Love on Ice

“Ugh!” Jiyong groaned as he landed on the ice.

Another failed attempt at a triple axel.

Standing on his wobbling legs Jiyong took a deep breath. He needed to do this or he was never going to be able to be considered for training with Mr. Morgan, the Olympian coach. Skating a few rounds around the rink he built up the needed velocity and attempted the jump once more.

He failed once more. Being so close to the banister he slid across the ice and hit the wall. Letting out a defeated wail he curled up and let the tears fall unto the ice his tears freezing when they landed.

He didn't know how long he lay on the ice until he felt a warm hand on him.

“Hey are okay? Are you hurt anywhere?” he felt the hand move from his arm to check his leg. Most injuries for figure skaters happened around their knees or ankles.

Jiyong sniffled and wiped his face with the sleeves of his sweater. “I...I'm fine.”

“Are you sure? If not I can get a trainer to come help you.”

Jiyong looked up and he paled considerably.

Choi Seunghyun was next to him.

The Olympic gold medalist figure skater, Choi Seunghyun.

“I...I...” Jiyong was at a loss for words and he could feel his face burning up with embarrassment.

Seunghyun's dark eyes widened when the color rose up Jiyong's face. “Hey, just wait here let me get someone to help” The older male rose up from the ice and quickly skated to the entrance of the rink and grabbed one of the emergency phones.

Jiyong watched as the lithe form skated back to where he was now sitting up. He was graceful, like a swan on a lake or an eagle soaring through the air.

“Don't worry someone's on their way” he said approaching Jiyong and then knelt. “What happened?”

Jiyong looked down his brown hair covering his eyes. “I fell” he murmured not looking at Seunghyun ashamed of being a failure in front of the Olympian. “What? Come on tell me” he said lifting Jiyong's head so he could look the younger in the eyes. His heart melted seeing the boy's eyes swimming in tears “I..I fell.”

Seunghyun realized what the boy was getting at and softly patted his arm.

The trainer on duty soon got to them and checked Jiyong for any injuries.

“You're fine, no injuries that I can assess but if you feel any pain anywhere later on I advise you see a doctor. Come on let's get you off the ice before you freeze” the man and Seunghyun helped Jiyong up and guided him off the ice. “Thanks hyung!” Seunghyun nodded and sat beside the younger as the other man left.

“Are you a beginner? Are you barely learning how to skate?” Seunghyun asked putting the covers on the blades of his skates so they won't dull. “No, I'm not a beginner. I was training, my coach had to leave early and he told me to continue practicing until I got the triple axel down” Jiyong spoke as he looked down at his hands. Seunghyun nodded “You know it's okay, right? The axel on it's own is hard to learn, no skater, no matter how talented, can do it after one day and much less without a coach to help you.”

Jiyong snorted and shook his head “But you always land them so beautifully and gracefully, like you never even left the ice to begin with.”

Seunghyun sighed shaking his head “What's your name?” “I..umm... Jiyong.. Kwon Jiyong” Jiyong stood and bowed to the other as he held out his hand shyly. Taking it Seunghyun smiled and stood as well, bowing he also introduced himself “I know you know who I am but I'm Choi Seunghyun.”

“Thank you for helping me” Jiyong said as he folded himself upright again. “It's no problem. Are you free to go get a coffee? I imagine you must be freezing from being on the ice so long” Seunghyun asked looking at Jiyong. “Yeah I can go with you, I didn't have anything else planned” Jiyong smiled at the older.

“Alright come on let's put our skates up and call it a day.”

Seunghyun led the way to the locker rooms where they split up so they could change and get their things.

~*~

Jiyong felt elated and renewed after having gone out for coffee with Seunghyun. The man was so nice and genuine that Jiyong was taken off guard. He had learned quite a lot from the other, he had also struggled to rise to the top. Like he had yesterday, Seunghyun had eaten his fair share of ice when he had been training.

He happily walked into the locker and changed into insulated sweats, sweater and pulled on his skates. He frowned slightly seeing the blades were beginning to dull, he reminded himself to have them sharpened.

Leaving the locker room he smiled seeing Seunghyun walking towards the locker.

“Hey Jiyong, have a good practice” Seunghyun patted his shoulder and sidestepped him going into the locker.

Jiyong couldn't help but grin and blush as he ducked and fled to the ice rink where his coach was most likely already waiting.

