Standing in the Dark

Description

Please don’t leave me…

The familiar tune of Evanescence’s Bring Me to Life blared through the headphones hanging around his neck. A frown adorned his handsome features as he stared up at the starless, dark night sky.

“J…Jin…young…..”

Her voice rang inside his head. Her usual twinkling eyes – that was an odd yet unique color – were dull and lifeless. The sweet grin that was always plastered on her lips was gone.  He’ll no longer her melodious laugh nor will he see her beautiful face. He blinked as he felt something pelting down his skin. He turned his gaze towards the sky and saw that it was raining.

“G…Good…bye”

The screeching of tires sounded so real, as if what happened yesterday had just been replayed. And it broke his heart. He could see her face twisting into an expression of unmatched pain. Blood dripped down from her temples, soaking the road and creating a pool of crimson beneath. He shook his head, trying to throw the image out of his head, out of his mind, out of his memories. But…it kept coming back. As if it was taunting him, mocking him that he didn’t do anything to save her.

He felt so cold and lost. The rain poured down heavily yet he didn’t mind that he was getting soak nor did he mind that he might get sick. If anything, he just wants to freeze there to death. His heart felt heavier as he clutched the necklace with circular pendant that had a ‘J’ carved in a Gothic style that was made with series of ruby gems.

“Congratulations Jinnie~ I always knew you could do it!~”

He sighed deeply as he recalled their High School graduation day. He had managed to retain to be the class’ top student and had graduated with such honor. As a gift, she gave him the necklace stating which chain was long enough for the pendant to rest against his chest.

“Welp~ So you could always know that I’m always with you. Maybe not physically but I will always be in your heart~”

That was the answer she gave him when he asked to why was the chain was so long. He shut his eyes and seized the pendant closer to where his heart laid. He lowered down his head as his free hand gripped his knee tightly.

And for the first time in years, Jung Jinyoung broke down into tears.

… standing in the dark.

Foreword

Hello!~

This is my second one-shot and the first one in months that I’ve done that is K-Pop related. Hehe.
Anyways, I’m warning you guys. It’s kind of long-ish. But…please do read it!

And...
I want to thank  the following:
My dear beloved (yet flirty) mommy, who helped me out with this and was very supportive regardless of the fact that ‘she’ always insert ‘daddy’s’ name during our conversation and as well as giving the ‘Standing in the Dark’ title, the one that I’ve based the story on.
My beloved unnie, Ate Kring, who cheered me on while working this. I knew there was a reason why I love you so much! Just kidding! xD  You know I always love you ate!
To my crazy punkin, who also extended her support through reading hehe.
Last but not the least to my friends who messaged me back when I was having a dilemma.

HAVE FUN READING! ^_^
