CHAPTER5
Another day, another soundless meal together. Only this time it wasn't so uncomfortable.
It was morning, and everyone had already left the motel and were seated at a little mom & pop place eating breakfast. No one was talking again, but Miah was starting to think it was just natural for them. To just eat in silence, comfortably knowing your friends are beside you didn't seem like such a bad thing to her; she rather enjoyed it actually. Her father would always tell her, "Even a dog is left to eat in peace." She hadn’t understood that before, but now she thought she was starting to.
It didn't take long before they were back on the road. They were roughly six hours from their destination or at least that’s what Kris’ GPS said. All Miah know was that she was getting more excited by the minute.
“Everyone seems to be getting along better,” Jae noted from the front. “What makes you say that,” Miah inquired. “The fact that you aren’t being moody or sleeping to ignore us," her friend smirked back. Miah laughed, nodding at her words. “Yeah well, Suho and I had a talk last night so we’re good now.”
“Last night?” Jae blinked. Miah didn’t miss the note of jealousy in her voice, and neither did Jung. Thankfully the other two didn’t seem to notice. Then again, no one knows Jae better than her twin and best friend.
“Don’t worry about, it,” she smiled trying to placate Jae.
“Yeah, we’re even on nickname terms. Isn’t that right Miah,” Suho nudged her. She cringed at his input; he really didn't have much sense did he?
Seeing Jae start to fume from the front, Miah replied with a terse, “Yup,” ending the conversation.
She loved Jae, she really did. To Miah, Jae was like a sister, and like any siblings they could get into arguments. One thing she really didn't like about her friend's personality is that she could get possessive, even over things that don’t belong to her. That fact that she was getting upset over Suho and Miah having had a simple conversation without her knowledge was not setteling well with either party. Most especially because her boyfriend was sitting right next to her completely oblivious to his girl friend's unreasonable reaction and the reason behind it. Besides, it wasn't like Suho belonged to her; it wasn't fair for her to stake a claim over a simple crush that wasn't going to go anywhere.
To make it more ridiculous, the two had just met the other day; it wasn't like them speaking alone once meant they were in a relationship. Miah was not the kind of girl that falls easily or for just anyone. Jae should know her better than that, and it made the girl angry to have her friend give her attitude over nothing.
After a few minutes of silence Junggie, god’s gift to Miah or so she thought at that moment, requested music to which Kris obliged. Right away Psy’s Gentleman was playing. The two started to dance excitedly in their seats; poor Suho getting pushed around in the process.
They shook their pelvises side to side as best as they could in their seat belts, and rotated their necks like the actual dance. Kris and Suho laughed at them, but Jae continued to sulk in her seat.
They continued dancing and singing to whatever came on for the next few hours; only stopping because they came upon a little recreation area on the side of the road that Jae wanted to stop at and stretch her legs.
As soon as they parked they all rushed out; Suho and Kris going to the trunk to pull out some food that was bought earlier that morning. The other three ran toward a wooden picnic table set atop a patch of lush green grass. Jae immediately sat down, but the playful Junggie and Miah continued to mess around. The two pushed each other about, laughing carelessly as they did so.
Miah felt a contented happiness envelope her. This moment was what she hoped the trip would be like for her and her friends. Beyond all t
