Melting The Ice

Description

It has been a year when the strong leader of After School, Kahi left the group to pursue her solo career. A new addition was added once more in the group after Eyoung and that was Lee Kaeun. It was tough for the rest of the members when their faux father left the group. Tears were pouring during their concert in Japan. They are been grateful to their leader, Kahi. Although in the midst of hardships, she didn't let the group to fall in depression. All of them know how challenging to be in idol life since they've experience it themselves. They don't often see their parents and if they have the chance to see them. That would be if they are given time or vacation to at least visit them, but that won't be for long and they have to go back to their lives back into the spot light. Jung Ah who is now the leader of the group is really grateful to her. If it wasn't because of her, she wouldn't be here where she is now. She once told in some variety shows that she wasn't or not been good when it came to dancing. Only Kahi told her not to give up and taught her how to dance. Her leave is really hard to accept in her part. Since, they've started this group with her and knowing her leave is one big obstacle for them and for her. But there is one blonde who was really affected her to the extent. Kahi who really loves that person the best in the group. The cold, stoic, aloof person in After Schol. Yet, she's able to draw your attention even though without putting too much effort unlike the other membes with just a smile and a little reaction that displays on her face. The people who called her as an Ice princess, because of her straight face, and her cold appearance. Is none other than Im Nana, the visual, main dancer, and sub vocal of After School. She doesn't display too much expression unlike her opposite Lizzy, a year younger than her. That day, the former leader was called to the After School's dorm. The other older members had started messing up their place. She is happy to see them happy and has moved on from that unforgettable day. Jung Ah stood in the middle of the living room while a scowl was already forming.

"Yah! Lee Jooyeon stop chasing Yu Jin and put that paint brush down in your hand."

Uee who had black paint on the other half of her face ran away from her chaser. The one older girl in the group, Jooyeon dipped the paint brush in the tin can of red paint and dashed to the taller girl. Jooyeon made a huge grin on her face and Uee's eyes almost bulged out to see the brush soaked in red paint. Jung Ah discreetly slapped her fore head and wondered where Jooyeon get those stuff and started spreading the paint's drop on the floor. She couldn't remember having one at their dorm and sighed. Raina sat comfortably next to Kaeun's sleeping body and beside the stoic girl. Kaeun was sleeping so soundly on the couch even though of the noise that Jooyeon and Uee were making. That didn't irk the girl from her sleep since she was a deep sleeper. Eyoung watched some tv programs that morning whilst the fact that the two were messing up the house. Lizzy was curled into a ball on the floor while her eyes shut closed in front of Nana and tried to ignore the two trouble makers in the dorm. She should be sleeping in her room, but she didn't want to oppose to her unnie and especially Kahi. Although Jung Ah now is the leader of the group, but she can't can't stay mad for too long. Because she is too kind to her kids unlike Kahi will do everything to correct her kids mistake and that's why she received the title, Appa instead while Jung Ah as Omma. Since her leave no one is disciplining the younger members like what is happening to them right now. No one does it and Jung Ah is out of the picture, because no one's listening to her. Kahi is the only one who could stop the members from going wild. Kahi and Jung Ah called them out in the living room, because they wanna make sure that no one would be missing after they catch the two. Nana sat silently on the end of the couch while giving glances to her faux father. The blonde didn't say a thing since the older woman stepped her foot in their dorm. She remained silent until now and watched the older woman putting a frown already on her face.

"What happen to those two?" Kahi asked and used her arm to brush those sweats on her fore head. "Did those two ate something that made them hyper?" Jung Ah dropped her arms on her side comically and sighed out through out her nostril. The leader could only do was shrugged and searched for the troll and the tallest visual of After School; Kahi followed suit. The long chase was finally ended, the two trouble makers sat on the floor with sulking faces.

"That's it you two! You're the oldest next to Jung Ah, but one of the big problem makers to this group." Kahi scolded them. Jooyeon and Uee mouths shut and Jupal made an eye contact to the taller girl. Uee only sighed. Kahi  sat on the floor ungracefully while Jung Ah sat beside her in lady like way. She could see the tiredness on the older's eyes and caressed Kahi's small back to try to lessen tiredness out of Kahi's system. Kahi glanced over to their kids and counted them as six.

"Six, finally I think we're done for the day, Jung Ah." The chase took an hour to put it a stop. The troll of the group ran like Flash from the character of Justice League not wanting to be caught with their scary former leader. Uee got caught so easily since she slipped because of the paint decorating the floor made by Jooyeon. Even for an athletic girl like Uee if it wasn't for Jooyeon's mess, she wouldn't be caught by them. The former and the leader made up a strategy to catch the most trouble making person in After School. At first, Jung Ah doesn't agree with Kahi, but she agrees with her, because she can feel her back is in pain already. It worked and put Jooyeon beside Uee. Jung Ah poked the older woman's cheek. Kahi lazily looked up to her former member with a narrowed look.

