Junho leaned back in his chair and lifted his feet to rest them on the table. Taecyeon and Chansung sat to his left, and Nichkhun to his right. Wooyoung was resting, peacefully. Well, he hoped he was; he wondered what type of pain he was going through. To experience that much loss of control and pain, he had to have at least a dozen levels to the bond with Zahi – especially if the side-effects were as severe as they were. Then again, that also meant the bond was very old and powerful.

“You look deep in thought, Junho.” Nichkhun commented.

“I’ve never sensed the bond before...” Junho said quietly. “You know, I’m beginning to realise how sheltered of a life we’ve lived up until now.” That statement received nods from the three. “I can’t imagine what he’s gone through...we’ve only seen glimpses.”

“There’s a long history in this coven.” Nichkhun said. “We all come from different eras and regions in history. Some are no longer with us...” Nichkhun commented. “But...I’m worried. I remember when Wooyoung used to talk quite fondly of his master...but now I’m thinking, 'I don’t know which he was referring to'.”

“Yeah...” Chansung agreed. “I remember in my early years asking him who made him. He said I might meet him one day. I knew then he was an Ancient, but I guess it never really clicked. He implied that the thing...ah, well the circumstances around his creation weren’t terrible. I guess it was because he was actually born an immortal and not created with a choice?”

“Yeah...that seems like it.” Junho assured. Although, he would never know. Sometimes he felt at odds with the others because Wooyoung had shared so much with him about the past. He wasn’t sure what he was allowed to divulge to the others and what he wasn’t. “We just know he’s lied to keep things a secret...he was that terrified...”

Taecyeon sighed noisily and collapsed back into the couch. “So, no one really knows anything about this Helios guy?”

“Well...I just know he was exiled. I didn’t realise it was because of Wooyoung and how he treated him.” Nichkhun answered. “I wonder how far back that goes because it isn’t really clear.”

“What about combining forces with Fortune and Luna?” Taecyeon added. “Has that happened before?”

“I’ve only ever seen Sano and Marigold at the meetings. I’m too young to know how far back the allegiances are between the clans – but I do know Wooyoung has history with Sano, too.” Nichkhun replied tiredly. He rubbed his shoulder. “Apparently Zahi is the leader of Luna but he never attends meetings.”

“And he’s supposedly coming for training and fighting?” Junho asked. “Well...I’d be curious to see who Wooyoung is bonded to and why he has such a hold over him.”

     “I think we all are.”

“Anyway...we should get some sleep.” Junho gestured to Taecyeon. “It would be best to get to the Old Forest by morning, so we have the day to look for what we need.”

     “Good point...”

*

Wooyoung trailed his hands over Taecyeon’s arm as he walked with them down to the entrance. “You’ll really be okay?” He asked them for the millionth time.

“Honestly, you make it seem like I haven’t come across some unfriendly foes before.” Junho grumbled. “Will you be okay? Maybe one of us should stay. Chansung and Nichkhun are going to have to deal with your episodes...”

Wooyoung smacked his shoulder. “Don’t get sassy with me. Or...is it because I haven’t touched you in a long time, my beautiful mage?” Wooyoung latched himself onto him and kissed his neck.

“Ah! No! Taecyeon, help!” Junho flailed and tried to stop him, but no avail.

“I do miss your wonderful moans, my little mage.” Wooyoung sighed disheartened. Holding the warm mage as close as he could. “Come hurrying back, okay? I miss you already...” He whispered in his ear.

“Shut up...” Junho blushed, but collapsed against him. “You always take advantage of me in my sleep...”

“Oh, but you like it when I do and when I’m done.” Wooyoung chuckled and bounded down the stairs. He honestly felt so much lighter.

“You shouldn’t pick on him so much, Wooyoung.” Chansung sighed. “He’s really going to slug you one of these days.”

“The pains of love,” Wooyoung cooed. “Besides, my poor little mage hasn’t been sleeping well, Chansung.” Wooyoung was pinching Junho’s cheeks again, “right?”

The tired mage bat away his hands and spun out of reach. “Whose fault is that?”

Wooyoung laughed and they came to the foyer. “Nothing de-stresses you better than a good love-session.”

“Ah! That sounds so lewd!” Junho grumbled, covering his ears. “Can you believe that, Chansung? Love-session, of all things...” Chansung laughed behind his hand.

