Foreword

Coffee Shop Love (Ruki - The GazettE) Oneshot

It was a rainy day. Ruki, a rock star needed a place to write and think for his drafts, his band dorm not being the smartest answer since his band mates were having game night. Ruki would usually join them, but him being behind writing his lyrics for the next coming album, he needed all the extra time he could get. As he was thinking, he heard the coffee shop bell sound off. He looked up to see someone that looked very familiar to him. He shook of the feeling, getting back to his drafts.

He heard a laugh, and he froze. He knew that laugh. He grew up with that laugh. He looked up once again to see if he was right, and he was. It belonged to ____ (Reader’s name).

You see, Ruki loved ____. They were best friends back in Kanagawa, but ____ moved to America when they were in year 2 in high school because of her father’s growing business. Now she’s back. Should he talk to her? Better yet, would she even remember him? It’s been so long, and people change, but not ____.

As he watched her, he slowly saw the little girl that was his best friend from long ago came up to the corner ordering her coffee and bakes. The way her nose crinkled at something she didn’t like, or how she still showed people how she could cripple up a soda by hitting it onto her head without screaming in pain. He chuckled to himself when he remembered the first time she had shown him. He looked up again, to see ____ looking at him.

Ruki sighed. He gave a small smile and waved. ____ smiled and waved back, starting to walk to him. He let out a puff of air he didn’t know he was holding in. “You can do this Ruki, you’ve talked to girls before”, his inner voice told him. ____ was standing in front of him.

“You looked really familiar. Do I know you by any chance?” she asked with a curious expression.

“I’m Matsumoto Takanori, or otherwise known as Ruki, remember? We were best friends until you moved to America,” Ruki said weakly, coughing when he finished talking.

“Oh my God! Ruki, it’s been so long! How are you?” ____ said, instantly recognizing her childhood best friend.

As they talked, Ruki had to keep himself calm. He got lost in what she was saying.  Although her voice now held a hint of an American accent, her laugh was still the same. She was a hell of a lot more confident than when they were kids, but she still had that sense of shyness to her. He admired the girl in front of him, but he slowly realized that he was in love with her. Head over heels. His best friend, who would have thought? ____ brought him out of his thoughts, saying that she had to go, and once again she left him.

Fast Forward

Ruki went to that coffee shop every day for the next two months. He stayed there all day. He even missed some practices, but he had to see ____ again. He needed to tell her how he felt. He needed to get it off of his chest.

When he talked to his mother last night, she told him that if it was meant to be, that it would be. After he hung up the phone, Ruki screamed bull. He wasn’t going to leave his chancing at being with ____ to fate. Fate absolutely hated him! He could give a load of reasons, but that’s another story.

He sighed, tapping his foot to the music that played throughout the shop. Every time he heard the bell, he’d pick his head up hoping that it would be ____, but it never was.

Ruki stood up, defeated once again. As he walked with his head hung low, he ran into someone. He said sorry the same time the person did. When he heard an American accent, he looked up, only to be disappointed. It wasn’t ____.

Ruki walked to his car. As he got in, he screamed and then rested his head on the steering wheel.

“’s sake. Why do you hate me so much fate?” Ruki whispered to himself as he got out of the parking lot.

  Fast Forward

It’s been an entire year. Ruki waited at the coffee shop for an entire year, not once did ____ come in. Not once did he hear that lovely voice of hers. Not once had he been able to see those big ____ (color) eyes. Not once had he been able to see her crinkle her nose in disgust, or to hear her laughs of joy. Not once did he see the one that got away.

Ruki sighed once more, as he did the year before.

“It’s hopeless,” Ruki whispered to himself aloud.

“What’s useless?” a voice said. Ruki slowly looked up, only this time he wasn’t disappointed. He was ecstatic. The feelings he’d been feeling were too much for him to handle almost.

“Nothing, I just, sorry….” Ruki laughed nervously.

____ shook her head and sat down in front of him, “Still the same are we Ruki?”

“I guess so babe,” Ruki said, giving her a wink. As they laughed and shared coffee, rain started to pour down the window. Ruki smiled to himself. He was in love. He was sharing coffee with the girl he loved and maybe, just maybe, she felt the same. But he didn’t care in this moment because, he’d fallen in love, and he couldn’t have been happier, and this time, he wasn’t going to let her go. He was going to make her fall in love, little did he know, she already was.

The End.
