
He always stayed in the office till midnight, while in the past, he would come back at 6.
We never went out that often anymore.
And it was all because Jessica.

Can’t you see she is just trying to seduce you?
I often thought to myself. But I didn’t dare to say it out loud.
After all, she was older than me and I was afraid Jinki would scold me.
Arghh.

Aish, he probably don’t remember that it’s my birthday tomorrow.

Just then, my phone vibrated.

“Honey, meet me outside the amusement park at 7 tomorrow, all right? ^^” the message read.
He did remember after all!
A smile crept onto my face as I replied, “sure, see you there! =D”

I totally can’t wait for tomorrow!
Maybe, Jinki wasn’t with Jessica after all!
I felt so relieved as I laid on my bed anticipating for tomorrow.

The next day, I woke up and looked at my phone.
“WHAT? 58 messages?!”
I opened up the messages one by one and almost all of them said the same thing.
“Happy birthday!” “You are a year older!” “Enjoy your birthday!”
I quickly went to bathe and ate before bidding goodbye to Mother.
I wore a fashionable t-shirt with a pair of white jeans to go with it.

Its only 8 a.m., how am I going to survive the 11 hours?
I groaned in frustration as I walked into the classroom.
I sat down on my seat and looked out of the window.
Jonghyun plopped down on the seat next to mine and I started spazzing over the date Jinki and I would be having later.

Finally, I was dismissed from school.
“Bye Kristal! Bye Jonghyun!” I shouted as I went out of the classroom.

I skipped out of the school happily and went back home.
2 more hours to 7 p.m.!

I got ready for the date once I reached home.
“I can’t wait, I can’t wait!” I texted Jonghyun.

Omo, its 6.30 p.m. already!
I better leave the house now.
I immediately boarded the bus and went to the amusement park.

I looked at my watch and saw it was only 6.45p.m.
Phew, I thought I was late.

“Ahh, where is Jinki? Probably he is caught up with his work, I shall wait for him then.”

“Aish, it has been 30 minutes, where is he?” I said to myself, frustrated that he wasn’t punctual.

“Where is he? It has been an hour!” I complained and tried calling him, but to no avail.

“3 hours and he is not here. Forget it, I am done waiting.” I said, giving up.

I walked aimlessly trying to figure out the way home, the rain was pouring down yet I couldn’t be bothered.
Even if I am lost, I couldn’t be bothered anymore.
I stopped at the building in front of me.

I looked up at the 30th floor, where Jinki’s office was.
The lights were not switched off.
So, he was here all along.

The fabric clung onto my skin and I shivered as I entered the building.
I then took the elevator up to the 30th floor.
“Please, I hope he isn’t doing what I am thinking about.” I prayed under my breath.

Ding! It indicated that I reached the 30th floor, I then walked out of the elevator.
Its empty. Where is everyone?
Oh right, its 10, they shouldn’t be here anyways.
Walking slowly to his office, I found the door slightly ajar.
I pushed the door a little, to see what he was doing.

My worst nightmare came through.
Clothes scattered around the office.
Lying peacefully at the bed that Jinki had, were Jinki and Jessica.

“J-jinki?” I said softly, dropping the bag that I carried.

“Ugh, who is it?” Jinki then saw who was at the door and looked at his right, “Omo, Kibum, its not what you think…”

“Jinki, I saw it clearly with my own eyes. Thanks for making me wait outside the amusement park for 3 hours. I even got wet because of you, and your gift, is totally the best gift for my birthday. You made me realize that a player would forever be a player. This is why I was so hesitant to give you my heart from the beginning of this relationship. I shouldn’t have trusted you. Thanks a lot, Jinki.”

“Look. Kibum, you have to know how to play this game if you wanted to date a player.” Jessica spoke and smirked.

“Right, I don’t know how to play it and I don’t ever want to know.”

“Kibummie, there is always another birthday right?” Jinki said.

“Who said I was gonna spend my next birthday with you?”

“What do you mean, Kibummie?”

“Jinki, I am not so dumb to let the same person break my heart again. Really, and stop calling me that name, we aren’t that close. Jinki, lets break up.” I said, as tears stained my cheeks.

“But, Kibummie, I..I” Jinki said.

“Trust is like a paper, once its crumpled, it can never be perfect again. Treat your girl well, Jinki. Don’t be a player anymore.” I turned and walked away.

I silently swore to myself to never ever trust any players again.
