Sketchbook [D-500 One-shot]

Sketchbook: Epilogue

Somewhere in the middle of South Korea, there was a young man kneeling in front of a grave that had been there for four years now. Never did he expect that this person would leave him someday. He thought that this person would always be with him, for all eternity. But he found out that eternity... Never really existed.

Tears began to form in his eyes and grazed down from his cheeks to fall on the ground he was kneeling on. As much as he wanted to be strong for this person, whenever he comes near this specific gravestone, he couldn’t help but be sad and depressed. He trusted the person; he loved the person unlike any other. Scratch that, he still loves the person even after four years, and it’s still going strong.

“Jagiya~ Are you okay?” A woman’s voice could be heard nearing Yonghwa from the back. He wiped away the tears on his cheeks with the back of his hands.

“De yeobo… I’m okay.” He reassured the woman of his life, as he stood up and took a good look at the engravings on the gravestone one last time.

The person died on the 27th of May, four years ago. He just couldn’t believe that this person would ever leave him. He didn’t see any signs of struggle or pain in them whenever he would visit this person. But then again, life is unexpected. And boy, did life play around with him those four years ago.

“You can cry some more if you want.” The woman locked arms with him and tried to lift up the depressing atmosphere.

“Hehehehe… I guess.”

Four years ago, Yonghwa remembered how he had wanted to follow this person along to heaven. But then, when he remembered how this person would get angry if he ever did so, he just laughed at the bittersweet memories. He also remembered how this person told him to be happy, and find a girl that he would truly love and even jokingly told him to have babies with her.

He remembered how he survived that fatal accident that he almost caused other lives to be dragged along with him.

Don’t worry Seohyun, I’m coming, he thought as he smiled with tears in his eyes and looked up above to the sky.

After learning from his father that Seohyun had died last night, he couldn’t help from running away from the hospital. Her room had too many memories, bittersweet ones, tied down to it. In fact, wherever he looked, to the bookstore two blocks away, the café at the corner of the street, and the instrument store in front of the hospital, all he could remember was Seohyun. And that made it worse than it already is.

He couldn’t think after learning that she died. He couldn’t breathe normally. It was as if his lungs were being crushed by an unknown force. He didn’t even know that he was now standing in the middle of a road on a green light. And he didn’t even know that she was going to leave him, so that justifies him not knowing that he was planning on killing himself.

“Yonghwa-ssi!” A lady grabbed him and pulled him to the sidewalk.

It was as if this person’s pull not only pulled him physically out of the way, but pulled him back to reality.

The lady was panting, as she looked like she ran a marathon. Yonghwa could only look at the ground as tears started falling from his eyes and eventually fell on the pavement.

“She’s gone. She… left me. I didn’t want that. She told me that she loves me and she even told me that she’s going to tell me she loves me until I get tired of it. Pabo Seohyun. There was no way I was going to ever get tired of that, or her…” He confessed to the lady who just saved him from ending his life.

The lady looked at the mess he almost caused. Good thing the truck stepped on the brakes and stirred a little to the left. He avoided crashing into other cars and his load only met with the light post. She thought that tons of people would get dragged into this, and she heaved a sigh as she looked and it seemed as if nobody got hurt, just the cars.

She then looked at Yonghwa who hugged his legs near his chest and buried his head in between as he cried out all the sadness and grief that he felt.

She couldn’t help but feel sorry for the guy. She could see just how much the man loves Seohyun, and that was when she decided. It was her choice whether he should let him live in grief, or in happiness. And she chose the latter.

“Yonghwa-ssi… Your father… What he said… wasn’t true.” Yonghwa perked his head up, with tears still in his eyes and was in disbelief. How could what his father just said not be true? Her room was clean, her stuff was nowhere to be found, and even her letter. How could there be anything that could turn this turn of events into a happy one?

“What do you mean?” He looked at the head nurse of his father’s hospital through teary eyes. He could see that the lady was biting her lip, as if pondering whether to continue on or if she was in pain. The head nurse had been working at his dad’s hospital for more than four years, and he remembered, that the nurse was the only one who stood by Seohyun all those years that she stayed in the hospital.

