Movie Night

Description

Siwon knew he was wondering aimlessly, and was surprised when he also realised he didn't care. His usual purposeful walk had been replaced by a dull and depressed drag, because he had things on his mind other than his normally prized appearance.

Kyu had finally had enough. He'd ended it. He'd broken up with him. Siwon sighed heavily, raising a hand to scratch his faint stubble. He supposed he should have seen it coming, Kyu had been acting strange for a while now but...this suddenly?

Kyu had sat him down on the sofa and looked him up and down a couple of times before shaking his head.

"I...look Siwon..." Siwon's heart had sunk at that point, already sensing what was coming, "I don't think this is working. I'm sorry, I've been trying to feel how I did when we first met but-"

"It's not there anymore," Siwon had interrupted him, wanting to spare him any discomfort. He could see this was hard to Kyu to do. "I get it Kyuhyun." Kyu's face had looked so...relieved when he was leaving, that was the thing that hurt most. This must have been bothering him. He, Siwon, had been bothering him.

He didn't realise where he was going until he noticed himself unconsciously relaxing and the little familiar spark of happiness igniting in his stomach. Looking up and tuning into the world again he saw he was right and smiled. The block of large apartments was somewhere he went often. The third level to be exact. The apartment owned by Lee Donghae.

He used to come here a lot to see Hae, but since they'd both gotten into relationships - after years of stupidness and him and Hyukjae had finally admitted they liked each other- they'd been spending less time together. If Siwon was honest, he knew the real reason.

He'd always had a thing for both of them, a helpless crush which had started when they'd all met years ago. Seeing them together, as cute as he found it, was always slightly painful. He figured if he separated himself a little for a while and concentrated on his relationship with Kyu his feelings for the two boys would fade.

Of course...that hadn't really gone to plan. Siwon laughing bitterly to himself as he jogged up the stairs. There was an elevator obviously, but he believed that you should always take the opportunity to exercise your body if it was possible. Reaching his friend’s door and taking a deep breath to compose himself, he knocked on the wood.

“Jesus, I thought you were never going to-” A voice chuckled as the door swung open, and there stood a surprised looking Hyukjae in a dressing gown. “Oh, Siwon?…Sorry I thought…you were the pizza guy…”

His red hair (well, it was meant to be red, but it seemed to have faded to a dark pink) was flat and messy, which was unusual, normally he styled it to perfection. He was obviously slightly embarrassed about being seen by in a dressing gown with teddies on it, because he looked down at it and blushed.

“This dressing gown is Hae’s ok? Sorry, erm, come in. I’m just going to…change.” He grinned and turned away, obviously assuming Siwon would find his own way. As much as he hated to admit it, he thought as he closed the door behind him, Hyukjae only seemed to have gotten cuter since the last time he saw him, which was only a couple of weeks ago.

Automatically navigating Donghae’s house he wondered into the lounge to see Donghae lying on the sofa with his hands hovering above his head, playing with the tv remote absentmindedly. As Siwon watched the remote slipped out of his grip and landed on his nose, making him squeak in surprise and sit up, which is when he saw Siwon standing in the doorway watching him.

“Oh!” He exclaimed, still holding his nose which made his voice nasally, “You just saw that didn’t you?”

Siwon laughed and nodded, jumping onto the sofa and putting Donghae in a playful headlock.

“You’re an idiot, I missed you.” He chuckled while Donghae was muttering protests into his chest. They were still giggling and play fighting when Hyukjae walked in now dressed in skinny jeans and a wife-beater. They both stopped straight away, Siwon feeling guilty at being caught, well, flirting. He looked at Hyukjae and gulped, partly because of what he’d walked in on and partly because the tight material he wore showed off every single curve of his muscles.

“What? Like what you see?” Hyuk stage whispered and winked, making Siwon splutter and instantly turn red, “Hey, why did you two stop? Don’t mind me, it was cute.”