“I for one like them very much.” Taecyeon said with a grin.

“Yeah...we all know that.” The three said in unison.

“Hey, don’t be rude. I just know what I like and want.” Taecyeon sniffled. “Alright, we should go before it gets too late. We wanna be back sooner than later.”

“Wait!” Changmin called. He raced over to them. “New message from the Council, hurry and read it before I head out.”

Wooyoung accepted and read it quickly. “They want to have the meeting here? Who was the messenger?” Changmin shrugged and sighed. Wooyoung crushed the note in his hand. “Everyone is too vulnerable to have a meeting right now.”

“A trap...” Chansung said quietly. “I noticed some presences when I was watching over Nichkhun. Wispy.”

Wooyoung stilled and looked up at the ceiling. Gems rested there, but none were shimmering. “When anyone came into the foyer, was the green stone glistening?” He pointed up.

“I didn’t notice.” Junho said. “My wards fluctuated sometimes, but I'm sure nothing ever got in.”

“Next time keep tabs on that for me in the future, Junho.”

     “Right...sorry.”

“And that’s why I believe you shouldn’t be fighting yet...”

     They all shrugged.

“You should have taught us more about this earlier.” Junho reprimanded. “We’re going now. Send me updates.”

     “Yeah, yeah...” Wooyoung grumbled.

“You gonna be alright, Mr. Hwang?” Taecyeon asked.

“Of course, now I can corner him wherever and whenever I want,” Chansung said with a secretive smile.

“You’re in trouble, Wooyoung.” Junho teased and started towards the door.

“At least you get to have a fun adventure. I on the other hand have to prepare for some old hooded bigots.” Wooyoung huffed. “Please take care.” He waved and they returned the gesture before leaving.

“Why now, Wooyoung?” Chansung asked quietly.

     “Why what?”

“Why tell me about Nichkhun now?”

Wooyoung sauntered towards the East Wing and tugged him along. “Maybe I’m beginning to realise the fault of my ways.”

“Did you think about my feelings?”

     “I did.”

Chansung hauled him back and gripped his chin. “Are you really Jang Wooyoung?”

That was a bit of an odd question. Wooyoung closed his eyes and focused on Chansung’s body. “I think so...you’re tired...”

Chansung tried to move back, but Wooyoung kept him close. “I thought about what you said...I really don’t feel the bond anymore. So, why do you keep me close?”

Wooyoung shrugged. “I guess I just like having your presence with me. After all, Chansung, you and I have been together, nearly inseparable for a long time. Why wouldn’t I want you close to me?”

Chansung didn’t seem satisfied with the answer. Wooyoung wouldn’t have been either. He wanted to see how persistent he would be. “Remember when Taecyeon was locked in the basement of the mansion?”

“Yes, how could I forget?” Wooyoung asked, his voice a little more harsh.

     “I’m sorry...”

Wooyoung sighed. “What about it, Chansung?” He was truly annoyed with the apologies. It was quite out of character.

“That was when I began to feel out of place here...and when I thought I could try with Nichkhun once more. But...now he remembers nothing about me.” Chansung’s voice grew softer with each and every word. “You’re not the only one who made mistakes.” Wooyoung smiled gently. Chansung collapsed against the wall. “I guess...I thought you would hate me if I said my feelings for you and Taecyeon were changing...”

“This is how I know you are Nichkhun’s First.” He chuckled. “You both think that with the decisions you make you’re going to hurt someone...when by not doing the action you hurt someone anyway.”

     Chansung nodded. “Yeah...you’re right.”

Wooyoung clasped their hands together. “Our little game ran its course, ne?” Wooyoung turned away. He wasn’t able to keep Chansung happy for as long as he had hoped.

“It was never a game to me...”

Wooyoung was pulled back. “Listen...” Wooyoung let Chansung kiss him. It wasn’t like before, but it was something he needed. So...this is what it felt like for passionate feelings to die. It was almost sad.

“It might be too late for me and him...but I need to give it a shot.” Chansung murmured. “In some ways...him not having his memories is a blessing for both of us. I don’t want him to have those memories of me anymore...so, thanks for freeing him for me.”

Wooyoung watched him leave. He felt a presence behind him. Turning, Nichkhun leaned in a doorway, shirt open, and plain black slacks. He pivoted on his heel back to Chansung who was turning up the Central staircase.

