Find My Voice

Description

Red had always been Jeongmin's least favorite color. Some of the worst things from his memories share the hue. His aunt's cherry red lipstick; staining his skin a light pink. The liquid that seeped from his dog's body that night he watched his neighbor skin it. Rose petals that littered the sheets on the bed his father lied in with someone that wasn't his mother.

But he started to rethink his view on the color when he learned that it was a certain someone's favorite.

Red had always been Minwoo's very favorite color. All the good things were red, you. Strawberries, apples, cherries. Ahh, all the good flavors danced on his tongue as he though of the color. And a new one was added when he remembered a watermelon he once had; so juicy it was almost red. Well, not only food was good about this color. His favorite teacher wore red lipstick everyday to school. The sight of blood had always fascinated him. And who didn't love roses?

However, his most favorite think about the color red was that it often stained the cheeks of a certain someone whenever he happened a glance his way.

Foreword

Why won't he talk to me? Minwoo thought as he passed Jeongmin in the hall. Doesn't he have anyone that he talks to?

It was a well-known fact that Jeongmin never spoke up. Ever. No one in the whole school had heard the sound of his voice, except maybe the counselor. Some people called him the 'ice king' because he never even returned greetings in anyway. Not even a smile or a glance. He was just a total block of ice in every way possible.

But, surely, he has one friend, right? Surely someone has heard him speak.

No. He's never really had anyone beside him that wasn't a family member. No one had heard his voice since he was about fifteen-- almost two years now. He only spoke when absolutely necessary. He wanted to know if anyone would even notice. So far, no one has. And every day that goes by, he wonders why he's even still here.

No one notices him. No one bothers to really get to know him. He stopped returning greetings when he realized no one can or should ever get close to him. It's just too much of a hassle.

As always, Jeongmin's eyebrows are pulled together; a contemplative look on his face.

“You know, if you keep making that face,” his head snapped up right away; looking at the lips of who spoke to him, “you'll get really bad forehead wrinkles when you're older.”

Jeongmin didn't reply; simply ing his gaze back down to his desk as if it gravely offended him. He could, however, spare this person a small smile, though it wasn't really a smile. His face only softened a little before returning to its usual intense stare.

He heard the man chuckle softly, shaking his head. “I'm Minwoo...”

Jeongmin forced down a scoff. Of course he knew his name.

“Your's is Jeongmin... right?”

It went against everything he had and everything he built himself up for; but he nodded. He simply nodded, but that was enough. He had to convince himself it was enough.

“That's good to know.” he chuckled still. Jeongmin had to admit; he had a y chuckle. And even though he knew the school would be in a quiet rumble about his out of character actions today, he didn't care.

It was a very sad thing to admit; but that was probably the best thing that's happened to him in two years.

A/N: I know I really shouldn't be posting this but orz I need to okay. This one will have slow updates, being on the backburner to my other two stories ;;;; I'm sorry to do this to you ahaha Poster is soon to come, but I'm wondering whether I should make my own or get one. I'm not really good at angst posters like at all though. I guess I could try...

Anyway, thanks for reading~
