That Should Be Me
“You said you needed a little time from my mistakes.
It's funny how you use that time to have me replaced..”
Foreword
"I think we should break up, Taemin."
"What?" he replied, his eyes widening just a bit. "W-why?"
The girl standing before him sighed, and looked at him sadly. "I just... I don't think we're a match, y'know?" Krystal bit the inside of her cheek awkwardly, hoping that her reason made as much sense as it did out loud as it did in her head.
"Not a match?"
She nodded. "We're too... we're too close. You're like my brother and... we don't even act like a couple, most of the time. I mean, I love you, but, not in the way that I thought I did. We're just... I don't think it'll work out."
Taemin sighed in response. "I understand, I guess." He avoided looking directly at the girl, and pretended like he wasn't deeply hurt by her suddenly dropping the bomb on him that their relationship wasn't that of an actual couple.
Krystal smiled, "Best friends, still?"
Whilst feigning slight happiness, the young man nodded. "Of course."
Best friends. That's all they could be, and that's how they'd stay. Safe and sound in the friendzone, where feelings can't be hurt and hearts can't be broken.