“Hyuk, stop it, look at his face.” Donghae pinched Siwon’s burning cheek, “Ignore him, you know what he’s like.”

“I’m only like this if I think someone’s hot.” He corrected, smirking from where he was sprawled out on the armchair opposite. He looked completely relaxed, like he hadn’t just said he found one of his closest friends hot while his boyfriend sat next to him. Siwon opened and closed his mouth, flustered. “Wonnie, don’t do that, you look like a fish.”

“Don’t call me Wonnie.” Siwon said, crinkling his nose with distaste, glad of something to say, “It makes me sound like a child.”

The doorbell rang, saving all of them from an awkward silence. Hyukjae said he’d get it, waving mischievously at Donghae as he left but getting only an eye roll and a small smile in response. As soon as he was out of the room Donghae apologized, then locked eyes with Siwon seriously.

“So, what’s wrong? You don’t come see me much anymore…and you always tell me when you’re coming if you do so I figured something must be up.” Of course he knew. Donghae had always been strangely good at picking up on little things other people wouldn’t notice.

“Well, you’re right something’s wrong, I, erm…sorry I should have called, I didn’t know Hyuk was round-”

“Don’t worry about it.” Hyukjae said, suddenly appearing with 4 steaming cardboard boxes of pizza, “we were just going to have a movie night anyway. And make out instead of watch the movie.”

“Hyuk!”

“Sorry baby,” Donghae cringed at the pet name which made Hyukjae grin wider, “So what’s wrong, Wonnie?”

Siwon glared at Hyukjae before wondering how to respond. Could he really say he came here seeking comfort after his break up? That would seem strange now that he thought about it, as if he expected something to happen by coming here when he was fragile. Truthfully…maybe he’d just wanted Donghae to hold him…wow, there was no way he was admitting that.

“Well I…” He trailed off. Maybe he could think of a lie and tell them another time.

“It’s not Kyu, is it?” Donghae’s worried tone broke down Siwon’s defenses, and he suddenly felt the emotion that had been numbed from the second Kyu had ended things. He bit his lip to stop any sob that might have escaped, and dropped his head, hiding his face.

But that was enough for Donghae. He scooted closer and wrapped his arms around him, rubbing his back and resting a head on his shoulder. Out of the corner of his vision which was now glazed with tears, Siwon saw Hyukjae put the pizza down and sit on the other side, choosing instead to his hair and make little shushing noises.

“He broke up with me.” Siwon whimpered.

“It’s ok, don’t cry, it’s ok…” Donghae mumbled over and over while continuing to rub circles on his shoulders. Eventually, Siwon came to his senses and took a deep breath through his nose, calming himself before straightening up.

“Sorry.”

Hyukjae shrugged as if to say it was fine with him, then smiled at him, different from his normal smiles. This one wasn’t a smirk or a naughty grin, just a kind and innocent smile which made Siwon’s heart swell. Meanwhile, Donghae had cupped Siwon’s face in his hands.

“You don’t need to apologize to us, we’re here to help you.” He whispered, then leaned in and pressed his lips to Siwon’s cheek. He froze. Did that…really just happen? His lips were soft and warm, and from so close Siwon could smell his comfortingly familiar, slightly vanilla scent. He felt the need to pinch himself, but before he could respond, Donghae pulled away and walked quickly out.

“I’m going to go and make some popcorn!” He called out, not looking back. “Tell me if you guys want anything.”

“Sorry.” Siwon said to Hyukjae as soon as he was out of hearing distance. Hyukjae’s lips pulled into a weirdly knowing smile and he cocked his head to the side.

“I don’t mind. Actually I thought it was kinda hot.” Siwon widened his eyes incredulously at him. He’d just watched his boyfriend kiss another guy and he didn’t seem bothered at all.

