“Why can’t you see that I love you?” 

 

The question comes so out of the blue, that the girl is taken aback. She stares at him with startled eyes, saying nothing. The silence now seems to fuel his despair, for he gets on his knees and grabs her hand, pleading. “That bastard doesn’t love you!”