“Your father talked to Seohyun-ah about leaving you alone. Your father found out that you two were more than friends, and he thought that it was going to be in the way of you taking over his business. He thought that she was a distraction.”

She gulped and continued on.

“He talked to her last night, after you came back from your date. He wanted her to leave you alone, or if not, he would disinherit and abandon you out in the streets. Seohyun, being the kind-hearted girl that she was, didn’t want that. And in all the years that I’ve been with her, I knew what she was thinking. She wasn’t only thinking of your sake, but she was also thinking that she didn’t deserve someone like you. She didn’t deserve to be in your presence, was what she told me after the talk with your father.”

Yonghwa couldn’t believe his ears. Not only did his father rid him of his freedom, and he even tried to destroy his chance at happiness. And the fact that Yonghwa already agreed to taking over his business wasn’t enough for his father, he sought out to get rid of Seohyun. Yonghwa was angry. No, he was furious. How could his father do something as despicable as this? Wasn’t agreeing to take over enough for him? Yonghwa could only bite his lips and shiver his hands and body in anger as the lady continued on.

“And she moved to another hospital. Your father had her move to another hospital. I don’t know the name of the hospital. Your father was the one who took care of Seohyun’s papers. But by the time you came, they already left. Seohyun was forced to leave you Yonghwa-ssi. Not because she didn’t love you, but because your father forced her to.”

Yonghwa was infuriated. He couldn’t believe what his father did. And as if his body had a mind of his own, he stood up and rushed back to the hospital. He planned on confronting his father. He didn’t care whether or not he was going to disinherit him or throw him out in the streets. He’ll deal with that later, but for now, he wanted to find Seohyun. He needed her. No, he wanted her back. He wanted her back badly, and he wasn’t going to stop until he finds her. And not even his father was going to stop him.

He opened the door to the director’s office and saw his father laughing into the phone. When he saw Yonghwa’s glare, he excused himself from the call, ended it and set it aside for a while.

“Yonghwa, are you okay?”

“Don’t you ing ask me if I’m okay.”

Yonghwa’s glare could kill anybody, and if it was legal, he would love to do so to the person in front of him.

“Don’t you dare raise your voice and curse at me, you ungrateful little brat!” He raised his hand, ready to slap him, until Yonghwa caught it in his left hand and squeezed it quiet aggressively.

“I don’t care if you disinherit me or throw me out. I DON’T ING GIVE A DAMN!! TELL ME WHERE SEOHYUN IS OR I’LL EXPOSE TO THE PUBLIC ALL THE ILLEGAL SMUGGLING YOU’VE BEEN DOING!” He shouted as he squeezed the man’s wrist even tighter, wherein he was now slithering in pain, but his pride was in the way and when Yonghwa was angry, he would do anything to get the answer he needed, and boy, was he planning on doing anything.

“THERE’S NO ING WAY I’LL GIVE IT TO YOU, YOU ING SORRY EXCUSE OF A SON!” He was about to slap Yonghwa with his free hand but was caught yet again, and was Yonghwa really furious.

“If you don’t tell me where she is, I’ll do whatever it takes to find out, and more. I’ll do whatever it takes for you to suffer, after all those years that you tortured me. All those years of being alone in the house, of being punched to almost bleed to death, and to all those times that you never looked at me as a son, but as a toy. I could go on and on about everything you did to me. But I endured all of those, because I thought there was at least a hint of kindness in you. I believed that, until today. Never have I seen you in a way that would hate me to even know you. I still considered you my biological father before, but now, I’m ing ashamed I’m even breathing the same air as you.” Yonghwa glared at him as if he was bearing a hole in him.

“When I was all alone in this world, Seohyun was the one who looked at me. The real me. Seohyun was the reason I began to hope that life was worth living. And what did you do? You… YOU ING TOOK HER AWAY FROM ME! You have your money, your status and all that ! And since you took her away from me, I’ll do whatever it takes for you to be rid of all that you’re proud of and live in agony, just like what you did to me.”

