Prologue 


It's cold....so cold. I can't see anything, or hear anything. I feel weightless, like I'm flying away on a gentle breeze I can't feel on my skin. Even though I'm stuck in this cold, dark place I'm not afraid. I feel at peace, surprising even myself. There can't be anything more serene in existence than what I feel in this moment. Though I know it's futile I search for stars in this black sky that surrounds me. The longer I look, the harder I strain to see, the more visable a distant light becomes. With it a low rumbling sound brushes past my ears, and a sense of longing fills me. 'Why? What could I long for in such a peaceful place?' I begin to realize I'm drifting closer to the star in the distance, it's light becoming brighter and the sound more pronounced. I'm almost there, and I recognize the sound as a voice. Someone is calling me, but why? Who? I try to move closer to the light, mabye once I reach it I can see who's calling me so desperately. 'They sound so sad, and...almost in pain' The voice is louder than ever now, I can hear it clearly. The deep husky voice is like music to my ears, but I don't know why. "Yuri-ah, wake up. Please...please, wake up. Don't leave me, not like this, please.." it calls desperately into my ear. 'Yuri? Is that my name?' Suddenly the light becomes too bright to handle and I close my eyes for a moment. When I open them I no longer see darkness, instead I'm staring up into the deep brown eyes of a man clinging to me so desperately. 'He's crying.....for me?' He starts yelling for anyone near him, but I can't hear what he's saying. I'm so captivated and entranced by his eyes that I can't concentrate on anything else. The mixture of emotions I see confuses me. Pain, sadness, anger, desperation, they're all there but why? "Yuri-ah? Baby? Can you hear me? Keep your eyes open, please...for me. Stay awake, please..." I really want to do as he's asking, but I'm so tired and long for that peaceful place again. My eyes start drifting closed and his calls become more desperate until I can no longer see him or hear him anymore. My world once again is swallowed in darkness.
