Let's just break up.

“I’m sick of all of this! I think we need time apart.” Chanyeol said while looking directly into Baekhyun’s brown eyes which widen significantly because of the news’ impact.

“W-what?” Baekhyun stuttered, shocked at his boyfriend’s words.

This a dream right? This can’t be real… He thought.

He heard Chanyeol sigh before speaking again. “Come on, Baek, don’t make this harder than it already is. It’s not working so let’s just give up.” His words stabbed Baekhyun like icicles, hitting him right where it hurts most, and even worse was the nonchalance on Chaenyeol’s face even at the sight of tears already escaping from Baekhyun’s eyes.

“Give up? On what? We were happy just this morning! Can’t we just solve whatever it is that’s bothering you?” Baekhyun asked, hopefulness evident in his voice although his tears weren’t likely to stop anytime soon.

Chanyeol sighed again in annoyance. “I have someone else, alright? I don’t love you anymore. I’m tired of seeing you, of looking at you, so let’s just end it here.” He walked away afterwards, leaving Baekhyun to stand alone in the middle of the empty park, crying.

Baekhyun stayed at the same spot thinking about the last words that had come out of his now ex-boyfriend’s, his first and probably last love’s, mouth.

I have someone else, alright? I don’t love you anymore.” Those words repeated in his mind over and over again.

Someone else… He no longer loves me….

After what seemed like forever, Baekhyun finally decided to go back to their home (the pronoun may not be applicable anymore, but still…), hoping to find Chanyeol there laughing and telling him that all of it was nothing more than a joke, that he was ready to forgive him.

He fished the keys out of his pocket and slowly opened the door. To his dismay, however, everything was dark with all the lights turned off just as he had left them.

He sat in the living room to wait for his boyfriend to come back from work. Chanyeol ended up running late so when Baekhyun sent him a text message asking why he hasn’t shown up, Chanyeol told him to meet him at the park nearest their house. He did as he was told. The rest was history.

“Ch-Chany…” He tried to call out his name hoping that there would be an answer but there was none, not even the slightest hush of a breath, which led him to firmly believe that everything was real, that his partner had let him go because he no longer loved him.

He felt fresh tears in his eyes about to overflow. He wanted to hold them in but no matter how hard he tried to, they ran down his pale cheeks anyway.

He should have seen it coming. A good number of signs may have given away the coming of the breakup but he was stupid in love enough to become blind to them.

He sniffed a little and walked to their—once—shared room and lay on the bed without looking at anything else, knowing that every corner in the house will only remind him of Chanyeol, but that didn’t help since he could still catch a whiff of Chanyeol’s scent, specifically his cologne on his share of the pillows, which caused Baekhyun to remember the times they embraced and cuddled against the pristine sheets. Because he was and is still addicted to that smell, he took the pillow in his arms and buried his face in it, drawing in the aroma.

All of a sudden, memories rushed into his mind, each of them evidence of his ignorance.

++

Baekhyun looked at the clock for the nth time, wondering why Chanyeol has yet to arrive.

He would usually be home at around 8 in the evening but it was already 10:23 and not even his shadow has shown up.

Baekhyun finally decided to call him. He took his phone and pressed number 1 on the speed dial. A photo of Chanyeol popped out, underneath it the label, ‘Chanyeol ♥.’

The phone rang and rang until the voice mail was activated.

This made Baekhyun’s brow curl. Since it was the first time that Chanyeol had not picked up, worry started to creep its way into his mind as he redialed. The phone went off four times and Baekhyun almost dropped the call when someone answered.

“Hello?” It was a familiar deep voice. Baekhyun’s heart began racing.

“Chany.” Baekhyun sung happily.

“Baekhyun, what’s wrong?” Chanyeol asked.

Baekhyun ignored the fact that his boyfriend had just called him by his name instead of one of the billion nicknames he has given him. “Baby, why are you late? Is everything alright?”

“Sorry, Baek, but I might come home late. You should go to sleep.”

“Aw, that’s too bad.” Baekhyun said pouting, knowing that Chanyeol won’t be able to see him.

“Chan…” Came another boy’s voice seemingly not far from where Chanyeol was. “Come on, who are you talking to? Turn that thing off already.”