His father was now shivering in fear at his son. Never had he seen his son that angry, and never had he been so scared of somebody. Yonghwa let go of his wrists and went through the papers in his table.

Yonghwa saw what he was looking for, took it and left the room, but not without slamming the door. He went by Seohyun’s room to take her sketchbook with him.

All his father could do was fall down to kneel on the ground and let out a sigh of relief. He thought that his son was going to kill him then and there. He had seen his son angry before, but this time, it was more than all of those times combines. He tried to stop his body from shivering as he his angry face was now imprinted in his mind.

Yonghwa climbed on the driver’s seat of his car and pulled out the piece of paper inside the manila folder.

He immediately recognized the name and address of the hospital and quickly drove off to where it was.

On the way there, he had contemplated on what he had just done. He had let out all of his emotions that built up the whole 19 years of his life to his father. And was it relieving. It was as if all the weight on his shoulders had been lifted and it felt as if he could breath again. And the only thing that could make it complete was having Seohyun by his side.

He arrived within 10 minutes and he quickly made his way out of the car and into the building. He walked to the counter and quickly asked them what room Seohyun was. He had never felt so giddy and anxious to see somebody in a hospital.

As he made his way through the halls, he remembered how he first hated hospitals. How he always felt light-headed whenever he was in one. But now, he didn’t. In fact, it was the opposite. He was happy, since now, he had happy memories of the hospital. It was the happiest of his memories, and he wasn’t going to forget it anytime soon.

The nurse halted to a door with the same nameplate that he would always look at the past four weeks. Seo Joo Hyun.

The nurse then left him to his own and Yonghwa took a deep breath as he opened the door.

And there she was. His Seo Joo Hyun and in all the beauty she beholds. Yonghwa laughed inside when he remembered that the picture that he was looking at was the same one that he saw on the first day of their meeting. It had already been four weeks and never did he expect that those four weeks would change his, and her life.

“Seohyun…”

Seohyun remembered that voice clearly. In her years of being blind, she had learned how to identify people through their voices, and this voice only belonged to one person, her Yonghwa.

“O…Oppa!” Tears fell down from her eyes as she reached out her arms to him. Yonghwa hurriedly ran to her and scooped her in his arms and lifted her up in his embrace.

“Oppa! I missed you!” She said through her muffled teary voice as she buried her face in the crook of his neck. A tear started to escape Yonghwa’s eyes as he inhaled in the scent of his one and only girl.

“I missed you too baby~” He playfully said, and Seohyun could only slap his arms. How could he be such a party pooper at a moment like this?

“Aish… What was that for?” He said as he leaned back and looked at her. How he had missed that face, that smile, those eyes, and that laugh, even if he had only been separated from her for a day. But it felt as if they were separated for 10 years and was now happily back in each other’s arms.

“Oppa, wanna know something? I could see again!”

“Ah chincha?! Could you finally see just how handsome I am now?!” He cupped her face to look at his and she nodded, but not without slapping his arm first. She giggled and Yonghwa couldn’t help but grin at her.

“Oppa… I’m sorry. I’m never going to leave you again, I promise.” She said as tears trickled down her cheeks while flashing him a faint smile.

“Aish… No need to be sorry. Besides, didn’t I tell you last night that I wouldn’t be letting you go anytime soon? And by anytime soon, I mean forever, pabo.” He said as he showered her with butterfly kisses, and then settling his lips gently on hers.

“Oppa… I love you. A whole lot.” Seohyun put her forehead to his and they were now looking into each other’s eyes.

“Pabo… I love you too. More than you will ever love me.” He quickly kissed her on the lips before looking at her again and nuzzling his face on her neck.

“No… I love you more.”

“No, I do.”

“No, me.”

“No, me.”

“Me.”

“Me.”

