prologue

1663. An insensate princess lived in the suburbs of Kaesong, wielding enormous power along with her influential parents. People were enchanted by her beauty on the surface, likewise, they were aware of the darkness lurking deep inside. A heart made of ice, a soul concealed with hatred, eyes that speak death and a mouth that renders one unable to maintain life with just one command. Alas, the gods of heaven conspired to punish the vileness she brought upon pure human beings. An archangel was sent to the earth to carry out the mission. 

It was a dark, stormy night when the princess awoke. The last remnants of her dream faded quickly as she opens one eye.

A mysterious figure appeared before her, its glistening wings illuminates the gloomy room.

“This must be a dream” the half-awake lady mumbles.

“No it’s not” she jolted up from the bed and opens to speak. But a certain force snaps it shut.

“Relax. I’m an angel and I’m here to deliver your punishment”

“W-what do you mean? Are you crazy?”

“I’m afraid not” the angel’s eyes sliced into hers.

“Tomorrow morning when you wake up, you will be nothing but a mere doll” he announced sternly.

“Get out of here! or I’ll call the-“ a soft chuckle escaped his lips, one that gives the princess creeps.

“Listen carefully cause I’m only going to say this once” the angel locked her eyes into the princess, and continued

“Every 50 years, you’ll be given a chance to live once again on Earth BUT you have to find a man who will love you in a span of 30 days. Once you succeed, that’s the only time you can continue living like a mortal. If not, the cycle goes on until your 7th chance. Tiring, isn’t it?”

The princess was divided between confusion and anger. “This isn’t funny”

“I know” his smile brought up both sides of his mouth. He moved closer to the trembling human.

“But here’s the difficult thing…You have to fall in love with him as well. Hard, right? Considering you love nobody but yourself.” As soon as he finished his sentence, the angel vanished into thin air.

The following day, the kingdom was in chaos. Everyone searched for the evil princess. Most people were b with joy once the news spread like wildfire. Finally, peace will be restored in the land. However, back to the palace, a mysterious doll was lying on the poor princess’ bed, one that resembles her badly, one that has something twisted and sinister eclipsing it.