“It seems with my request...I freed both of us.”

“There are still bad feelings.” Wooyoung said. “Something has been amiss ever since you got hurt. Tell me...if Chansung saw the wisps...don’t you think he would have told me immediately?”

Nichkhun had come to stand next to him. “Yes...I think he would have.”

“I fear with freedom, there will be karma.” Reaching up he gripped his robe tightly. He was in pain already.

“Do you think these episodes are also linked to an eroding bond?”

Wooyoung clutched Nichkhun’s arm tightly. “It might be a combination of things. I’ve never felt this way before...”

“Let’s get you to a couch.” Nichkhun lifted him up and lay him down. “You’re really worrying me.”

“I’m tired of this weakness.” He rested his arm over his eyes. On the day Taecyeon and Junho leave he just had to have an episode. They were becoming more and more frequent.

“Wooyoung, where is everyone?” Nichkhun asked as he faced the door.

“Changmin handed me a request from the Council and left to run some final errands in the city. As for the rest of the coven...I don’t know actually. After the party I don’t remember much.” He answered. Then he felt them, everywhere. He shot up and pulled Nichkhun to a wall. A loud shriek filled the hall. Wooyoung opened the wall and pulled him inside. Closing it promptly, he waited. Nichkhun’s hand was trembling against his side. There must have been a dozen souls out there. Wooyoung gripped Nichkhun’s hand comfortingly and pulled him down the slender space.

     “You have secret tunnels?”

“I install them personally into every mansion. It's quite easy actually.” Wooyoung whispered. He came to a split and dropped to the floor. He lay his palm flat and focused on Chansung’s energy. Every room in the house was searched. Nothing. He would have to expand his search later. Something was off. He was too weak to teleport both him and Nichkhun, they would have to escape the old fashion way: running. “How are you feeling, Nichkhun?”

“Fit for a stroll...” Nichkhun answered. “By the way, I recall that shrieking noise...but I can’t seem to place it.”

Wooyoung stared at him for many seconds. Then it all clicked and he snarled. ‘Damn that woman into oblivion!’ He could not waste any time. He pulled him down the right hall. Speedily, they made their way until they came to the end. He moved forward slowly and pulled out a sliver of the wall. Peeking out he noticed the bodies of his coven members strewn over the floor. Jerking back he held back a pained cry. No wonder he had been so weak and his episodes so frequent, nearly all of his coven were dead. Opening the small door, he crawled out and looked around. He was lucky it was the early morning. Motioning for Nichkhun to follow, his First came to stand close to him and they exited out the window. "But everyone is..." Nichkhun trailed off and grit his teeth. They took off for the woods. Wooyoung knew the best place to go from here.

~Emergency, emergency. The Hunter’s have hit the Astrum clan. Numbers of deceased unknown. Please send back up.~

     ~Is that a request for help I hear, Wooyoung?~

Wooyoung’s teeth clenched together. Damn him for answering first. ~Yes, you bastard.~

     ~Wooyoung! What’s going on?~ Junho called.

~Did you notice anything off about Chansung in the past little while?~

~I thought he seemed fine. Only after the day Nichkhun’s memories were taken did he really change.~

Wooyoung shut his eyes tight. Where the hell was he?!

Hearing a loud shriek, he gazed back. They were gaining. Where was adequate help when you needed it? He saw a flash of red and black. His senses were going into a frenzy, no wonder things had turned out the way they did. He never even noticed the other’s coming. Slowly coming to a stop, Wooyoung collapsed to his knees. He vomited blood. He couldn’t believe he was at this stage already.

“That doesn’t look normal no matter how you look at it.”

     Sano.

     “You bastards...”

     Warm arms scooped him up.

     “Zahi..?”

“I will bring you to him.” Sano held him tightly. “Were you trying to destroy yourself and your clan, Wooyoung?”

“My clan...” His voice wavered. Finally he was able to focus. “My...they’re all gone...” He murmured helplessly. Sano’s concerned eyes were focused entirely on him. “Nichkhun-

     “I’m right here.” Nichkhun assured.

“We’ve got you, Wooyoung.” Sano assured and called out commands to his faction. He collapsed completely; his body was at its limit.