“Aish… I give up. Why don’t you ever let me win at this game?” Yonghwa leaned back to look at his goddess.

“Cause it’s the truth.” He said as he kissed her nose and put her down on the bed.

“Eww… Choding! Mushy as ever!” She laughed as she playfully hit his arm.

“Only for you…” He said as he wrapped his arms around her tiny waist and pulled her closer.

“Aye… Mushy…” She said as she curled her fingers, indicating that not only was it embarrassing, it was too mushy. She wrapped her arms around his neck and pulled him into a quick kiss.

“Ahhhh! That was too quick! Did you know how much I’ve been looking forward to us making out when I found out where you were?” He grinned.

“Ah! Byuntae!” She hit his arm again for the umpteenth time.

“Why is it that you keep on slapping my arm? Someday, you’ll pay when my arms gets dislocated or better yet, if it suddenly falls off.”

“Don’t worry, I’ll be more than happy to pay you in a different way.” She grinned at him as she put her nose in front of his.

“Oh! Me like!”

“I got it from my byuntae of a boyfriend anyways.”

“Just a boyfriend?” He pouted like a little kid and she laughed at how cute he looked.

“Well, if you propose to me right now, I’ll think about it.”

Just then, Yonghwa got down on one knee and looked at Seohyun with sincere eyes.

Seohyun couldn’t believe her eyes, as she didn’t see this coming. She was only joking when she said that, but she didn’t expect anything like this. Tears formed in her eyes as Yonghwa began with his speech.

“Uhh Seohyun, this is my first time proposing so it might not be the best one out there, but I assure you, it’ll be the first and last that you’ll ever be hearing from any guy out there.”

Seohyun giggled.

“I know we’ve only been together for four weeks, and officially as a couple for only a day, but in that short span of time, you have taught me how to look at the world in a new light. And you also taught me how to love. And boy, when I was walking through the halls the first day we met, never had I expected that after four weeks, I would be kneeling in front of you right now, proposing. But if I were to turn back time and go back to that day, I would be more than happy to endure all the pain and happiness with you if it means being able to be with you again in the end.”

Seohyun’s tears couldn’t stop from falling. Not that she was sad or in pain, but she was happy. She had never been happier in her whole life before.

“And I know there’s no logical reason as to why I should propose to you even though we’ve only been a couple for a day, but from that one day, I saw just how much I love you and how much I want to be with you. How I want to wake up to you in the morning, how I want us to brush our teeth together in the morning, how I want to walk into the living room seeing you in my T-Shirt and making breakfast, how I want us to worry over the bills together, how I want us to go to the gynecologist to check up on our 4th baby, and how I want us to still be in each other’s arms even if we both grow old and wrinkly.”

Seohyun couldn’t help but laugh at his proposal. It wasn’t that it was laughable and funny, but how she had also wanted to do all of those with him, the moment she realized that she loves him.

“I can’t put to words just how much you mean to me Seohyun. If I could, I would write tons of novels just as long as I could express to you just how much I love you, but I can’t. But I do know of a way I could try showing it to you for forever to come.”

He pulled out the velvet box that had been hiding in his pocket the whole day and opened it.

“Seo Joohyun, will you take this byuntae of a one-day boyfriend of yours as your husband, for as long as forever?”

Seohyun couldn’t contain her happiness and how choding he was even when he was proposing.

“Aigoo… Jung Yonghwa, from the looks of your speech just now, I thought you’d never ask.” She cupped his face and kissed him on the lips as she wrapped her arms around his neck. Yonghwa stood up from where he was kneeling and lifted Seohyun into his embrace while taking out the ring from the box and slipping it on her left ring finger.

“Aigoo… It fits just perfectly. And boy, does it look perfect on yours.” He snickered as he pulled her into another round of senseless kissing.

“Cause I’m the only one whose finger fits the ring, am I right jagiya~?”

“Of course yeobo~ you and only you, alone.” He put their foreheads together as he stared into her eyes lovingly.

“I love you.”

“I love you too.”