~*~

Jiyong was exhausted he was sweating furiously as he skated his tenth lap around the rink.

“Kwon do it now!”

Jiyong took in a deep breath and went for the leap to do to his three and a half rotations in the air before landing back on the ice and losing his footing and falling sideways on the ice.

“Argh! You're talentless! We're done for tonight I don't want to see your face until you have mastered the triple axel.

Jiyong sighed and just laid back on his back breathing deeply as the tears seeped through his closed eyelids. He heard the slicing motion of blades on the ice and ignored it, if whoever it was wanted to practice they'd have to do it with him there.

The person skated up next to him, “You know you have a lot of talent right? I was watching you for the last thirty minutes, you have excellent form. The only problem is you're not taking on off with the right foot, sufficient width so when you land you can sustain your balance and you land on the wrong side of the blade.”

“You're just saying that” Jiyong said thickly as he sat up and looked away from Seunghyun as he got to his feet. “I'll see you around.”

Seunghyun watched as the younger skated away sadly.

“Who's your coach Jiyong?”

“Oh... Darek Snyder he's been training me since the beginning.”

With that Seunghyun watched the younger leave with a heavy heart. Frowning Seunghyun started doing laps to filter his frustration doing triple toe loops, triple axels, scratch spins, sit spins, camel spins and all manner of skating tricks. Completely winded he decided that now he could be able to sleep.

Walking tiredly to the bus stop he couldn't help thinking about Jiyong. The younger man had so much talent on the ice but his coach was a totally douche. Getting unto the bus he sat down in one of the empty seats and was determined to do his research on this 'Darek Snyder.'

~*~

Seunghyun had spent the better half of three days researching Darek and was surprised that he once been a gold medalist himself on his last Olympian journey he had received an injury that had cost him his skating career. Seunghyun sympathized with the man but there was no excuse in taking out his frustration on his student. Especially when Jiyong showed great promise out on the ice, he had nearly perfect form in his spins and his other jumps were good, there was absolutely no way that the boy was talentless.

Seunghyun spent the entire three days also figuring out a way to cheer up the younger man who had invaded his life and he was not angry about it. As he went to skating arena he passed by one of the rinks and saw a couple practicing and he couldn't help but smile as the idea came to mind.

Grinning he went to the locker room, changing he headed to his practice rink to meet with his coach to discuss his next concept show for the preliminaries for the next Winter Olympics.

~*~

Jiyong languidly skated around the rink. His head felt overly crowded, sighing he shook his head and decided to go home and work on his school work.

Just before he moved to leave the rink he was joined by Seunghyun who was smiling brightly.

“Hi Seunghyun” Jiyong cautiously greeted looking around “What's with the cautious look?” Seunghyun asked teasingly as they both skated the perimeter of the rink. “Um..sorry” Jiyong mumbled hiding behind his hair “Oh don't do that!”

Seunghyun moved in front of Jiyong and held unto the boy's hands as he skated backwards guiding him around. Jiyong couldn't help but blush, he felt like he was in one of those cheesy movies where the couple would skate and then kiss in the middle of the ice.

“Jiyong?”

“Yeah?” Jiyong answered avoiding the others intense gaze, “Have you ever done couple skating?” Jiyong looked down and watched the path Seunghyun's skates “I did at first... but after they had paired me with this girl they decided against it. Apparently I wasn't the right height.”

“Do you want to try it?”

“But with who? All the girls I know either do solo figure skating or are already practicing with their partners” Jiyong fidgeted as he completely let the other guide him around the rink. “With me of course. I've trained for couple skating but never got to actually work with anyone” Seunghyun said enthusiastically as he stopped and moved beside Jiyong grabbing the younger man's hands as he moved.

Jiyong having had training followed Seunghyun's lead, he surprisingly enjoyed doing the spins and lifts with Seunghyun. It was the most fun he'd had on the ice since the pressure of being chosen to train for the Olympics loomed ahead of him.

Sweaty, tired but happy Jiyong stumbled off the ice.

“Thank you Seunghyun. I really appreciate you helping me out when you're supposed to be working on your next routine” Jiyong smiled sincerely at the other man.

“Don't thank me Jiyong. I did it because I wanted to, who knows maybe I can do a couple of routines this time around instead” Seunghyun chuckled as he sat beside Jiyong wrapping a towel around his neck as Jiyong did the same. “I wouldn't doubt it. You're good at everything that concerns skating. I'm even convinced you could play hockey” Jiyong chuckled as he turned his gaze to Seunghyun.