“Chany, who’s that?” Baekhyun asked.

“He’s just… Um, a partner—yes! I have to go. I have a ton of work to finish. Goodnight.” Chanyeol was panic-stricken but Baekhyun did not notice his change of tone.

“Okay, come back safe, I love—.” He wasn’t able to continue when the line was cut off. “—You.” He stared at the black screen of his phone.

Maybe he really is just busy. Yeah, busy, with that partner of his Baekhyun thought before he heaved out a sigh and went to the bedroom, deciding to obey his boyfriend and go to sleep.

++

The tears were still coming.

He wanted to sleep but couldn’t. Everything made sense now. Everything that happened in the past 2 months had been strange but he had always tried to justify them.

That’s why Chanyeol would come home late

That why we stopped going on dates

That’s why he stopped calling me by cheesy names like he used to

That’s why he would sleep facing away from me

He already had someone else.

Baekhyun kept crying and recalling every second he spent with Chanyeol until he fell asleep.

++

It was Sunday. Both Chanyeol and Baekhyun were sitting on the sofa in the living room, doing nothing.

“Hey Chany.” Baekhyun said, poking his boyfriend’s arm.

“Hmm.”

“It’s such a nice day. Should we go out on a date? It’s been a while.”

“No, don’t feel like it. Let’s just watch some TV.” Chanyeol replied, at the same time turning on the television.

Baekhyun pouted but didn’t say anything else

++

The sunlight hit Baekhyun’s face which made him groan and put an arm over his eyes. After a while, he sat up feeling pain all over his body because he had spent the night tossing and turning.

He looked around trying to find Chanyeol but he remembered why he had not slept so well the previous night: they had broken up. He still couldn’t believe that it had truly happened. It felt like a dream, no, a nightmare. A very horrible one, which he only hoped he would wake up from soon.

After sitting on the bed for an hour, he looked at the clock on the nightstand. It was almost seven. He should have gone to work but because he didn’t feel like leaving the bed at all, he decided against it.

He lay again on the bed looking at nothing in particular as the memories started to replay in his head. Every day had been the same, almost repetitive, but for Baekhyun, every day had its own unique flavor. Everyday, both of them would wake up at this time, giving the other a morning kiss before getting in the shower together. They would scrub each other’s backs and afterwards, one of them would make breakfast. While eating they would share stories or jokes, and sometimes they would profess their love for one another. Once they finished breakfast they would both leave for work, not forgetting their goodbye kisses.

Baekhyun had not noticed that for the past two months, they had begun to stop being affectionate towards each other. Chanyeol stopped being the cheeseball that he used to be. He no longer cuddled with Baekhyun for what felt like hours and he no longer called him by names laden with lovesickness.

How could he have missed those details?

When minutes passed and turned into hours, Baekhyun remained unmoving on the bed, crying still.

Why did this have to happen to me? What did I do to deserve all this heartache?

Baekhyun lay there like a corpse thinking about nothing and everything when he heard the door bell. He ignored it, thinking that whoever is at the door will leave once nobody comes.

Even after two minutes, though, the person refused to quit.

Baekhyun quickly sat up.

What if it’s Chanyeol? What if he wants to come inside? Half of the house is his, after all. Fueled by those thoughts, he ran to the door to open it.

Alas, all his hopes were crushed when he saw who it was.

“Hey, Baek!” greeted one of the two men standing at the other side of the door. “Oh wow, you look horrible.”

“Geez, Tao, thanks for pointing that out.” Baekhyun opened the door a bit more to let his two guests inside.

“Sorry.” Tao said, biting his bottom lip.

“Seriously dude, what happened to you?” The other guy asked. “And where’s Chanyeol?”

“Tao, Kris, why’re you guys here?” Baekhyun asked, ignoring Kris’ questions.

“You didn’t come to work today so we thought you were sick.” Tao answered.

“Thanks for the concern but I’m okay. You can leave now.” Baekhyun did not want to seem rude but he was in no mode to talk about anything.

“We’re not leaving until we know why you look like .” Kris plopped down on the sofa, pulling Tao with him.