*

Nichkhun sat quietly beside Wooyoung’s bedside. He looked paler than ever. What was he supposed to do? Tightening his grip on his hair he nearly jumped out of his skin when a hand ran over his shoulder. A handsome man stood there. For some reason he calmed instantly; Nichkhun didn’t know why, but he just could not feel tense in his presence.

“Be calm, young one. You’re quite safe here.” He said quietly. “May I ask if you require anything?” How could his voice be so soothing? Nichkhun watched as he sat down beside Wooyoung. He would do well not to be too trusting.

     “I..who are you?”

The man chuckled and crossed his legs. His expression went neutral as he began. “My name is Zahi, the so-called leader of Luna.” Nichkhun rose immediately and bowed. “Oh! Before you say anything, I would prefer you just relax, thanks.” Nichkhun hesitated but retook his seat slowly. “I have never seen Wooyoung this bad before. Tell me, Nichkhun?”

     Nichkhun nodded.

“Did he drink anyone’s blood in the past week?”

Nichkhun tried to think back on it. He shook his head, “only Taecyeon’s I think. May have been after his second collapse... I’m sorry, I’ve been incapacitated due to a wound from the Hunter’s.”

Nichkhun couldn’t help but stare. Zahi trailed his fingers over Wooyoung’s palm slowly. “Before the Council meeting, I had already been monitoring the Astrum mansion. It’s something I did from time to time to make sure Wooyoung was alright. It isn’t mine and Wooyoung’s bond that is causing this – although it is showcasing the regular characteristics...” Nichkhun nodded. “Our bond was affecting him the night you went to the meeting, that much I can establish. However, when you returned to your villa...I felt a change there. His Wolf has never appeared without his consent before. It took a long time for him to tame that part of himself, but it would have never appeared the way it did without instigation.”

“But...that would imply it has something to do with me-

“Oh no, no love,” Zahi assured, and his fingers tapped his injured shoulder. “This is what started it.”

     “How did you..?”

Zahi smiled. “I’m a bit of an odd sort.” Nichkhun couldn’t help but nod a little, which made Zahi laugh. “What colour was the blade? Do you remember?”

     Nichkhun nodded, “red...”

“The Hunter’s have three distinct blade colours: silver, gold, and red. A red blade is infused with someone or something else’s essence.” Zahi explained. “I’m surprised Wooyoung even allowed that inside his residence.”

“Well...he wasn’t exactly conscious. Is...is that why we can’t find Chansung?”

“I’ll have to save interrogations for the arrival of that wonderful mage and...Taecyeon, was it?” Zahi had risen once more.

“Yes, Junho and Taecyeon,” he answered. “Um...Zahi...are we really safe here?” He finally asked worriedly. He did not want a repeat or surprise attack when Wooyoung was this weak.

When the tall man crouched down before him, Nichkhun couldn’t help feeling a bit nervous. No wonder Wooyoung has such a strong liking to him, he wasn’t only gorgeous but powerful too. Nichkhun had to admit it was rather intoxicating, and he almost lost focus on him. “Nichkhun Horvejkul, you are safe here.”

Wooyoung groaned and began shifting on the bed. He shot up and stared at them. “Wooyoung-

“Did you do anything to him?” Wooyoung asked suspiciously.

“After all these years, why can’t you trust me?” Zahi asked and moved forward. “If you’ll excuse us, Nichkhun, I have some business with your master.”

“We can do this with him here.” Wooyoung’s tone was low and threatening. He really did not want to be alone, but Nichkhun didn’t want to face anyone else’s wrath that day.

“Wooyoung...I’m tired. I’m scared. I just don’t want anymore stress. I’m worried about Chansung, we still can’t find him. Junho and Taecyeon haven’t made any updates. Whatever is wrong with you can be cured by Zahi’s blood – and don’t try to tell me otherwise! Just...get better so you can fix things.” Nichkhun said with wavering voice. “Just...get better, please?” He asked as he got to his feet and pointed to the door. “I’ll be...I’ll be out there...” Nichkhun headed to the door. As he closed it behind him he sighed in relief. The energy in there was too much for him. He would have fainted if he didn’t leave then and there. Their desire and emotions were too high strung and it left a sweet, addictive taste in his mouth.

     “Nichkhun?”

Turning abruptly he found Sano walking towards him. “Y-yes..?”

“Come with me, I’ll show you to a room. I have some updates on Junho and Taecyeon.” Sano ushered him closer.

