We all know what friend zone is, but what happens when you're being best friend zoned? Eric Nam supposes he should be thankful he isn't brother zoned yet, though. Then again, one never knew with Amber Josephine Liu, social butterfly of SM. Hell, she was the social butterfly period. Everyone knew she was friends with almost everyone, making it near impossible for Eric to figure out who she liked as more than friends. But she treated almost everyone the same as she did him, actions that frustrated the poor singer no end. What made things even worse was that they were best friends, just as they were best friends with Henry. Unfortunately for Eric, Henry knows that Eric is more than ready to go beyond friendship and the Canadian attempts to help out his friend in wooing Amber. But it all goes downhill when Henry accidentally let the cat out of the bag and almost everyone, but Amber, knows about Eric's little crush. And soon, everyone is eager to help out. The result? More unwanted interactions between Amber and males (unwanted by Eric, that is), and a very best friend zoned Eric Nam.
A/N: Yeps, another story, when I still have like 5 to update OTL. But due to an observation a friend and I made, there is a major lack of Eric Nam fics here on AFF. And apparently other sites as well. So, without further ado, I present to you Best Friend Zoned, written for ppeach2.
Foreword
"Why you blushing, bro?" The Canadian male looked at his best friend and tried to see Eric's line of vision only to see...Amber? And she was on the screen in the waiting room, dancing on the stage with the SHINee members before the show started. "Are you crushing on Amber?!"
The flustered singer slapped a hand over Henry's mouth, telling him a low hiss to shut up, but it was already too late.
The two were backstage at Show Champion, where Amber was MCing along with T-ara's Eunjung. Eric's promotion of Heaven's Door had ended a long while ago, but occasionally came back with Henry and the f(x) members to visit the short-haired girl. After all, they were best friends and best friends support each other. Well, Eric wished they were more than best friends, but that was beyond the point at the moment because some of that week's guest, the BTOB boys and Ukiss members, were looking at the pair with undisguised interest and were making their way towards them.
"Now you've done it," Eric groaned to himself as he saw a large group of males approach them. He stood up and bowed to BTOB and Ukiss members, who in turn bowed back. Henry stood and did the same, a mischievous grin on his face.
"Hey man, what's up?" Immediately, the English speakers (Henry, Eric, Eli, Kevin, and Peniel) did their "bro hug" and began speaking in rapid English, laughing uproariously as the others tried to interject in the conversation.
Eventually, Ilhoon piped up, "Can you guys shut up and tell us what that outburst about Amber noona was about?"
The non-English speakers agreed with the young male and looked expectantly at Eric, who was now hiding behind Kevin, and Henry, who was sporting a playful smirk.
"Well you see here," Henry starting, dragging Eric from behind his hiding place, "our dearest Eric seems to have a crush on a certain tomboy rapper."
Immediately, the small waiting room was erupting with screams and shouts as Eric tried to shrink away from the chaos. But to no avail, as Henry had a headlock on him to keep him from escaping. Still holding the other's head in a headlock, Henry asked the males as though Eric wasn't there, "So can you guys help me? Because poor Eric seems to be friend zoned."
Kevin snickered and said, "You mean best friend zoned?" And he shared a high five with Eli and Peniel.
Eric mumbled something about idiots ruining his life and having no crush, and what the hell was best friend zone, and everyone was mental. But no one paid him any attention as everyone else in the room said, "Oh, we are so helping."
Changsub chimed in, "My little Amber deserves the best, so we're getting everyone to help out."
Little did Eric know that when Changsub said everyone, he meant everyone. But there was no turning back from the chaos that was about to start, beginning with the bringing out of Eric's jealousy.