Baekhyun sighed knowing that he won’t be able to get rid of them soon and just sat on an armchair.

“Well?” Tao asked.

“Chanyeol and I…. We broke up.” When Baekhyun spoke, he felt the waterworks coming on again.

“WHAT?” Both Kris and Tao yelled, unbelieving what they had just heard.

“Do you want me to say it again?” Baekhyun asked, glaring at his friends.

“Oh my poor baby! Come here.” Tao stood up and went over to Baekhyun to give him a gentle hug.

“Hey, who are you calling baby? I’m older then you,” It was then that his tear ducts were triggered once more. “I can’t believe I can still cry like this. I thought I’d managed to deplete myself of tears…” He yelled, feeling all the pain come back.

“Shh… Cry as much as you want.” Tao said. Baekhyun couldn’t help but hug him back and allow his emotions to take over.

“There, there… Let your tears wash away the pain.” Tao said in an attempt to comfort him.

“Why?” Kris, who had become silent, asked.

“He…said he…found someone…else…and that he doesn’t …love me…anymore.” Baekhyun said between sharp intakes of breath and sniffles.

“What? He said that? To you?” Kris could not believe that Chanyeol, a person willing to die just to see Baekhyun

smile, could do such a thing.

Baekhyun did not answer and instead kept on crying his eyes out.

_______________________________________________________________________________-

“I think we should let him rest. He needs it.” Kris whispered to Tao after he placed their heartbroken friend on the bed and put the blankets over him.

After three hours of crying, Baekhyun finally fell asleep.

Tao looked at him with pitying eyes. “Poor thing. He loved Chanyeol so much.” He held his boyfriend’s hand.

“I know. I hope he’ll be alright,” Kris said. “I also hope I could meet Chanyeol so I can hit him hard for doing this to Baekhyun.” Tao shook his head knowing that Kris was the type who meant everything he said.

“Come on, let’s go.” The two of them left, unable to do anything except hope that everything will turn out well in the end.

Baekhyun heard a noise which caused him to open his eyes and find himself sleeping on the bed.

How did I get here? he asked himself, until he remembered that Tao and Kris had come to visit him. I must have fallen asleep while I was crying. He heard knocking on the door. Who could that be? He jumped out of bed to head for the door.

When he opened it, he could not believe who he was seeing.

“I came here to get my stuff.” Chanyeol said without even looking at the shocked boy in front of him. When Baekhyun kept silent, he opted to walk past him and into the house to start collecting his things. Baekhyun stood there looking at nothing, not knowing what to do, when Chanyeol came back to the door with a bag in his hand. He was supposed to exit without saying another word when he felt a hand around his.

“Please… Don’t go.” Baekhyun said, in tears.

“I’m sorry.” That was all Chanyeol said before he freed himself from Baekhyun’s grasp and walked out of the house.

Baekhyun did not know what he should do: whether to run after Chanyeol begging him to come back, or to close the door, walk to his bed, and cry his eyes out.

In the end, he decided to keep standing near the door, crying.

That night Baekhyun decide to head to the sea, after he got there, it was dark, and no one was there.

He took a big breath smelling the sea.

It always makes him calm…

,He start to walking in the beach, watching the wave come and go.

How he wishes he could be now here with chanyeol, hand in hand, just like their first night togather as lovers.

After all here where both of them confess their love, that why baekhyun love this place a lot.

It that he is here alone… he hate to be alone.

How much he misses his lover, his baby face, his smile, his teasing, and his cheesy self.

Finally the tears that he was holding run on his cheeks.

“WHY??!” he yell feeling that he need to yell, he need to take everything out his mind.

“WHY YOU JERK LET ME GO??” he yells again.

“WHY I STILL LOVE YOU?? WHY DIDN’T I HATE YOU?... why I have already forgive you?” he mumble the last park and fall on the ground crying.

He didn’t care if anyone saw him like this; he just tired, of everything…

How he wishes if chanyeol get back to him, even if he didn’t love him, Baekhyun is okay with it…

He just wants to be selfish and hold in to chanyeol and never let him go.

He still love him…

And he doesn’t know if he would ever stop loving him…

It had been days, months, since Chanyeol destroyed Baekhyun’s world.

