chapter six; *REVISED*

TOP Daddy

I was sat there quietly outside the principal's office waiting to be summoned. My face was in deep pain... And it seriously hurt... A LOT. And the worst thing about it were the bruises on my face. Gee, I wonder how I'd get rid of them. I bruise much like a banana, no doubt.

I glanced up the wall clock and watched the the red hand tick slowly... Very slowly... Until it stopped. Hmm... I guess the batteries must've ran out of juice.
Let me put it this way... Right now, I'm basically sat outside the principal's office with bruises on my face and it's only the first our of my first day of school.

I'm in pretty much deep shi–

“Choi Ririn.” The woman from the reception called my name as she walked in the waiting room. “I called your father. He'll be here in a few minutes.” Then walked back to her little office.

I looked down to my feet and heaved out a sigh.

This was not good.

Crap, crap, crap, crap.

He'll probably take the gift away now.

.....

(Moments ago...)

I noticed we were driving to some abandoned garage workshop, which got me wondering.

“Uh... Seung Hyun... Where exactly are we going?” I asked, looking around the abandoned area.

The place looked as if it was in the middle of nowhere due to the fact there were no nearby buildings or residential homes around. The building gave me a creepy vibe since it looked deserted.

“To see your gift.” He replied just as he stopped in front of the garage.
He motioned me to get out of the car and I obeyed as he looked for something in the drawers. Once he got our of the vehicle, I noticed that he was holding a little remote control-like thing and car keys. He handed me the remote and the keys and said, “Press the red button,”

Why is it always a red-coloured button, I wonder.

I pressed the red button curiously and looked around, but nothing happened. I looked at Seung Hyun in puzzlement. “Uh... Nothing happened.”

“Three...” He began to count, which got me even more curious. “Two... One.”

The garage doors all of the sudden opened...

Slowly...

Until it was halfway...

And,

BAM!!!
...there it was.

.

….
…..

“Oh... my–”
I was completely... and utterly... speechless.

Seung Hyun grinned at my expression. “You like?” He said simply. “I could've gotten you something more expensive, but it was such short notice.”

I slowly walked towards it... And touched it. It was... The most beautiful thing I've ever laid my eyes on...
“Is this... really... mine...?” I spoke breathily.
Seung Hyun walked next to me and eyed the gift. “She's a beauty, eh?”

I think... I'm in-love...

WITH THIS CAR!

Damn... A black Lamborghini Murciélago?! It's one of the most expensive Italian sport cars in the world yets he was able to afford it?! I should know since I've read a couple of these sport car magazines before.

But... Oh man...
I can't possibly accept it...

My expression slowly fell as I tilted my head down to my feet. Seung Hyun seemed to notice my sudden change of emotion and spun me around to face him. He tilted my chin up so he could fully see my face. “What's up? You don't like it? I'll get you something much better if y–”
“No...” I cut him from his words. “...I don't... WHY?
“Huh?” Seung Hyun arched one of his infamous thick eyebrows.
“I can't accept it.” I continued, using my dramatic breathy tone once again. “You shouldn't have wasted your money on something this expensive just for me.”
“Why can't you accept it?” Seung Hyun asked. “It's a gift from me. Stopping acting dramatic and say you love it! I know you do.”
“Seung Hyun...” I mumbled. “There's a reason why I can't accept it...”
“Ririn! Stop it. Stop feeling guilty every time we give you something. You're part of the family now. And we give you things because we want to. Stop thinking you're a burden or a heavy weight on us.”

That wasn't what I meant, but what a good choice of words. Hmm...I might use those one day.

“No. It's not that.”
“What is it then?” Seung Hyun questioned eagerly.
“It's because...”
“Because...”

The whole word trailing was pretty damn fun, I must admit. I could see the slightly frustrated on Seung Hyun's face. Gosh, priceless!

“I...”
“I?”

"..."

"You... What?"

.

..

...

“DON'T HAVE A DRIVING PERMIT.”

The sparkle in Seung Hyun's eyes vanished, and I could tell some imaginary beaming background behind him fell.
He slowly let go of me and began scratching his head. “Oh... yeah.”

Psh... His 'I'm dumb' look definitely fooled me. Before I knew it, he chuckled hysterically.
“What's so funny...?” I questioned him in confusion.
“Of course I know you don't drive.” Seung Hyun replied once he stopped chuckling. “Keep the car.”
“What's the point? I wouldn't be driving it anyway.”
“That's why I paid for you to do private driving lessons.”

Thud.
I felt my stomach fell.

“R...Really...?”

And no.
It wasn't the kind of feeling that made people excited. It was... Something else.
Though I can't seem to put the pieces in the right places.
(haha, good use of metaphor eh?)

“Let's go Ririn, you have ten minutes to get to school.”

And so I followed him to his car.

.

..

...

....

.....

Still... That didn't explain why I got in trouble on my first day of school.
But it definetely had something to do with a number 2 pencil and my right fist.

“Choi Ririn!” Seung Hyun exclaimed in an obvious fake stern tone – well, to me it was obvious; grown-ups actually fall for all of this fake crap – as he burst through the door with the school secretary behind.
The stern look on his face made me giggle a little. He walked up to me leaned down, eye level. “Care to explain why you're in trouble?” He questioned.
I looked at his eyes and noticed they were slightly red. Either he was taking a nap or was taking a shower and the shampoo stung his eyes because he was rushing.