Yonghwa's grandfather died four years ago. He was the only one who Yonghwa trusted before he met his wife. He didn't expect his grandfather to die, but deep inside, he actually did. He smiled as he catched up with his wife.

“Yeobo~” Yonghwa playfully called out his wife’s name as he wrapped his arms around her waist from the back.

“Wae?” She playfully answered back as they both walked along the stone path leading towards their car.

“I love you.” He nuzzled his face into her neck while she giggled at how choding he could get.

“I love you too.”

“Yeobo~”

“Wae?”

“I want us to have our 3rd baby later on. Are you up for it?”

“Aish…” She flared her nose and Yonghwa couldn’t help but grin.

“So I guess that’s a yes?” He lifted his head up to rest his chin on her shoulder.

“Umma! Appa!” Two look-alike kids came running to the two as they both hugged their mother’s legs.

“Omo, these two. Chohee-yah, Hyunki-yah, I have good news! You’ll both be a big sister and big brother sooner or later!” Seohyun could only stare at him at disbelief. She hadn’t said anything to him yet and here he was, deciding on his own. But she didn’t mind at all.

“Yay! Little sister!” The little girl said as she jumped up and down.

“Nuh-uh! Little brother!”

“Sister!”

“Brother!”

“SISTER!”

“BROTHER!”

“Chohee-yah! Where is your other shoe? And Hyunki-yah! What is that inside your fist? Stop fighting! Aish… These two.” The two kids ran off towards the car.

“Ah, just let them be. They’re kids after all.” Yonghwa said as he put his hands over his wife’s shoulders and pulled her closer to him.

“What do you mean? Di-“ She was cut off by him kissing her. Over the past four years that they had been together, she had gotten used to him kissing her out of the blue, and not that she didn’t like it, but sometimes he would do it in inappropriate settings wherein people would look at them, and she felt embarrassed during those times. This time though, nobody else but them were in the cemetery, so she let him off this time.

Seohyun wrapped her arms around Yonghwa’s neck and pulled him closer. He grinned into the kiss and wrapped his arms around her waist and pulled her even closer.

“Yah, my buin is getting aggressive. I like where this is going.” He wiggled his eyebrows at her.

“Aish… Let’s just get in the car. You said you want to have another baby right? It’s already 5 pm and the twins need to get ready for bed.”

“Ah! Chincha?!” He lifted her up in the air and swiveled her around.

“Put me down!” Yonghwa laughed and he did as he was told, but he pulled her into an embrace as her feet touched the ground.

“I love you, did you know that?”

“I love you too. And yes, I know.”

“Aish… I don’t think I’ll ever be getting tired of you saying that.”

“And I won’t ever be getting tired of you too.” She quickly pecked his lips and wriggled out of his grasps. She skipped back to their car, leaving Yonghwa surprised. He flashed a grin and quickly ran after her.

“SEO JOOHYUN SAID SHE LOVES ME! I LOVE YOU SEO JOOHYUN!”

“AND I LOVE YOU TOO JUNG YONGHWA!” She shouted back at him as she saw him running towards the car.

“AND I LOVE UMMA AND APPA TOO!”

“ME TOO!” The twins rolled down the window care at the back and peeked their heads through it.

“AND I LOVE CHOHEE-YAH AND HYUNKI-YAH TOO!” Seohyun shouted into the air.

“AND I LOVE THEM TOO!” Yonghwa shouted back. He stood in front of Seohyun, his arms leaning on his knees as he tried to catch his breath from all the running he just did.

“Aish! Just get in.” The twins retreated their heads inside and rolled up the window. Yonghwa stood up straight and quickly pecked his lips onto Seohyun’s. He quickly then ran to his side of the car and got in. Her nose flared as she got in and put her seatbelt.

“Aye… Are you angry? I know you enjoyed it as much as I did.”

“Seatbelt.”

“Ahrasso, ahrasso. I’ll try and tone it down a bit.” He said as he put on his seatbelt and started the car.