He got back to work after five days thanks to Tao’s encouragement, but that was all that changed.

He was thankful to both Kris and Tao because they helped him. They would visit him everyday to make sure he was alright, and of course since he didn’t want his friends to worry about him, he would act as though everything was going great. He would retain a happy disposition in front of them and his co-workers as well but, as soon as he was left alone in his apartment, he would cry until there were no more tears to shed.

He stopped laughing and instead only let out forced smiles. Although he often lost his appetite, he would eat at work due to Tao’s insistence. At home, however, all he did was to sit somewhere and cry.

He knew he should forget him like how Chanyeol had already forgotten about him, but he knew that deep inside his heart, he still loved Chanyeol to the point that he was no longer angry with him and he wished a happy life for him.

At night, Baekhyun would remember every little thing that happened between them because everything in the house they once shared reminded him of Chanyeol. The bed that they would cuddle on, the television on which they would watch a movie together after a long day of work, the kitchen where they ate meals made out of love… Everything was a constant reminder of how much of a loser he was because he had not been able to keep the one he loved most in his life.

Another day of work had passed and all the employees were getting ready to go home.

“See you tomorrow.” Tao said with a smile. Baekhyun nodded at his friend, his own smile lacking genuineness. Tao left but Baekhyun stayed.

Moments later, Baekhyun also decided to go but not to his apartment since he did not want to think about Chanyeol. He had forgotten about Baekhyun first, after all.

Baekhyun headed for the park.

He was walking when he happened to reach the spot where Chanyeol had dumped him. Everything that happened that night played like a broken record in his mind.

Without warning, a water droplet landed on his nose. He looked up and more of the drops went on his face. The drizzle quickly turned into heavy rain but even then Baekhyun did not walk or run away.

A couple of hours passed and yet he was still there, soaking from head to toe . His vision began to blur and his body had grown hotter. He had gotten sick because of the rain and the cold, but he did not move a muscle. He didn’t want to.

“Baek? Is that you?” He heard someone ask. It was a voice he would be able to recognize anywhere.

He lowered his head and looked to the side to see Chanyeol holding an umbrella over himself and another boy. Baekhyun’s eyes went to Chanyeol first, to see in reality the face that was constantly in his dreams. His features were very much the same.

When he looked at the stranger, he noticed that he and Chanyeol were holding hands. Ignoring the sting in his chest, he lifted his gaze to the boy’s face. He had short, black hair and wide, rounded eyes which made him look cute. He also had full lips and he was as tall as Baekhyun.

He was still observing the boy when Chanyeol spoke again. “Baekhyun, it is you! What are you doing in the rain?” Baekhyun almost thought that he was worried. Almost.

A bitter smile swept across his face before he chose to leave. However, as soon as he had taken his first step, he felt dizziness come over him and he lost his balance.

He closed his eyes waiting to feel the pain from falling to the ground but it never came. He felt strong–familiar—arms around him. He terribly missed being in them.

Chanyeol helped him stand up and placed a hand on his forehead.

“ You’re burning. What were you thinking not bringing an umbrella?” Baekhyun barely heard Chanyeol’s voice over the buzz of his headache. He saw that while Chanyeol stood near him, the other boy stayed still under the umbrella looking at them with his big eyes.

As much as he liked basking in the glow of what seemed to be Chanyeol’s concern, Baekhyun lightly pushed away his ex-boyfriend. He knew well that Chanyeol no longer had feelings for him and that he had already found someone else.

“I’m fine.” He mumbled before resuming his stride. Unfortunately, the headache only worsened with each step he took until he couldn’t see anything anymore.

His eyes were closing on their own and, though he tried fighting it, after a while he gave up and fell to the ground. This time, no one was there to hold him.

Before the darkness could take over him, he heard his name being called. He was too weak to answer. The last thing he remembered was a couple of men running towards him, one of them saying something he couldn’t understand.

++

“What’re you doing here, you jerk?”

“I called you, remember?”

“So? You need to leave now. Do you want to hurt him again?”

“Hey, you have no right to tell me what and what not to do.  I was the one who brought him here.”

