Prologue:

I woke up in my bed with the sunlight touching my face because of the opened window.

I quickly went outside my room nd go to the kitchen to eat my breakfast that my mother has prepared.

 

I swear this will be a busy Sunday.

 

I went outside my room again and started to find the ring that my bestfriend gave me about a year ago.

 

I opened my closet, an old closet and it was full of spider webs. I saw something familiar inside that closet, a diary with two pages. I was curious with what's written inside so I read on.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

11-27-12

 

 

 This day was my birthday and I got up in my bed witha big smile drawn on my face. I look at my cellphone and I saw Josh's message.

 

 

 

 

To Sophie: 

 Happy Birthday tomy Bestfriend ! Because this day is your birthday we will go somewhere.  I will go in your house ASAP. You take a bath now, Make it faster ! ...

  I quickly ran in through the bathroom.

 

 

 

Fixed myself.

 

 

 

 

 

And I'm ready !

 

 

 

 

 

 

 Before I leave my room I wore the bracelet that Josh gave to me. It was a couple's bracelet. But we didn't call it like that. 

 

 

 

It was our bestfriend's bracelet.

 

 

 

 

I excitedly ran out to my room.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

*ding dong**

 

 

 

 

 

The doorbell outside rang.

 

 

 

My mother greeted me a happy birthday and after that, I said goodbye to her because I will go somewhere with Josh.

" So let's go ? ", I asked him.

 

 

 

" Yeah ", he replied.

 

 

 

 

 

 

Inside the car.

 

 

 

 

 

 

We sitted in a bench under a shaded tree near the park.

 

 

 

 

 

" So why are we here ? ", I asked.

 

 

 

" I want you to be happy this day. Do you remember when we are kids ? We were always here playing around and you are used to be the loser, right ? ", he laughed.

 

 

 

" Yes, I do remember ! So let's play now and let's see who will be the loser this time.", I said.

 

 

That park was really a wonderful place. 

 

 

 

A lively park.

 

 

 

 

 

A fountain was placed in the middle. There were so many kids playing around. a vendor of an ice cream. Two men selling different colors of balloons. And an old man playing guitar while singing "Lucky" by Jason Mraz.

 

 

 

 

 

 We play and play like there's no tomorrow. That moment was one of the happiest moment  I had in my life....Being with my bestfriend....

 

 

 

 

 

 When we got tired we sit in the grass and rest.

 

 

He suddenly asked me.

 

 

 

 

" Do you wanna be my girlfriend, Sophie? "

 

 

I was shocked by that question, so instead of answering, I only look at him.

 

 

" Oh.. don't take it seriously Sophie, I'm just joking. ", and he smiled.

 

 

" Let's play again.", he added.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

I knew since then, that he loves me more than a bestfriend.

But I kept on saying to him that being a bestfriend is more than being a boyfriend.

 

 

Couples broke up, but friends don't.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

11-28-12

 

 

 When I wake up this morning I saw my cellphone with 20 messages received.

 

It was all Josh. But the messages are all the same. 

" Hey Bestfriend ! ", that's all he said.

 

 

 

 I am remembering something special this day, but I did not waste my time thinking of it.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

*night**

 

 

 

 I look again at my cellphone but it is empty battery. So I charged it and I continue lying on my bed.

 

 

 

After a few seconds, my mother was knocking my door outside with all her effort. 

 

 

I went outside.

 

 

 

My mother holds a telephone and she said Josh's mother is on the phone.

 

 

" Why auntie ? What's happening ? "

 

 

 

 

 

 

I feel that my body frozed with what I've heard.

 

 

 

 

Josh was beated and punched by three men in the park.

 

 

 

But why he is the park?

I did not take time thinking of  that.

 

 

 

 

 

 

I ran and ran with all I can to the hospital. 

 

 

I felt that my tears are streaming down my face continously.

 

 

 

They didn't stop.

 

 

 

 

Finally, I reached the operating room.

 

 

 

 

Inside was Josh........

" We do what we can, sorry. ", they said.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

I quickly go inside...

 

 

 

 

 

 

I hugged him....

 

 

 

 

 

 

His big body....

 

 

 

 

 

 

I whispered him, " Bestfriend, I love you."

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

But it's all too late.

 

 

 

 

 

 

All I do was to cry and say his name repeatedly.

 

 

 

 

If only I can see him smile again.

 

 

 

 

 

 

Laugh again....

 

 

 

 

 

 

But that will not happen again...

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

I love my bestfriend so much.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

" Josh, don't leave me here alone. "

 

 

 

 

 

His mother gave me something, a ring written my name on it.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

" Before Josh lose his conciousness he said to gave it to you. "

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 I stare at Josh again for the last time.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

His sweet and charming face.

 

 

 

 

 

 

That face that I will never forget.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

He is totally grown up.....

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

I got home with my teary eyes and I can hear my voice saying my bestfriend's name over and over again.

 

 

 

 

I sat down my bed and look at my cellphone.

 

 

 

 

It was fully charged now.

 

 

 

 

 

 

All I do was to cover my mouth and my tears began falling again.

 

 

 

 

I have 3 messages received, all from Josh.
