SUMI's POV:

"Sumi-ah, there's someone I like who is not Luhan-oppa.."

  That was what my best friend, Nabi, told me before disappearing four days ago.   .   "Sumi! Where do you think you're going at this hour? Wait!" I heard my eomma yell as I made a dash out the door.   "I'll be right back!"   .   I rang the door bell impatiently and a middle-aged lady opened the door. She was most likely Nabi's mother. "Annyeong hasseyo! I'm Jung Sumi, a junior from XX high school and Nabi's friend. I was wondering if you knew where she is."   "Oh my goodness!" She gasped as I spoke breathlessly. "Come inside first dear."   She let me rest on their leather couch before asking furthermore. "What brings you here?"   I swallowed my saliva and began to explain.   .   I barged into Luhan-sunbae's room after gaining permission from his mom. "Sunbae!"   He looked surprised to see me. Well, it was already nighttime after all. "Oh, Sumi-ah, what's up?"   I held out a piece of paper in front of him. "I know where Nabi is!"   Luhan-sunbae stared at the paper wordlessly.   "Actually, her mom phoned her and I talked to her for a short while. She's staying near this station and said I shouldn't tell anyone else."   Luhan-sunbae slowly took the paper from my hand and read it. "Just where is this place."   I shook my head. "Molla."   Luckily, sunbae was smart enough to look it up on the internet but when we finally figured out where it was, our faces instantly fell. "This is pretty far." He sighed. I followed with a slight nod.   "What would Nabi be doing there? Do you think she's with someone?" Sunbae suddenly asked.   I shrugged my shoulders. "I never got to ask. The call was pretty quick." I then slowly glanced up at Luhan-sunbae to see what kind of face he was making. He looked a bit too unaffected with those bright eyes of his but I continued. "She also told me not to tell anyone but I thought it was best to tell you."   Sunbae was just staring at me with his dark orbs. "What are we supposed to do at a time like this?" I followed up.   Luhan-sunbae sighed deeply and rested his cheek on his palm. "What's a boy supposed to do when his girlfriend suddenly runs off?"   He turned his attention back to the map on the computer. "Just where is this place anyway? Dammit.."   I suddenly remembered what happened the day before Nabi ran away.     "What?" I asked in disbelief. "You like someone else? What about Luhan-sunbae?"   Nabi chuckled before answering my question. "I'll give him to you, Sumi-ah."   That did it. She said it as if sunbae was a thing that could be passed from one person to another. And so, I gave her a slap across her cheek. "Don't be stupid!"     "Let's go.." I muttered. Luhan-sunbae looked at me confusingly. I pointed to the screen at where the train station was. "Let's go look for her."   .   And so, we set off to find her the morning after.   .   "Hurry up, Sumi-ah!" Luhan-sunbae shouted from the door of the train.   "Coming!" I hollered as I was desperately trying to beat out the time, but it was nearly impossible with the heavy plastic bag I was bringing. Just as I stepped in, the doors closed. I slumped down against it and caught my breath. "I.. Somehow.. Made it.."   I saw sunbae look at me weirdly. He furrowed his eyebrows in the process. "What did you buy so much of?"   "Some boxed lunches, sweets and tea." I grinned goofily. "See the thing is.. I've got a big appetite."   .     *Ah, he didn't have to laugh at me so much.*   "Mianhae." He said while still laughing quite a bit. "It's just that it's new for me because Nabi didn't really eat that much."   I was practically scolding myself for being so unladylike.    "But Sumi-ah, are you sure today is a good day? I mean, midterms are coming up and all."   I hummed as I stuffed a piece of kimbap in my mouth. "I guess.."   "I could've gone by myself." He pointed out.   "But!" I unintentionally raised my voice but lowered it back down. "Just before she left, we had a fight and I hit her so I want to apologize." Truthfully, I just wanted to spend time with Luhan-sunbae before he goes back to Nabi again. Call me selfish but it's the truth.   After a few moments of silence, Luhan-sunbae sighed and stared out the passing scenery. "I wonder if anything will change if we go.."   I stiffened as he started to bring up that topic again.   "I knew things were getting bad between us. We hardly saw each other anymore. She was always busy with cram school.. I even started to doubt her. I couldn't tell her that though. But it never escaped my mind."   The lump in my throat started to form but I forced it down. Nabi had hurt him deeply. "Sunbae.. Of course it's hard to say that sort of stuff, especially when you love her.."   Luhan-sunbae then glanced at me. "Hmm.. You really do eat a lot huh, Sumi-ah?"   I almost choked on my food as I was caught off guard. "I-I won't eat anymore. I'll throw the rest away!" I gathered all the untouched food and prepared to stuff them in the empty plastic bag.   "Don't! Mianhae! I was wrong!" He waved his hands in front of him. "Speaking of which, I remember when we were working at the library back in middle school, you were always eating-"   I pouted and he automatically clamped his mouth shut. "I-I didn't mean it that way!"   I sighed. "Kwaenchanayo.. But speaking of which, that brings back memories."   "Nn. You and I were together all the time during those two years." Sunbae added.   You and I. I sure do like that phrase.   "How strange." He suddenly chuckled, bringing me out of my thoughts. "Even though we went to the same primary and middle school, and the fact that I've known you longer than Nabi.." He paused and rested his head against the window. "This is the first time we've ever talked like this."   Sunbae looked strangely attractive in that position, though he always was in my eyes.   Every time my eyes met his, my heart would leap up a hundred feet out of my chest, to the point that it's painful. But I don't hate that kind of pain.   Yes, this was the first time. It was because I could never look at him straight in the face. But sunbae, always, always had the very same smile that made me fall for him in the first place.   I could still remember that day clearly, as if it was yesterday.     "Luhan-sunbae! Cogratulations on graduating!" I bowed as I gave him a congratulatory bouquet.   "Gomawo, dongsaeng-ah." He said as he ruffled my hair.     My legs were shaking. My throat was dry. And I thought that my heart was gonna leap out of my mouth. And with all the courage I accumulated, I was finally going to say it.     "I like you sunbae! Please go out with me!"   Luhan-sunbae was probably gonna laugh at my lame confession but he did the opposite and gave me a smile.   "Sumi-ah, I think you're a kind and thoughtful girl. You're never late to meetings and you're serious with your work."   "Uh, yes! Uh, I mean.." I could only make out incoherent words and stutter. The feeling was overwhelming.   Luhan-sunbae continued on. "You're handwriting is neat and easy to read. You've helped me in more ways than one, Sumi-ah."   "Er, no, not at all! I just.." God, I just want to crawl in a hole right now.     But that hope was crushed in that very moment.     "But I'm a slacker, Sumi-ah. I do things halfway and I don't think I'd be good
