A week after the prom...Everything seems back to normal.... Except for Kangin... After what happened...He became distant to others and wants to be alone... He also talk less and often quiet at a corner... Something that keeps Rui bothered but still accompanies the latter like nothing happen from the prom.

“Hey oppa... can we talk later??” Rui asked seriously once while working at the restaurant...

Kangin just nodded and went back to work.

After work....

Rui held Kangin’s hand and led them to a arcade... Kangin gave Rui a questioning look when they went near to a basketball game...

“What are we doing here Rui?” Kangin asked her

“What do you think oppa?” Rui smirked as she placed the tokens on the two machines and started shooting the basketball inside the basket.

“Well oppa aren’t you going to play or you’ll just gonna give up and treat me dinner for a week?” Rui said with smirk

Kangin just sighed and started playing... he doesn’t mind treating her for a dinner but what else can he do? He just followed Rui and played thinking that after this Rui will be tired and they will go home... but after the game Rui pulled him to another one as she says “Oppa you’re already tired? It’s just the beginning we’ll be playing all the games here...”

True enough they almost played all the games inside Rui even beat him 4 times in a row in the racing game. After that they went to a nearby grocery store and bought a small cake. Rui even used here puppy eyes attack just to make him agree to buy the chocolate flavored cake.

While walking...

Kangin can’t help but to feel good it’s been a long time since Rui asked him to go out and have fun. He was drowned in his thoughts when Rui stopped in front of a small park.

“What’s wrong Rui?” Kangin asked

She just gave him a gentle smile and entered the park. Of course, Kangin followed her. She sat on a swing and moved it.

“Oppa remember when we we’re just kids? We used to play here with Yesung oppa and the others.” Rui said as she moved the swing higher.

“Yeah, this is also the place where you broke your ankle because of jumping off from a moving swing. I even piggy backed you to a clinic and got scolded by your umma for letting you play that kind of tricks.” Kangin replied with a warm smile. Rui smiled back and jump off from the swing and tripped a little. Kangin chuckled and helped her stood up.

“Well your balance didn’t improved a little also since the incident”

“I know” She giggled

They sat on a park bench and started devouring the cake they bought when Kangin broke the silence by his laugh earning a this-guy-gone-crazy look.

“Yah. Can’t you eat without making yourself messy?” he laughed as he wiped some icing off Rui’s cheeks.

“Well, I can but I don’t care...come on...this cake tastes good” Rui replied as she eat some more.

Kangin can’t help but smile at his best friend’s childish thoughts and resume on eating.

“Finally you’re smiling again” Rui commented as she some icing from her fork.

“Well you can’t fail making me smile Rui-shii” Kangin replied and throw the container at the nearby trash can.

When he came back Rui pushed Kangin’s forehead gently with her forefinger and said “Please oppa don’t make that grumpy face again ok? You looked like you’re going to kill someone” Rui pouted.

“Ne. Now let’s go home before I get scolded by your mom again.” Kangin answered and held her hand

“Then can you come with me walk Autumn (Rui’s dog) around tonight?” Rui invited him earning a nod from the latter.

When they reached Rui’s house Kangin hugged her and said “I’ll fetch you up after dinner ok?” then left.

RUI’S POV

I’m happy that Kangin oppa is back to normal now... My mission is complete... Finally I can see him smile again before I leave the country... I sighed as I pick up autumn and tied her. Yeah, I’m thinking of leaving the country. I was grant a scholarship in Japan... but everyone doesn’t know about it yet, not even my mom. When Kangin arrived I kissed my mom goodnight and left. We walked around and decided to rest at the nearby river bank. I took Autumn’s collar off and set her free for a while as me and Youngwoon chatted some stuff. I look at him as he narrate some stuff... it was fun being his best friend for almost a decade and a half... together in the sad and fun times... being separated from him will be hardest thing that I will do in my entire life... when we reached my house I kissed him on the cheek and enter the house... Oppa, can we be more than what we are now?