“But I…”

“Sh.” Hyukjae said swiftly. He was looking at Siwon’s lips, still with that strange little smile plastered on his face. He couldn’t be thinking about what Siwon thought he was, right? But his suspicions were confirmed when he started to get closer, confidently placing a hand on the sofa behind his head a tilting his head to steal a kiss from his lips. It was like Siwon had imagined it would be on the rare moments he’d allowed his mind to wonder…Hyuk’s lips were way too controlled and precise to be a beginner, he’d probably done this many times before.

It only lasted a few seconds before he returned to his original position, having the good grace to at least look a little embarrassed. But Siwon’s mind was in turmoil. What was happening tonight? Why were they both being like this? Was he going to get between them?

“H-Hyuk…” He said in a choked voice. Hyukjae put both hands behind his head to lean back against the sofa, sighed and fixed his eyes firmly on the ceiling before speaking.

“If I’m honest, I’ve always wanted to do that. Me and Hae have had conversations about you before. We both liked, as in liked, you those years we were friends, just…not quite as much as we liked each other you know?”

“That was tactful Hyuk.” Donghae said, rolling his eyes and walking in holding a massive bowl of popcorn. Siwon groaned and put his head in his hands. Had he really just heard all of that?

“I’m going to the bathroom.” Siwon suddenly said, practically running out the room and leaning against the door, breathing hard. He wasn’t prepared for any of this, and he didn’t understand it one bit. Why were they both ok with all of this? Suddenly, he heard voices from the other side of the door.

“What did you even do, he seemed shaken…”

Hyuk’s voice sounded sheepish when he told Donghae what he’d said and what he’d done. Then came…Donghae’s laugh?

“You ! I can’t believe you kissed him, Jesus Christ…you’re going to scare him away.”

“You started it.” Hyukjae said grumpily, “Anyway...I love you, so…”

“Love you too, even if you kiss our crush behind my back.” Donghae replied in a teasing voice, and there was the sound of struggling and manic giggling that sounded like one of their frequent tickle fights.

Donghae had just referred to him as ‘our crush’. He was their crush. They both had a crush on him. And he had a crush on them. But they loved each other. Siwon couldn’t get his head around it, since when had things been so complicated between them?...But then…it wasn’t complicated at all.

They all liked each other, they had done for years, and maybe- deep down-they all knew it. Their close relationship was always difficult for outsiders to understand. Suddenly Siwon felt an overwhelming sense of happiness, because wasn’t this the best he could hope for?

“Siwon, what movie do you want to watch? We have Titanic or Moulin Rouge!” Hyukjae’s voice called out. Siwon heard Donghae’s muffled complaint about sad films making him cry and something about Finding Nemo before Hyukjae laughed at him and their tickle fight started again. Eventually, Siwon built up enough courage to go in.

“Oh, hello you!” Donghae said brightly, scrambling up from underneath Hyukjae and offering him a seat. It was a little bit small for 3 grown men, but secretly he didn’t mind that they were squished together, and he wasn’t sure if it was on purpose, but he had been put in the middle too. The film started (They’d chosen Moulin Rouge after Donghae insisted he’d sob embarrassingly over Titanic) and after 20 minutes they’d finished the popcorn and pizza. However, after about an hour Siwon heard a tired little groan and turned his attention away from the movie. Hyukjae’s eyes were drooping, and eventually his body went limp as he fell asleep completely, head coming to rest on Siwon’s shoulder where he subtly snuggled in, contented.

“Mmm, I’m sleepy too,” Donghae mumbled, smiling dopily and looking at Siwon through his eyelashes, “Night night Wonnie.”

For once, as Donghae curled up and put his head in Siwon’s lap, then started snoring softly, he found he didn’t mind the nickname. In fact, as his own eyelids started to get heavy, he decided he quite liked it.

His last thought before he drifted off to sleep was that the two boys either side of him were the things that made him the most happy, and no matter what happened in the future, or what he had to do, he was going to keep them by his side.

That was quite cute and it ended at the right point. Luckily, not so cheesy and fluffy.