Nichkhun’s mind began to race with the memories from the other night. He only saw a small sample of how lethal this clan was. “I have to admit, I’m apprehensive about trusting anyone at the moment.”

Sano seemingly smiled, “yes, but I would listen to me if I were you. If you collapse, Wooyoung won’t be too happy with me and I’ll never hear the end of it.”

Nichkhun chuckled and finally consented. “Yeah...he has that rebellious attitude about him.”

“About your Taecyeon and Junho, we lost sight of them in the Old Wood, but I believe it is because of huge wards placed there by Wooyoung. They are most likely the safest-

“What about Chansung? Do you know anything about him?”

Sano shook his head. “We never saw him leave the mansion.”

*

“I was going to visit...” Zahi sighed as he removed his coat. Wooyoung’s eyes instantly trailed over his sparsely clad form. Zahi looked thinner than he remembered.

“I don’t think that would have gone over too well.” Wooyoung grumbled and rolled over. “Just put it in a cup and leave...”

“It’s either necks or an interesting place for you.”

Wooyoung covered his ears and curled up. “I don’t want you around me!”

“Yes you do, and I think that’s what scares you.” Zahi said confidently. “Now, we can finish what I started the other night, or I can just give you the blood and leave you to mope.”

Wooyoung let his hands drop. “Just...why did you leave me?” He asked softly.

“Why are you blaming me? You said you wanted to be on your own, Wooyoung. You didn’t want to live in someone else’s shadow anymore.” Zahi had remained stationary. Wooyoung would have preferred him just doing what he needed to and leaving. But...this was Zahi, he was not Helios. “Isn’t that what you wanted? Not just for you, but for your sanity and your preordained darklings?”

“Yes! It’s...it’s what I wanted.” He didn’t sound convincing at all.

“I couldn’t go with you, Wooyoung.”

Eyes falling shut, Wooyoung hugged himself. This hurt each and every time he heard it. “I know...but I...” Feeling himself being scooped up, he found himself facing that calm and collected face. Encompassed by that protective and soothing warmth he couldn’t help but return the embrace. “Can’t I just mope without you making me embarrassed?”

Zahi chuckled. “Your moping face is cute.”

Wooyoung could hear his heartbeat. It was consistent, no fluttering of nervousness. “I’ve always wondered...why did you wait?”

Zahi trailed his fingers through his hair. “I wasn’t strong enough at the time to beat both Wren and Helios.”

     “But you still saved me...”

“Drink, my pup, or we’ll both be consumed by madness...” Zahi teased.

“Don’t call me that...” He groaned. It honestly did things to him.

     “Wooyoung...”

That struck a cord in him. “No...just call me monster. No Wooyoung and no pup, just monster.”

Zahi was laughing again. “Do I make your heart race? No matter what I call you I know you’ll be affected by it.”

Wooyoung cussed the day he was made. Slowly he got up and straddled Zahi’s hips. “Why do I have to drink your blood and never the other way around?”

“Because I don’t have leech in my veins...” Zahi shrugged.

Wooyoung snarled a little bit. “Will it really all go away?”

     “You know it will...”

Wooyoung ran his fingers over his neck. Zahi’s arms encircled his waist bringing him closer. “Will you let me touch you?”

Zahi smirked, “if you’re good, maybe. Don’t you want updates on your little darklings, Wooyoung?”

“I know they’re safe.” Well, all except one.

“Is that why you slept so long?”

Wooyoung’s lips twitched with a smile. “After all these years, you still don’t know me.”

“Who you are at this moment – the Jang Wooyoung who has love – no, I don’t know.”

Wooyoung would have moved back if he were able. “I’m not...”

     “You are...”

“I can’t even understand the concept.” He tried to argue.

“You do, and I think you like it.”

Wooyoung tightened his grip on him. Zahi’s nails dragging down the skin of his back made him arch. “Well...we both know who taught me about it.”

“Just drink, Wooyoung. Quit stalling. I want to feel normal.”

“How do we know he didn’t plan for this? What if he wanted this to happen for some reason?” He asked and rested his hands on Zahi’s shoulders.

“Either way, he’s going to get something out of this, Wooyoung.”

“Stop saying my name!” He cried and hugged him close.

“Aw, did you miss me?” Zahi lay him back down. “Can’t you feel my heart racing now?”