END POV

A week after the summer vacation started, Kangin woke up with a big smile on his face. He will be meeting the others at the Café house later to celebrate Eunna’s birthday. He immediately do his morning routine, get dressed, and run down stairs. After grabbing his breakfast, Kangin kissed his mom goodbye and left. He rushed to the Café house. When he arrived, he saw Jekyo, Siwon, and Hyukjae waiting for him. Eunhyun and Rui will be accompanying Eunna for a while as they plan and get ready for the surprise party. After planning the things that they’ll be doing for the party they went to the Grocery to buy the stuff that they’ll be using. When they were about to leave Jekyo went near to Kangin and gave him his wallet that fell. Kangin thanked Jekyo and opened the wallet to see if there’s something missing.

Jekyo looked at Kangin’s wallet picture and said “Wow oppa that picture is really nice. You and Rui looked good together on the picture.” Kangin looked at the picture that Jekyo mentioned and said “I... I didn’t put that picture in there before” and took the picture out from its pocket. It’s a picture of him and Rui together with Autumn at the center being hugged by Rui. Hyukjae and Siwon went near to the two and looked at the picture. Just then Siwon saw a piece of paper attached at the back of the picture. He mentioned it to Kangin and he flipped it around to see the paper. He detached it from the picture and read it. A surprise look appeared on his face making the others curious about what the letter tells. They scooted closer to Kangin and also read the letter...

[What the letter says:

“I love you” these were the words that I want to say to you... but the thought of I’m just your little sister always run in my mind. So I just keep it inside my heart... It’s hard for me to express my feelings to others you know that especially to the person who became special to me. So I decided to be Sungmin oppa’s girlfriend to forget this feeling... to forget you... but it didn’t worked. Until Sungmin broke up with me. I cried that time not because of Sungmin and Kyuhyun oppa but because of you being insensitive... Then one time, Eunna and Eunhyun told me that you have feelings for me too... that we feel the same for each other... You know what... it made my heart skipped a beat. At the prom, I thought you will gonna confess to me just like what they said... but you didn’t, so I decided to write this letter to let you know my answer if you confessed to me....

“Only me and you forever, I want to accept your feelings and be connected to you forever... please don’t change and love me even my uncute and wrinkled face when I get old.... Nadu saranghae oppa...

Everyone smiled at me when they finished reading it.... Kangin called Eunhyun at once and talk to Rui.

Eunhyun: Yeobosaeyo?

Kangin: Eunhyun-shii?

Eunhyun: Yes oppa?

Kangin: Is Rui there?

Eunhyun: She’s not here oppa

Kangin: Do you know where she is?

Eunhyun: She’s at the airport now wae?

Kangin: what is she doing there?

Eunna:*at the background* unnie Rui’s with Kyuhyun and Sungmin oppa right? What country will they’ll be going?

Eunhyun: Yeah, Rui’s with them... to japan

Kangin: MWO?!!!

Then the line was cut off... Eunhyun want to ask Kangin but he disappeared and just hung the phone up.

Kangin misunderstood and immediately rode a cab to the airport. When he reached he immediately search for her and asked a staff at the front desk of the plane to Japan already left and relaxed a little when the staff said that it didn’t leave yet. He started searching again and found Rui together with Kyuhyun and Sungmin sitting at the waiting area. Sungmin saw him and told the other two with surprised look on their faces.

“Maybe we should enter... you two should talk...” Kyuhyun said and left with Sungmin.

“Are you ok oppa? What happened?” Rui asked worriedly as she wiped the sweat on Kangin’s pale face. But Kangin didn’t care anymore and hug the latter securely in his arms. Rui blushed but didn’t struggle. She felt comfortable in Kangin’s arms.

“You said that you love me but you will leave me here alone.” Kangin said as he nuzzle his face in Rui’s hair

“I thought it will take you a decade to notice the picture and the letter.” Rui replied

“Don’t leave me tan-tan, don’t leave me... I love you... I love you so much Rui... Since I first saw you... at the back of the school...and it never disappeared... I love you... stay with me.....” Kangin confessed.

Rui pulled away and smiled. She then gave Kangin a peck on the lips and said “Does that give you an answer?” She blushed. Kangin smiled and hugged Rui tight.
