Concealed Existence

Description

Who am I? Kim Dahee never thought she would have to ask herself this question. Everything change when he suddenly appeared in her life. Who is he and what does he want from her?

Foreword

The bright light above greeted her as soon as she opens her eyes. A moan of pain escaped as the rush of pain creep all over her nerves. Her hands that was placed on her stomach slowly found their way to her unbearable pounding head. She gritted her teeth  as she held her head, but the pain continued to torment her. She turned to her side hoping perhaps laying in a different position will lessen the pain. But she was mistaking. Moving only increased more pain all over her body. She screamed to the deadly pain yet the girl still managed to lay on her side. She closed her eyes with mouth slightly opened to take the oxygen in her. Beads of sweats ran down her face then fell to the ground. She laid there quietly, not moving a muscle because she know it will only produce more pain.

For a while she laid in the same position silently with her eyes closed, hearing herself inhaling and exhaling for air. The pain lessen but it is still there.

What's happening to me?

The first question that came to her mind when it finally diverted from the thought of all the pain. She then opened her eyes. The girl realized she is laying on the sidewalk as the street in the dark night came to her sight.

What am I doing here?

She glanced at her hand that laid right next to her and noticed a long diagonal deep cut in the middle of her palm.

How did I get this?

The more she wondered and questioned herself, the more the frustration build within her.

Why can't I remember anything?

It's not like she having an amnesia or  anything. She clearly remembered who she is, but she could not recollect any memory of the event that led her to the state she is currently in. She closed her eyes again trying to gather all the memories she stored in her mind, but the particular one she was looking for could not be found.

This is hopeless.

She cursed to herself and opened her eyes. The sight of her hand right in front of her face caught her attention again, but this time something out of the ordinary had occurred and made her eyes widen. The open flesh on her palm was now covered with new skin and what only remained is the blood that once oozed out from the cut.

What in the world?

Then it suddenly came to her. She had completely forgot about the pain  while she filled her mind with unanswered questions. But as soon as she recalled about her suffering, she could no longer feel any pain. As if a miracle happened all the pain on in her body had vanished.

The street light shone on her as she turn on her back. She raised her hand to blocked the ray of light that is making her eyes squint. The feeling of loneliness and confusion never hit her this hard as it is now. She sat up crossed legged and look at the sky above.

"It's full moon tonight." She whispered to herself. There was nothing she could do but to admired the moon for now.

As if nothing had happen or she could have forgotten already, the girl found herself fully mesmerized by the moon. All the confusions inside her fell out and what only remain was relief and and the feeling of secure.

Dahee.

A voice suddenly ran through her mind when she finally convinced herself everything will be alright.

Kim Dahee. Get up now.

The voice firmly said. The girl smacked her forehead with her palm thinking she must be hallucinating.

Get up now!

The voice yelled and startled her. She figured that she is not hallucinating. Someone is speaking through her mind.

"Who are you?" She asked.

Run! He's coming after you!

The voice warned but the girl remained where she is.

Suddenly a force bought her up to her feet and gave her a little push from behind.

Please. Just run will you.

The voice pleaded in a gentle tone. Oddly, Dahee found the voice very familiar to her.

Dahee. I know you don't remember anything right now but trust me. Run and hide somewhere safely and I will find a way to come get you.

Dahee mind went blank. First she was injured but recovered quickly. Now there is a voice telling her to run and hide. The girl became flustered and unsure of what to do. The voice was indeed very familiar but she could not thought of who it was at the moment. Yet for some reason her inner heart told herself to follow the voice.

I will trust my instinct.

With that last thought she started running down the street toward the large buildings ahead.

Be safe.

The voice spoke gently through her mind again.

The buildings was visible in front of her but she was not even close to reaching halfway. Her pace slowed down for she was already tired.

"Heck knows what is going on right now. I'm just going to trust that guy and find a place to hide." She told herself aloud.

Dahee reached halfway toward the building by now but she was breathing heavily and her pace switch to jog mode. Then another strange thing happened. Something slashed the flesh on her right ankle open. Dahee groaned to the pain and she stopped to look at her ankle. She cursed to herself again as she watched the blood dripping from her wound.

"Why does weird things keep happening to me?"

"Is this is how you're planning to get away from me?" A voice spoke from somewhere. This time it was a different person and he is not speaking through her mind. She look around for the presence of the the owner of the voice but no one could be seen.

"You're looking very pathetic right now." The person snickered at her. Dahee sense some danger in the voice. She froze in place feeling frighten.

Run!

The previous voice screamed in her mind. Dahee automatic dashed to her feet and ran as fast as she could toward the buildings once again.

"So you want to play tag?" The voice chuckled. "You better run fast or I will catch you."

Dahee ran like she had never ran before. Her feet was moving so fast that she don't think she will be able to stop herself.

Suddenly something cut her shoulder blade. Dahee winced in pain but did not lessened her pace. Then it cut the nape of her neck, her arms and all over her back. She gritted her teeth to hold in the pain.

"I'm getting closer to you." The voice  hollered teasingly.

She finally reached the buildings and turned left to the first path she encountered between two tall rectangular buildings. She kept running and turning at different paths between various buildings with the goal to keep the follower off her trail.

When she finally thought she have lost the follower, Dahee let herself collapsed with her back against a brick wall. She panted heavily, trying to catch her breath and recover her normal heartbeat. Quickly she swallowed the lump in her dry throat away so she won't be reminded of her thirst for water.

That guy better kept his words.

Dahee suddenly remembered the promise of the voice that spoke through her mind. So many things happen to her out of the blue and she does not know the exact way to react to all these commotions. Who was it that is after her and what is ihis motive? She was lonely, frighten and helpless, yet the voice that asserted through her mind gave her reassurance that she will be fine at the end. He was the only last hope that she holds.

"Found you." The voice sang mockingly. "You can run but you can't hide."

The voice rang through her ears and scattered the last hope she had been clinging on to. Goosebumps and chills traveled down her spine and spread to all her nerves within milliseconds of time. Instantly her automatic reflex kicked in and her feet responded to the situation before her mind even got to process of what just happened.

Once again Dahee fled from the taunting voice that is hunting her down. She concentrated on the pathways and the turns she made, not daring to look back. Never once had she slipped or fell during the chase. Her feet are numb, but they are not willing to give in on her and neither will she. She steered right into the path between two rusty brick walls of two old buildings.

Nothing had giving up on her yet, but what is the use when luck is not on her side. Dahee realized she was trapped in a alley facing a dead end. She clenched her fist in frustration and disbelief. She refused to acknowledge that there are no other way out of. She quickly turned around to get out of the misery, but it was too late. She stumbled upon something invisible and fell backward.

"This is the end for you." The voice whispered with a tone of satisfaction.

Dahee quickly scurried backward until her back was shoved against the dead end wall. In an instant some kind of force wrapped around her neck and squeezed . The outline of the the force felt like a hand eagerly choking her. With the airway closing on her Dahee opened to gasps for air but it was impossible at this point. Dahee heart beats slowed down and she felt dizzy.

No. This can't be the end of me.

Dahee refused on dying.

You liar. You said you would come and get me.

Dahee cried for the person that indebted her with a promise.

Dahee.

The voice returned in Dahee mind, giving her a glint of hope once again.

I'm sorry, but it's up to you now. You have to save yourself.

She felt like someone had just stabbed her in the heart multiple of times.

But how! How can I save myself!

Dahee screamed like a flaring flame inside while tears rolled down her cheeks.
