Vanity Scare
Description
Mirror, mirror, on the wall,
What does it take for them to fall?
The story of a girl, who lacks self-esteem,
And the boy who’s arrogant but also mean.
Could they learn from one another?
And even learn to love each other?
The journey begins as the girl unfolds
The many secrets the mirror holds.
She meets the boy behind the mirror’s gleams,
Can she save him from this terrible dream?
This is the story that they both share,
Of the long and enduring, Vanity Scare.
Happy-go-lucky and super carefree,
Is the face she shows for all to see.
But under this bright and happy façade,
Is a girl that is rather odd.
She dislikes herself in many ways,
Throughout her life, this was her plague.
Now meet the boy who’s full of it.
He’s got it all; he’s smart and rich.
He lacks compassion and humility;
Once stuck in the mirror he starts to see,
The awful person he used to be
Could be his downfall, possibly.

► Her
When I was a child my mother used to warn me that I should never look into the mirror for too long.
She said that I would get pulled in by my reflection.
I never really believed her, but I heeded her warning nonetheless.
As I got older, I forgot her warning.
As years past, I started to stare at my reflection for longer than necessary.
Hoping and wishing to see who I truly was.
Little did I know, the longer I looked the sooner I'd lose my identity.
► Him
Ever since I was young, people fed me compliments.
My mind became bloated and my eyes became clouded.
I couldn't see clearly.
When I looked in the mirror I saw a confident and suave man staring back.
The image I had in my mind was distorted.
I was foolish to think that what I saw was what I am.
It wasn't the mirror that was bent though.
It was my mind.
Foreword
So a while back, I was sitting in my physics class and as my teacher explained to us the different types of lenses and other wonderful stuff of the sorts, I recalled memories of my mom telling me to never look at a mirror too long because your reflections might steal your identity. I think she said this because it's an old thing that parents use to try to spook their kids into not becoming vain because I've heard it mutltiple times from other people after that... and the BAM. Story idea.