"Unnie," Jung Ah said with a pout on her pink lips. The former strong leader of After School raised a brow at her with a questionable look on her face.

"What are you pouting about?" Jung Ah didn't answer and hoping the older woman catch up. She looked at the girls in the living room once again. She groaned loudly and slammed her hand on the cold floor.

"One's missing!" She stood from her spot and began searching for that missing person. Their favourite child is missing. Jung Ah followed Kahi again to find the model like girl.

"Joo, I guess it didn't work after all?" Uee spoke in a lower tone. Jooyeon let out a small smile and hugged the girl with two sorts of paint colours on her face. Lizzy was listening to them, but prefered not to mingle with their conversation. Lizzy knows it well that they are doing this for Nana. This is how they show their love for their dongsaeng. Even though sometimes it makes you feel that they are troublesome, but they are really kind people. Since their former leader left, the blonde began displaying and giving the coldest shoulder ever most to everyone. Although she acts as if nothing's wrong in variety shows. Lizzy knows it well that inside she is in pain. Lizzy knows it also that she's so attached to Kahi which she can't replace the older's power to take her attention from Nana. She wish, she could help the ice princess of the group, but whatever she did. That didn't help a bit or tried to even melt the barrier within the barbie like figure of After School. Lizzy and Nana shares the same room and when every body are asleep. The beagle of the group witnessed it, but never dared to approach the girl. Nana cries sometimes in the middle of the night. She just wished that she could make her happy like what the older woman's does. She envy their former leader like how she can melt the ice within her. She just couldn't understand it. Yes, she is like the happy virus of the group as if she was born to be an entertainer. Her voice added more to make the cast laugh with her actions and responses. But it seems like Nana doesn't get affected with her funny and ridiculous acts when they are in variety shows. She would either smile so weakly and let out a soft giggled. Unlike the others members were almost rolling on the floor laughing while holding their hands on their stomach. She's giving her all only not to gained attention from her which it hurts her. Sometimes she feels like she doesn't exist within her radius of awareness. And yes, Lizzy harbor feelings for the blonde, but she sees that Nana would likely push her away. So she keeps it from the other members and admires the blonde from afar.

Kahi and Jung Ah went to each of one's room, but to get an answer. The room is empty. They went out of the dorm to search for her around the vicinity of the house. Only to get the same answer and there's no blonde around.

"Where Nana could be?" Kahi said.

They went back again inside and made their way to the laundry. The older woman opened the washing machine and peeked inside. Jung Ah smacked her cheeks and shook her head.

"Unnie! How could Nana fits there?" She didn't know whether Kahi was pulling a joke or not. Since she is a joker herself like Lizzy. She answered her.

"I remembered she told me that she could hide to small places when she was a little."

Jung Ah display a what the hell face, but Kahi was too busy looking for her favourite daughter to notice it. She opened the dryer next and found an empty one also. Jung Ah didn't speak more and she could tell that she was so serious. She opened the boxes around them one by one and they met nothing inside them. Jung Ah sighed and pulled her out of the laundry room. The only room that they haven't checked yet is Kahi's. They used that room as their stock room for their stuff that they rarely use. Kahi opened the door slowly and stopped when she heard some was there.

"Do you think she will stay here if I don't go out?" A voice said and Kahi was sure it was Nana's voice. The girl sniffed and the older woman watched her secretly in the small of crack of the door. Jung Ah was about to pushed the door to check whether someone was inside when she raised a hand stopping her from her next action. Kahi put her index finger on her lips and telling her companion to be quiet. Jung Ah began to eavesdrop instead.

"S-She promised to pay a visit to our d-dorm or at least call us, but she didn't." She could hear the sadness in her voice. Kahi watched her with sadness written on her face. She saw that she was sitting next to the boxes while a cat was sitting on her leg. Probably Kaeun's cat. Giving a few on the head while waiting for a wordly answer from the animal. Jung Ah heard this and took a little peek to see her wiping off the tears from her pale cheeks. Her lips curled upwards to see Kahi's daughter crying because of her. The old former leader blindsided the poor blonde about her leaving. She just wished that she didn't and that hurt the girl more.

"She only came when Jung Ah unnie called her." Jung Ah noticed that Kahi was crying and used her sleeves to dry up the tears. Kahi pushed the door and that startled the girl inside.

"Yah! Im Nana you got us worried." Nana simply smiled so weakly.

Kahi left before lunch came and said good bye to her former members. While spending their leisure time at the dorm and the trouble makers started cleaning up suddenly a call from their manager made the other members go to their pledis office. Nana and Lizzy were left by themselves in their room. Lizzy was watching Reply 1997 while Nana was sitting there staring blankly on the wall. Lizzy turned off the tv. The younger girl couldn't ignore her anymore longer. Then she went to her bed and sat next to her.