“But I’ll be going all out and more if we’re alone.” He leaned in and whispered to her. Seohyun couldn’t help but blush and slapped his arm.

“Umma, why did you slap appa? Are you fighting?” Chohee asked from the back.

“Ani baby, umma’s just embarrassed. Omo, have you guys thought of a name for your little sibling yet?”

“Ah! Choding!” Seohyun giggled as she crossed her arms across her chest and looked at the two in the back. “Chohee-yah, you think up of a girl’s name. Hyunki-yah, you for boys.”

“Ah de!” Both said in unison.

“Aye… Uri Seohyunnie is already planning ahead and we haven’t even done the deed yet.” He wiggled his eyebrows at her while paying attention to the road ahead.

“Aye, choding. How is it that I ended up taking care of three chodings instead of two?”

“You wanna know how?”

“I wanna know!” Chohee raised her hand in the air. And was followed with Hyunki.

“Me too!”

Seohyun giggled. “And how did we yeobo~?”

”Well, it started on that day when you and I first met. With the help of a sketchbook, I fell in love with you.”

A/N: Awww, was that mushy or was that mushy? God, and I just started it and look at how much I wrote, 4000+ words. This is cause I've already planned out the story from the beginning. Anywho, now that I feel revitalized after my 5 hour sleep, I will comment on the story.

I've always been a fan of angsty stories with happy endings. It's just toe-curling and so dramatic. Anywho, while I was typing the car accident part, I couldn't help but cry yet again and I even turned around my table to prevent my brother from seeing me cry. But good thing I cried only once.

And the head nurse pulling Yonghwa in the nick of time and Yonghwa's father forcing Seohyun to leave Yonghwa were the 360 degree twists that I told you. And were you surprised? I wasn't. Cause I intended to mislead you guys xDDDD Anywho *throws confetti* Yonghwa didn't die and so did Seohyun. And now, they're married for four years and they're planning on having a 3rd baby. Just how great is that? OMFG! I wanna cry!

Hmmm, what else? This oneshot's theme is kinda dark, huh? Well, the emotions actually kinda came out as I started typing it all. AND OMFG I LOVE YONGHWA'S SPEECH PROPOSAL. So cute and so Yong-choding.

I dunno what else to comment on. Yonghwa's father was a here, but I'll let you decide what happened to his and Yonghwa's relationship. Hehehehe, anywho, I hope you enjoyed reading this oneshot of mine as much as I enjoyed (and cried) typing it. Check out my chaptered YongSeo fanfic titled Unconsciously Falling. Bye! COMMENT ON HOW FREAKISLY AWESOME THIS ONESHOT WAS! Thanks :)

THIS EPILOGUE FREAKING MADE ME CRY, HONESTLY! Okay, last bye. BYEEEEE!!!

EDIT: Yonghwa's grandpa died on my birthday. Couldn't think of any other dates xDDD

Like this story? Give it an Upvote!

@yongseo94: thanks :) good thing you liked it.

@singingintherain: ahahahaha, i love misleading people, hence the unexpected ending. plus i don't like tragic endings, prefer happy ones. well, i never really explained WHY she died. plus there wasn't any sign of suffering from her (except the heartbreak) so there was no way she died, unless she was killed. yeah, but i never really explained how though but you could actually get your vision back like all of a sudden, i guess that's what happened to her :)

@imnotpro: Ahahahaha, I guess your fave word is trololol? xDDDD Well, for the first chapter, I wanted to just end it where people would think that both are dead, without even reading Seohyun or Yonghwa's funeral. Lesson to be learned from any of my stories: Never be mislead by my words. And I am a person who loves happy endings, why would I end it sadly? xDDDD thanks. My stories need all the love they can get :) Yes, I tried to squeeze in everything in two chapters, when it was only supposed to be one, since it's a oneshot.

Trololol. I like how you ended it, where readers can imagine what will happen. It's a good one<3 Loved it, very much. Ohh, only a chapter, and so many things happened, Dayum<3