Wooyoung could indeed. The smell of Zahi’s blood was overriding his senses, and not in a bad way.

     “Take it, Wooyoung.”

Without waiting another minute, he sunk his fangs into that thick neck. Hot blood rushed into his mouth. The thick cloud of pain and disillusion finally began to dissipate. Reason began flooding his mind, as well as memories, feelings, and power. Deeming himself satisfied, Wooyoung released him and the wounds until they healed. He felt so much better already. He would need a few more sessions like this, but he didn’t mind. As he leaned up, Zahi cupped his chin.

     “Now you’re looking like yourself.”

Wooyoung smiled. “I want it in a cup next time.” Surprised as Zahi rolled them over, Wooyoung couldn’t help but buck upwards. Wooyoung always felt so much smaller compared to him. Well, he was, but when his lips captured his, everything felt right and safe.

Zahi smiled against his skin, “well, if you feel that strongly about it, deal with this yourself, alright?” Zahi had pulled away and left.

     “Bastard...”

*

Junho piled the last of the gemstones into the bags they brought. Wiping the sweat from his brow, he came to stand finally. Taecyeon sealed up the bag and stuff it into his backpack. “That’s it?”

Junho nodded and smiled weakly, “yeah...”

Taecyeon took a seat and looked over the forest. Junho could tell that he was feeling the loss of Chansung. “I know he isn’t really gone...but...I’m scared, Junho.”

“I know...” Junho packed away his tools and sat beside him. “Wooyoung feels more stable now. He said there will be Luna clan members waiting for us to take us to the new hideout.”

“Has he..?” Taecyeon had turned to face him.

Junho shook his head. He sat himself beside the giant and hugged his legs close to his body. Now that Wooyoung was feeling more normal, he felt a sense of clarity and rejuvenation. “Hey...you remember when we saw the Ancient in the hallway?” He asked quietly.

Taecyeon turned to him. “Yeah...they were coming from the South Wing...”

Junho shook his head. “Whoever it was, they had different clothes than Harowen did.” He could remember the feelings he got from it, whatever it was. “Harowen’s aura is toxicity, poisonous. That-

     “It was cold...”

     Junho nodded.

“Something was in the mansion with us...”

     He nodded again.

     “Have you told Wooyoung yet?”

“I will when we get there. I just want to speak about these things and not have to worry about what’s going to happen to us...plus he’s been unconscious or moody the past couple hours.”

Taecyeon chuckled a little and stood. “Well, let’s get this bastard caught.” He held out his hand, which Junho took. “There was something off about Chansung...remember when we left him alone with Nichkhun?”

     Junho nodded.

“Nichkhun was of course unconscious, but that dagger was left in the room.”

“I never sensed anything off about it. But then again...I’ve never been able to analyse Hunter metal before...”

“Wooyoung...probably didn’t know how to handle the Hunter’s rising and telling us about them. I mean...they hunt immortals. He was trained by them, but I wonder if that was a good experience or not. His past just...after all he’s been through he’s...amazing – and we don’t even know everything.”

Junho nodded. He wondered if they would ever truly know. One day he hoped Wooyoung trusted them enough to tell him more about himself. “I want to know who Wooyoung was, what trials he faced...I wish he would tell us.”

Taecyeon hugged him close and rubbed his shoulder. “He will...”

*

Taecyeon could not have been happier when they finally made it to the new hideout. Seeing Wooyoung healthy and looking like his old self was a welcome blessing. He also finally got to meet the notorious second-in-command, Sano. He could understand why certain people were quite taken with him. He stood much taller than he did and had solemn yet bright eyes. “Nice to meet you, Ok Taecyeon, Lee Junho,” he greeted and indicated behind him. “Keep heading that way, you’ll find them.”

Junho ran past him and on towards Wooyoung. Taecyeon stopped abruptly and turned to an approaching aura. He knew who he was instantly. Amber eyes were locked on him. His blue and black uniform was similar to Sano’s. When he grinned, Taecyeon felt a sense of nostalgia. This was the person who taught Wooyoung to smile. When their hands connected a tingle flew up his arm.

“Nice to finally meet you, Taecyeon.”

It was a surreal experience for him. This person is where his Wolf blood came from, a part of what made him who he was as an immortal. It was like meeting a father all over again. “You must be Zahi?”

