Foreword
Author's Comment: Greetings everyone! This is my first story on this website, and perhaps the first one that I have written in months. Back in March, I was seriously discouraged and I never really wrote anything. It wasn’t until I read this really cool story on Live Journal (I’ll post the link if you guys want) that helped give me back my creative spark. The final push, however, was from reading pinkmiinah’s oneshot. It is really sweet and it really helped me make my final decision to start writing again (so thank you pinky~! xD)
Before we begin, I would like to introduce to you the very two main characters of my creation in this story.

Melinda is the protagonist of this story, and it will be through her eyes that we will see the sequence of events. She is a rather peculiar person, with a fiery-don't-take-crap-from-anyone personality; mostly it was because she was raised in the streets of East Harlem, New York with an older brother, younger sister, one mother and no father. She is not all hard nails and bite – she has a gentle side to her and she knows how to behave in certain situations. At the age of Eighteen, she gained a once in a lifetime opportunity when she won a national scholarship that earned her a two year internship at a publishing firm in Tokyo, Japan. It was there she met her current best friend, Toshiro Kobayashi, who was also starting his internship at the same company. After those two years, the two decided to become temporary freelance journalists just to pick up some quick cash - with Melinda as the writer of the two. They were such a success, that after one year, they were picked up by other newspapers from around the world, and the rest is history.
Toshiro Ryota Kobayashi
Nicknames: Toshi, Ryo-chan, Shi-Shi
Birthdate: January 15, 1984
Age: 26
Birthplace: Kyoto, Japan
Nationality: Japanese
Height: 173 cm
Weight: 61 kg
Blood Type: O
Interests: Photography, traveling, dancing, world mythology, working with children
Specialties: Photography, playing the guitar, acting, singing, graphic design
Hobbies: Annoying Melinda, taking pictures, composing music, working with children, Tai Chi
Toshiro is our second main character in this story and in a way he would seem like the sidekick, when in actuality, both him and Melinda are like partners in crime. He is quite the complement to her personality, calm, but at the same time mischievous, witty and rather sarcastic – but he mixes it very much with his observational skills. He was actually born and raised in Kyoto, Japan until he moved in with his older brother in Tokyo at fifteen. At eighteen, he too was given an internship at the same publishing company as Melinda and the two hit it off rather quickly. It was actually him who brought up the idea of doing freelance work, with him as the photographer and Melinda as the reporter. The rest is history.
