Holding a Gaze
To Bring Happiness into my LifeHer eyes were the darkest shade of brown that there was. It was as if I could get into them; two black holes bring my my body towards them. They were captivating, and beautiful; they had the ability to hold one's gaze forever. I wondered what was behind those eyes of hers. Happy memories, a life of fun and joy, or one of darkness, dark memories that she would rather not speak of. But how could she be happy? She didn't have parents, nor did she have friends, or any other relatives. I didn't know how I could live like that, living without people that you love. I didn't know how she could live like that with such beautiful eyes, either.
My gaze was disturbed when she giggled, which signaled that I had been staring at her for too long. I in my lips and abruptly stood up, chuckling to myself. I shyly straightened out my shirt, my hands almost shaking, and said to her, "I'll meet you again, won't I?" She smiled, her eyes creating cresents like the moon. I waved before quickly rushing out of the room, bowing to people as I passed them.
"Gosh, I'm a total idiot," I said under my breath, thinking back to when I held her gaze. She obviously felt awkward, why didn't I stop? I was so confused and embarrassed at my own actions, I thought my mind was messing with me.
'I only met her just now, why can I be feeling like this?' I thought. 'Why did I look at her like that; how long did I look at her for? Was it that bad? It was only her eyes, anyway. But it was still awkward for her, right?'
'But why did I star into her eyes like that?' I thought over and over.
'Maybe because she was looking at me the same way.'
My heart was beating so fast.