“Where’s that astounding mage? I have to commend him on his work.” Zahi boasted and took off in the direction of Wooyoung. Taecyeon couldn’t help but smile. Zahi also taught Wooyoung his absentmindedness. “Ah! This must be Junho. You’re quite the mage!” Zahi complimented.

Junho was blushing heavily. Taecyeon noticed a red-haired woman standing before Junho. “I-I had a very good teacher...” Junho said with that bashful smile.

“Maa, if only Wooyoung had brought you all visiting sooner. We wouldn’t be hounding you...” The lady said. She held out her hand. “Hello Ok Taecyeon. I am Marigold, leader of the Fortune Clan.” She came close to him. Her eyes seemed to swirl into a different colour. “When the time comes, you will have to make a hefty decision. You will have to decide if you wish to remain faithful, or fall into red hands.”

For some reason, her words terrified him. “Marigold, don’t scare the poor man after you just meet him.” Zahi scolded.

Taecyeon felt Junho’s fingers tighten around his wrist. “We...should probably attend to Wooyoung.” Junho apologised and they made their way to Wooyoung. He was talking with Changmin and Nichkhun. As soon as he saw them he grinned. Yes, he was back to top speed. Taecyeon nearly crashed to the floor with the force of his hug.

“I was so scared...” Taecyeon admitted. Never had he felt more relieved than to hold Wooyoung in his arms.

“We’re almost all here...” Junho added. “Here are the gemstones.” He cheered handing over the bag.

“Come, after the meeting with all the clans, there are some things that need to be said, and fixing these.”

A wave up anxiety flew through Taecyeon’s veins. They followed Wooyoung and the others to a large room. Two women sat inside. The doors burst open admitting Marigold within. She bounded over to them. “Wooyoung!” She snapped. Taecyeon watched helplessly as his master was under her mercy. She surprised them all by smiling. “Cutie...” She kissed his cheek and then turned to Junho without a second glance. “I really do hope you come to visit Junho, and you as well Taecyeon. I’m sure there are many things you could learn from me.” Wooyoung looked as though he was about to throttle her. Taecyeon looked at Nichkhun and Changmin, they both shrugged. “Oh! I have to tell you Wooyoung, this one has good destiny.” She was pointing at Junho, who shifted awkwardly towards Wooyoung.

“Marigold...must you always impose on someone’s personal space?” Sano sighed, his expression blank.

“No one asked you, Sano.” Marigold flounced to her chair.

“I really don’t know why you had to do that.” Wooyoung grumbled and motioned for them to sit.

“You never ever brought them to see me, so what am I supposed to do?” Marigold whined. “You make it seem like we can’t be trusted – newsflash, Jang Wooyoung, we are not the Council members. We’ve fought alongside you countless times!”

“I know. I’m sorry.” Wooyoung apologised. That seemed to please her.

“Well, looks like those who need to be here are,” Zahi announced his arrival. “I believe the next meeting’s location was sent out.”

“Yes...at my mansion.” Wooyoung answered. “Why? I have no idea. It wouldn’t be safe to have it there...”

“Do not host them Wooyoung. Although I know you like adventures, this one may be your undoing.” Zahi warned making Taecyeon feel nervous.

“See, you make me suspicious because you know about it.” Wooyoung shot back.

“Of course I know. I am still connected to him after all.”

The three leaders went silent. Taecyeon noticed Wooyoung’s jaw clench. He was either mad or upset. “After all this time?” He asked with restrained voice.

“The ritual I used to separate you and him could only be used once.” Zahi informed like it wasn’t important.

     Wooyoung stilled. “Zahi-

“I told you, Wooyoung. I care for you. You push me away, and I still give.” Zahi said with mirth in his eyes. “Honestly, there’s no pleasing you. I could probably ask your little darklings the same thing and they would tell me exactly what I experienced. Don’t forget who left.”

“Liar! You’re the-” Wooyoung had risen from his chair. This probably wasn’t the best place for this discussion. Taecyeon pulled Wooyoung back onto his lap, reminding him that they were present.

“I couldn’t give you what you needed, I know.”

Wooyoung shook his head and turned away.

“Do you know why, as Wooyoung’s darklings, some of you had such rough beginnings?” Zahi asked changing the subject.