Baekhyun groaned at the slight commotion and opened his eyes only to close them again because of the brightness in the room.

“Baek? You’re awake! How do you feel?” He opened his eyes again, slowly this time, to see Tao’s worried face in front of him.

“Where …am I ?” He asked and ended up coughing because he his throat was dry.

“Here, have some water.” Kris, who was next to Tao, handed him a full glass. Baekhyun took several sips before handing it back to Kris with a mild look of gratitude.

“You shouldn’t have walked in the rain. You got a fever.” Tao said with a pout. Both Kris and Baekhyun chuckled at his cuteness, but soon the latter was back to coughing. He could feel a slight headache coming on but he ignored it.

“I’m okay now, don’t worry.” He said slowly, afraid to cough again.

“Yeah. You better be.” Tao said.

“By the way, how long have I been out?”

“Hmm… About two…months.”

WHAT?” Baekhyun yelled in astonishment.

Kris and Tao immediately fell into a laughing fit. Baekhyun, catching up on the joke, couldn’t help but laugh with them.

“Don’t worry. You got here yesterday.” Kris said, still snickering.

“Baek, can I talk to you?”

The smiles on the three boys’ faces vanished in a second and they all turned to the direction of the voice. It was none other than Chanyeol who had spoken, and with him was the same boy who had seated himself far from the bed.

Baekhyun made eye contact with Kris and gave a small nod as a silent request.

“C’mon, Tao, let’s go find the doctor.” Kris said, taking his boyfriend by one of his wrists.

“What? We don’t need the doctor. He said it’s only a fever.” Despite Tao’s protest, Kris gave him a just-follow-me glare and the two of them walked out of the room.

“Um, I’m just going to get something from the vending machine.” Said the nameless boy before following Tao and Kris.

The room was quick to fall into awkward silence. Chanyeol had to cough a few times to cut through the discomforting air.

“Thank you for… helping me.” Baekhyun finally said, staring at his blanket and fiddling the soft cloth between his fingers.

“Yeah, no problem.” Chanyeol said. The heavy silence resurfaced. Baekhyun hated how he and Chanyeol’s relationship (or lack thereof) had gotten to the point where it was awkward just being together in a single space.

He remembered how he and Chanyeol would sit for hours doing nothing but be in each other’s arms. In those days, neither of them had needed words to convey their love. The mere existence of the other had been enough.

That was what Baekhyun thought anyway. It seemed as though it had not actually been enough for Chanyeol. He had needed more.

“Baekhyun, how have you been?” Chanyeol asked.

“I’m good.” Baekhyun replied in a mumble. After a few beats, he went on to ask, “Was that the ‘someone else’ you mentioned that night?”

“Kyungsoo? Oh. Yeah. We’re dating now.” Chanyeol said, guilt evident in his voice. “Look, Baekhyun, I’m so sorry that we had to end like that, but I just don’t think we’re meant to be.”

Baekhyun heard glass shattering. It was his heart.

However, he decided to show that he was over it. Chanyeol’s happiness was his happiness, and whatever or whoever made Chanyeol happy made him happy in turn.

“You don’t need to tell me that, Chanyeol. Of course I know you two are together,” Baekhyun laughed a little. “I wish you happiness with Kyungsoo. Although we haven’t been formally introduced, he looks like a good person. You should treat him well, alright?”

“Baek—.”

“Can you leave now?” Baekhyun said, cutting off the other’s sentence. “I’m tired.” He lay back on the bed and closed his eyes, hoping that the tears wouldn’t fall and give him away.

He heard Chanyeol sigh and walk out of the room. A single tear then slid down the side of Baekhyun’s face.

Goodbye, Chanyeol.

Not even ten seconds after was the door flung open and Tao and Kris burst inside.

"Baekhyun!” Tao approached his already sobbing friend first. “What happened? What did that bastard tell you?”

“I thought the pain would be dulled with time,” Baekhyun said. “But it has only gotten sharper.”

Tao could feel the tears building in his eyes as he hugged Baekhyun. Though he wanted to try to lessen his friend’s pain even by the slightest degree, he felt powerless every time he felt Baekhyun’s tears soaking into his shirt. “Shh… Everything’s going to be okay.” It was getting difficult for Tao to believe his own words.