"Unnie, will you be like this forever?" Nana looked at her with those cold eyes of hers. Lizzy tried to ignore her reddened cheeks and waited for her answer.

"Lizzy, I'm ok it just." She stopped and returned back to her staring. "I don't talk too much." Lizzy bit her lower lip and sighed.

"I can't stand you seeing you like this. I really missed the Nana back then. H-Her smiles and her adorable laugh. I really missed hearing her happy voice." She stopped. "I wish I could be Kahi unnie and put a smile on your face."

"Lizzy stop,"

"Nana, please move on don't you worry for the other members? Like the unnies are doing anything to make you happy?"

"Please stop," She said coldly not even looking at the girl beside her.

"Didn't you know that Jooyeon and Uee unnie had to do all that to bring someone that you really miss so much?" Nana remained silent and didn't want to answer the younger. "Maybe there's a reason why Kahi unnie rarely visits and call us anymore. It might that she's busy." Lizzy gave her reasons even though she didn't know actually what their former leader had in her life after she left the group. "I'm also here and be your best friend if you want to where you can cry a shoulder on when you need it. Please don't keep it to yourself." Lizzy mumbled, but the older girl heard this. A silence surrounded them and no one didn't say a thing. Lizzy shook her head slowly and was about to leave the blonde by herself when a hand gripped on her wrist. Nana held her wrist looking like a little kid while facing her left side.

"Unnie?"

"P-Please don't go." Nana gulped and pulled her to her bed to sit. Lizzy was about to respond when the blonde gave her a back hug. The latter could feel her heart race at the sudden action that the blonde made. "I-I'm sorry." The only word she said and burried her face on the crook of the latter's neck. Lizzy smiled and placed her hand over on Nana's.

"I will be always here for you." Lizzy said. Nana surpressed the tears from falling, because she didn't want to show how fragile she was in front of her. She didn't want to look weak especially to her. She just couldn't bring herself to do it and remained silent.

The next morning, Lizzy woke up from her sleep and what surprised her when she saw the blonde staring and smiling at her. She shut her eyes once more to make sure that she wasn't dreaming. Upon opening her eyes, the blonde greeted her.

"G-Good Morning," She said.

"G-G-Good Morning," She answered.

"Why are you staring at me like that?" Nana pouted at her. She just couldn't believe to see her smiling and pouting at her. It's been so long to see her like that especially in front of her.

"It's just I just don't know if I'm dreaming or not." Nana pinched her cheeks and Lizzy let out a groaned. Finally, she believed that she wasn't dreaming.

"I'm sorry," She said.

"Why are you apologizing? It's fine." Lizzy put a smile on her face.

"It's not that. I-I finally realize that the unnies are there for us, but I simply ignored it. Then didn't give consideration to them." Lizzy hugged her and caressed the back of her head.

"Don't think too much, " Lizzy said.

"Lizzy let's go now we don't want to miss breakfast aren't we?" Lizzy released her hold and smiled at her. The blonde held her hand and Lizzy blushed. Then they went out to their room.

The two of them, began to get closer and Nana began to smile more than usual. The other members are happy to see that the blonde is starting to open up again. She became talkative than before and started to hang out with the other members. Lizzy was glad that she could finally put a smile on her lips. The barrier between them is slowly melting. One day, they are left at the dorm by themselves. It was summer and the other members were called for a photoshoot. They did their part last week, so they were free that day. They were sitting on the balcony as they watched the cloudy sky silently and they were enjoying the breeze around them. Nana placed her hand over to Lizzy's. That made the younger girl to look at her and she could feel her cheeks heating up already. Nana stared at her while showing her eye smiles that never failed Lizzy to feel her heart pumped so fast. Suddenly, Nana entwined their hands and Lizzy looked away.

"Lizzy ah,"

"Y-Yeah?" She didn't expect what happened next and she felt Nana's lips on her cheeks. She received a kiss from the person she loves. Lizzy thought if she was an anime a smoke was already coming out from her ears. While she could compare her face to a tomato.

"Thank you,"

"It's ah no probl-blem." Nana giggled and Lizzy looked at her to see her happily.

Although Lizzy wanted to be more than a friend to her. She tried to ignore her feelings for the blonde. She was already satisfied to see her back to her normal self like when Kahi was their leader. She was more than happy that they became really close than before. Nana tugged her hand and pulled her to sit much closer to her. The next thing what the blonde said made her really happy and she told herself that she could finally die. She whispered to her ear and slowly let out the words from her lips.

"Park Sooyoung," Lizzy gulped. "You make me feel complete when you're with me." She paused and continued. "I-I love you, Sooyoung." Lizzy turned to face her with a shock expression and Nana closed the gap. Then Lizzy closed her eyes in happiness.