Taecyeon looked back at Nichkhun who shook his head. They had always wondered, both he and Nichkhun went through extreme transformations after all. Not only that, but they were kept in confinement and had to go through a process to gain some semblance of ‘humanity’ and recognition of being civil beings from the Immortals Council.

“It is because you were created from a creation. Wooyoung is a monster, through and through. He has three different bloodlines coursing through his veins: vampire, mage, and werewolf.”

The room was shocked into silence.

     “Zahi...” Wooyoung warned.

“Amazing isn’t it? You’ve never seen the madness they create within him unleashed.” Zahi was staring at Wooyoung. “I’m amazed you didn’t kill them. Are you still that scared to let people be close to you, Wooyoung? Your persistence in avoiding me could have cost them their lives, and yours-”

“If this is going to turn out like the Council meeting I’m leaving.”

“Wooyoung...it’s because you’ve kept secrets that current events have unfolded the way they have.” Sano finally snapped, his eyes feral. “You could have lost all of your coven – in fact you might have! He could have killed you because you’re scared to talk about the past – facing it. You keep running away from him expecting him to just disappear-” Zahi attempted to stop his second-in-command, but Sano growled. “You’re putting us all at risk.”

“Sano, that isn’t all true. The circumstances surrounding the rise of the Hunters are different this time. No humans have been sacrificed, only vampires and other immortal beings.” Marigold said, her voice commanding and bold. Taecyeon felt Junho’s hand creep into his and tighten.

Taecyeon could feel it. Tumultuous feelings were rising within Wooyoung. Slowly he reached up and pressed his hand to Wooyoung’s back. Wooyoung allowed him to pull him back. “Calm down...” He whispered in his ear. “We need to find Chansung and stop whatever is happening...”

“It’s only convenient that this is happening now.” Marigold continued. “Both Zahi and Wooyoung were at their weakest. We’ve had suspicions about the Council for a while. Helios makes weird, random appearances before us, and, the Hunters themselves are different.” Taecyeon held onto Wooyoung tighter. “They are fusing immortals into their weapons!” Marigold slammed a dagger similar to what injured Nichkhun into the table. The red blade glistened. “We can’t be fighting and making petty squabbles over past events, gentlemen. We are at war! And I would like to see some damn cooperation!”

“Can...I ask a question?” Junho piped up.

     “Yes, Junho.”

“Do Ancients all wear the same dress...or do they have their own individual cloaks?” He wondered.

“They change every century to fit their decided dress code.” Sano answered.

“So...on the night we had the meeting at our mansion, Taecyeon and I were heading to the room when this figure walked past. It didn’t seem like they noticed us...but I knew it was an Ancient, I guess.” Wooyoung had turned slightly on Taecyeon’s lap. “But...when I saw Harowen in the meeting room, they weren’t wearing the same clothes – and they didn’t have the same aura either.”

“What colour was the cloak, Junho?” Wooyoung asked.

“It was like a purple...with silver ts.” Junho answered.

     Wooyoung groaned in irritation.

“What kind of aura?” Zahi asked.

“It was...cold. It was really cold...and when we tried to look at the person, it was like they were watching us.”

“So, Wooyoung, the underdog managed to break into your house.” Sano said. “Why didn’t you dispose of the weapon?”

Taecyeon’s brows furrowed. “I thought it was left in your office.”

“I collapsed remember?” Wooyoung reminded. “I really didn't want to be right. Junho took care of Nichkhun. Now I know why I was impacted by my bonds and everything so severely this time ‘round.”

“I didn’t know the types of Hunter weapons or their characteristics at that time...” Junho said guiltily. His expression seemed to be pained once more.

“Do not pass harsh judgment upon yourself, Junho.” Marigold assured. “They would have split from the dagger immediately anyway...”

     “Who was it?”

“Someone who is supposed to be dead...” Wooyoung muttered.

     Taecyeon’s hold on him tightened.

Zahi sighed, “Wooyoung’s ‘step-mother’, Helios’ mistress.”

Chapter 8: Intense chapter, I have to say. Many things start from this chap and it has to be continue for sure. The relationship between characters was showed more here. I understand them more. Ohhh... Their fellings toward one another are very complex but yet able to understand. Once again, I wanna know what's in your head. lol How can you contain much of complexity from each stories? You have talent on these things. Sincerely thanks for making my day and hope I can read the continuing soon. ^^