“He’s already moved on so why can’t I?” Baekhyun shouted in frustration, surprising his two friends. “That’s it! If he can live without me, then I can do the same.”

After those words he continued to cry, promising himself that it would be the last time he was going to cry over

Chanyeol ever again.

___________________________________________________________________________________

Several months had passed since Baekhyun decided to finally take control of his life, his emotions, and do his best to

forget his once lover. He was aware, though, that it would be far more difficult to stop loving Chanyeol altogether.

He returned to his happy-go-lucky self and got rid of  the fake smiles. He also resumed having three square meals a day. He partied and, at the same time, worked harder than before.

He did anything and everything that took his mind off of Chanyeol.

After he had been released from the hospital where he stayed for a total of four days, he cleaned his apartment.

Yes, it is no longer ours. It is mine alone, and I wouldn’t have it any other way.

Cleaning meant taking everything Chanyeol-related and locking them away in a closet. He knew that doing so was somehow useless because Chanyeol was persistent in taking up residence in his brain, but it helped in lightening the emotional load of everything that had happened in the past months.

It was another ordinary day with Baekhyun sitting in the living room and his head swimming in various thoughts. He thought about how much faith he had had in his and Chanyeol’s relationship. They had never fought, had always tried to understand one another. They were usually even on the receiving end of envious stares everywhere they went.

But boy oh boy, had he never been more wrong.

He figured that he should stop thinking about those kinds of things but he couldn’t help it. As soon as he was alone, those ideas would haunt his subconscious.

But, he never cried again, not after that day at the hospital.

His train of thoughts was severed by someone knocking. His attention went to the door as he stood up and walked towards it, wanting to know who would come by at a rather odd hour—it was almost lunch time.

When he opened the door, he had no time to see who it was because before he knew it, the person was kissing him.

Kissing him!

Baekhyun tried to push the person away but he couldn’t for two reasons: first, the guy (this bit he inferred from having felt a flat chest under his palms) was stronger than him; and second, the lips against his were as known to him as the back of his own hand.

Baekhyun was so confused and focused on pushing the boy away from him that he had not noticed having been pushed inside the house and the door having been closed.

When the kiss was broken, Baekhyun came face-to-face with Chanyeol.

Before he could have second thoughts, Baekhyun’s hand had already met Chanyeol’s cheek in a powerful slap.

WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU DOING?” Baekhyun had no idea what to do anymore.

“Baek, baby, I was wrong so please forgive me.” Chanyeol said and attempted to hug Baekhyun while ignoring his raw cheek.

“Get out!” Baekhyun shouted, pushing the other away more forcefully. Who the hell does he think he is to just walk in kiss me as though he wasn’t the one who broke up with me?

“Baby, listen to me. It was a mistake, a moment of stupidity. I thought I had stopped loving you but I was so wrong. I still love you and I want you back.” Chanyeol approached but Baekhyun countered him by taking several steps back.

Baekhyun was at a loss for words. He did not know whether or not he should believe Chanyeol’s words and come back to him. That was what he wanted more than anything, it’s true, but then again, could it be that Chanyeol thought of Baekhyun as nothing more than a toy he could play with one second and discard the next? How could he come back just like that saying that he loved and wanted Baekhyun back in his life?

“LIAR! You stopped loving me a long time ago. You’re dating that guy Kyungsoo so why don’t you go to him instead?” Baekhyun felt as though he was about to cry.

“No, I was wrong. I shouldn’t have broken up with you. Kyungsoo and I are over. I never loved him, I just thought I did, but all along it was you who I was in love with and I know that you still love me.”

“You really are a heartless person, aren’t you? Is being with Kyungsoo and me a game to you? Did you play with us when you wanted to and threw us after you got bored? Are you telling me that now that you’ve gotten sick of Kyungsoo, you decided to play with your old toy again?”

Baekhyun was dying on the inside. He want to tell Chanyeol that yes, he did love him, but he couldn’t, not after what Chanyeol had done. Chanyeol had gotten rid of him saying that he did not love him anymore. He made Baekhyun suffer immensely, causing him to cry every night and throwing a shade of depression over Baekhyun’s entire world. Baekhyun had even lost his sunshine-like personality in the process. And now, he wanted him back like nothing had happened?