“Ah, You're Mr. Choi I believe?” The principal began, appearing out of nowhere.
Seung Hyun instantly stood up from his position and looked straight to the man's eyes, who, in return, gave him the 'weird' eye.
His face screamed an 'are you really her father?' look, which Seung Hyun seemed to have notice.
“You look awfully young to father an eighteen year old.” The principal said. “If you don't mind me asking, how old are you?”

GEE, WHAT A NOSY OLD MAN.

Seung Hyun pulled a 'WTF?' face for a split second before replying back to the principal. “I'm tw... forty...” He made an unsure tone on his voice. “Yes, forty!”
“How did you make yourself look young?” The principal said, in shock. “You look as if you're twenty.”

Meh, how gullible can old people get?

“Uh... Botox, I guess. And LOTS of it.” Seung Hyun replied with a cheeky smile.

I couldn't help but cough a little from trying to hide my giggles.

The principal shoot a look of concern at me. “Ririn, are you OK? You seem a little pale. Are you sick?”
“No I'm n–”
I noticed Seung Hyun was giving me a 'play along' stare, with his eyebrows arching a little. Hmm... He must dislike talking to the guy.
“Ah... cough... A little...” I fake coughed, rolling my left hand into a fist and covering my mouth. “I don't... cough... Feel so well...”
“You can either stay here, Miss Choi or come inside with us for the little meeting.” The principal suggested as he opened the door to his office. “I'm sure you're father would love to know what you did to your classmate.”

“BUT IT WASN'T MY FAULT!!!” I shouted, standing up from my seat and rolling both my hands into a ball until my knuckles turned white.
“I see you are feeling much better now, Miss Choi.” He eyed me sternly. “Please, both of you come inside.”

Ah, ...” Seung Hyun cursed under his breath.
“What was that, Mr. Choi?”
“Uh... nothing.”

Seung Hyun and I walked in the office side-by-side behind the principal. He then motioned us to sit on the two leather seats in front of his desk as he sat on the bigger seat on the other side. I eyed Seung Hyun and we both quietly sat down.
“Choi Ririn... I understand it is your first day here.” The principal began, pushing his glasses up from the bridge of his nose. “But please, explain to your father and I what happened then.”
I glanced at Seung Hyun who was staring at me then back to the principal. “See... It started during the first few minutes of first period, in Physics class. The teacher told me to sit at the front of the class as it was the only seat available, and so I did and the students were giving me... random and uncomfortable weird looks...”

.

..

...

“Ah! Choi Ririn, the new student.” The teacher read out from the paper slip I gave her. “Hmm... I'm afraid the only seat available is at the front of the class. You wouldn't mind sitting there?”
“Not at all.” I replied with a small smile then walked to my seat.

On my way there, I noticed a number of students, both male and female, giving me strange looks.

Oh crap! It was gonna be like one of those 'wind-the-new-girl-up' novels I've read. I could just sense it! And what, I had to sit next to the toughest, mean and obnoxious guy in school? Like that drama that Seung Hyun had a role in, when he played the toughest guy in school... what was it... hmm... something to do with the term 'sam'.
“Nice bag.” A girl with her group of friends said as I walked past them. “D&G... Isn't that a famous designer?”

The girl sounded so ghetto, like the ones from the 90s.

I sat down on the only empty seat in the room, and quietly set my bag down.

The teacher started the lesson with a few boring introductions which got almost every single person in the class sleepy, except for this one guy behind me who wouldn't stop giggling for some unknown reason.

"Ow!"

He unexpectedly bagan pulling my hair.

I turned around and he quickly let go, crossing his arms and whistling a tune as if nothing happened. I rolled my eyes at him and turned back to the black board, but again I felt a tug on my hair. I turned to him and with a forced polite smile. “Will you please not pull my hair!” I whispered before turning my head back to the front.

I sighed in relief once I realised he stopped... But it only lasted for a few minutes. He started poking me with his pencil, ON THE SHARP LEAD SIDE. I couldn't help but shout “STOP IT!” which got every single person in the class' attention.
“Is there a problem, Miss Choi?” The teacher turned to me with her arms crossed.
I looked back at the boy who was acting innocent... Once again... And shook my head slowly. “No... Nothing is wrong...”
“Good.”

I turned my head to the side and looked at the boy evilly, who pulled an irritating cheeky face. I turned back to the board with my eyes arched, ignoring the boy. If it wasn't my first day, I swear I could've punched him in the face right about now.

Poke. Poke. Poke.

THAT WAS IT!!!

“I SAID STOP IT!!!” I stood up from my seat and punched the boy square on the face.

BAM!!! THUD!!!

He fell from his chair and let out a wince in pain. The females in the class looked at me with wide eyes and opened jaws, whilst the boys were clapping and cheering for some unknown reason.

“EYYYY! HE GOT PUNCHED BY A GIRL!”

“MISS CHOI! PRINCIPALS OFFICE, NOW!”

:

“So... Yeah... It was the guy's fault.” I finished.
“I understand. But Ririn, you know it's wrong to attack someone.”
“And whattup with the bruises?” Seung Hyun asked, tilting my chin with his thumb and index finger so he could see the bruises on my jaw area clearer. "The boy didn't get back up and punched you did he?!"
“Oh yeah...” I mumbled embarrassedly. “I kinda... Slipped on the way to the office and fell...Well... flat on my face.”

“Cluts.” Seung Hyun jokingly muttered, looking away with an amused expression.