Did Chanyeol think it was going to be that easy?

“No! You were never a game to me,” Chanyeol said, pleading with his eyes. “I truly love you. To be honest I don’t know what happened to me. I have never stopped loving you.”

“Oh really?” Baekhyun asked, skeptical. “And what exactly made you come back, huh?” He was getting sick of the conversation and the lies he sensed were in them. He wanted it to be done at once so he can go back to his bed, fall asleep, and dream that this nonsense had not happened and that all damages were still intact.

“After that day, when you passed out in front of me, I couldn’t stop thinking about you; I felt so much regret letting you go. I began to realize how stupid I was especially when everything around me started to get worse. I no longer feel anything for Kyungsoo. All I want is and will always be you, Baekhyun.”

Baekhyun knew that if this went on, he would give up.

“Chanyeol, please leave now.” He said, wanting nothing more than to end it with the other man once and for all. He knew of his ultimate weakness. He knew he was still in love with said weakness. He also knew that he would be willing to erase every bad memory just so they would be back together.

“No!” Chanyeol protested. “I know that you love me, and I love you!  I refuse to leave you. I already did that once and I won’t do it again, so why do you have to fight this?”

“Because….because…” Baekhyun could not reason out properly anymore. He allowed his tears to fall. He was tired of everything, of having to act like everything was perfectly fine.

Why did it have to be this way? Why can’t we just be happy without all this?

When more tears came, Chanyeol tried once more to come closer and, this time, Baekhyun did not move away. Chanyeol stood in front of him, his hand already wiping the tears off Baekhyun’s warm cheeks.

“See? I told you: you still love me. Come here.” Chanyeol then embraced Baekhyun. At first Baekhyun did not respond but, after a while, he felt the warmth he had missed so much and wrapped his arms around the taller boy’s body. He did not know what had come over him but in that moment, he was sure that the storm had ceased at last.

He felt Chanyeol press a kiss on his forehead. He was aware that what they were doing was wrong, that he shouldn’t forgive Chanyeol, but his love for this man was so great that in truth, he had never been mad at him even after all he had done and he had already forgiven him a long time ago.

Chanyeol lowered his head until his lips were on Baekhyun’s.

Baekhyun felt desperate. All of his attempts to forget Chanyeol now went with the wind. He confirmed to himself that he loved and always will love Chanyeol.

The kiss didn’t help, either, as his heart started to race. He was able to feel those lips again after what seemed to be the longest time, and it was as though he had been lifted up to the heavens. It was crazy for him to feel elated after being betrayed but, surprisingly, he was alright with it. As long as he had Chanyeol next to him, everything was going to be fine.

“I missed you so much, did you know that?” Chanyeol asked when the kiss ended.

“I missed you a lot, too.” Baekhyun said, deciding that he wanted to start anew with this man.

“I won’t make the same mistake again. I was stupid enough to have done so once before.”

Hearing those words made Baekhyun smile.

Chanyeol is mine, now and forever, he thought.

“C’mon. We can just talk tomorrow,” Chanyeol said. “We both could use a bit of rest.” He led Baekhyun to the bed. Both of them lay there with Chanyeol’s arm around Baekhyun’s waist and Baekhyun’s head resting on Chanyeol’s chest. Baekhyun heard his lover’s steady heartbeat; it was music to his ears.

“I love you.” Baekhyun said.

“I love you more.” Chanyeol replied.

After a while, Baekhyun fell asleep with a single thought in his head.

I know things won’t ever be the same, but I will try hard not to let you go.

Chanyeol watched as Baekhyun went to the land of dreams with a smile painted on his face. On the other hand, a smirk formed on Chanyeol’s lips as he took his phone and sent a message.

To: kyungbaby

Sorry, honey, but  won’t be able to go home tonight. Something came up at work.

Don’t wait for me and just sleep. I will come back as soon as I can.

I love you.

Chanyeol looked at the sleeping boy in his arms and smiled in triumph.