Seunghyun let out the most endearing laugh Jiyong had ever heard.

And that's when he noticed.

Seunghyun was incredibly handsome. He had the most gorgeous jawline he had seen on a man along with aristocratic high cheek bones accompanied by those intense dark eyes that were also looking at him. He was caught.

He could feel his entire body burn and even more so his face.

“Jiyong...” Seunghyun reached up and placed his cool hand on Jiyong's burning cheek. The younger man turned to look at Seunghyun who was tenderly looking at him “You are beautiful and most of all you are talented. I'll help you perfect that triple axel. I'll show you how to do it. And then I will train you myself.”

“Seunghyun” Jiyong whispered and he wrapped his arms around the other man burying his face into his chest.

Seunghyun smiled and held Jiyong burying his face into the boy's hair inhaling the icy scent along with Jiyong's natural scent.

~*~

Jiyong smiled widely as Seunghyun coached him on which foot and what side of the blade he was supposed to start the jump and then how he was to cross his feet before he was to land again with a good distributed balance.

“Okay go ahead and try it. If you fall it's completely okay. It takes good technique and practice to get it. Now go!” Seunghyun enthusiastically told Jiyong as he watched from the middle of the rink as the younger man skated around him, reaching the velocity he truly needed to do the jump.

Seunghyun watched carefully as Jiyong started the jump exactly how he told him and rotateed only two times before he landed. “YES! Good job Ji!” Seunghyun cheered “Although that was only two rotations and you landed a little low.”

Jiyong grinned widely he knew he had messed up but at least he had landed and didn't have to eat another face full of ice like in the times past.

“But you did so good otherwise” Seunghyun moved over the younger man and placed his hands on his shoulders “Come on let's call it a day. We'll go have a coffee I also have to study for my exams.” “Sure” Jiyong smiled up at him a blush covering his cheeks as Seunghyun stood raising his arms above his head stretching before looking down at Jiyong who was completely enthralled by the body in front of him covered in an Adidas track suit.

“I know I look stunning but come on I'm dying for a latte here” he teased bending down and putting his face in front of Jiyong making the other turn an interesting color of red. With a smirk Seunghyun cheekily placed a kiss on Jiyong's nose moving away quickly and walking to the doors.

Jiyong felt like he was a volcano about to erupt. Closing his eyes he placed his hands on his cheeks trying in vain to cool them down. Seunghyun... he thought as he touched his nose.

~*~

The snow was falling thickly now and Jiyong was the happiest that he could be. Seunghyun had kept his word and helped him perfect the triple axel in just within three weeks.

But what was now driving him nuts was...they were tip-toeing around each other. It wasn't bad but he just sometimes felt the need to grab Seunghyun and kiss him. He had spoken to his older sister, who was an excellent volleyball player, on whether he should do it. She had told him that he was being an idiot and that she would have had her way with Seunghyun a long time ago. So what he got out of that was to just kiss him.

As he walked along the snow covered sidewalk he tried to build up the courage to at least give Seunghyun a soft kiss on the cheek. He stopped at the corner waiting on his bus when he noticed a bright red and green flier announcing that the pond was now opened to skating. There was his idea, and that was what he was going to do he was going to invite Seunghyun to come skating, in the open, outside, away from their obligation of being ice skaters.

Climbing unto the bus he sighed in relief at how warm it was inside. Seeing every seat taken he grabbed unto the overhead and bar and held on, trying to avoid hitting someone with his heavy gym bag.

The bus made another stop picking up more shivering passengers before he got off a block away from the ice arena. Walking fast he walked inside the building in relief at the momentary warmth.

“Glad you could make it” Seunghyun said as he approached from the side also carrying his gear. “Want to try something a little different?” “Different?” Jiyong asked as they entered the locker room. “Yeah I want to see if we're able to it” Seunghyun nodded as he changed into thick sweats and sweater before grabbing his skates and putting them on.

Jiyong side-eyed Seunghyun as he himself put on his skates “Are you ever going to tell me?”

“I'll tell you when we're out on the ice and we do twenty laps around the rink.”

Jiyong pouted at being led along like a puppy going after the chew toy. Giving in he walked out of the room following Seunghyun.

Doing their twenty lap warm up Jiyong moved to the middle and crossed his arms “So... are you going to tell me?” Seunghyun who had been leisurely moving around grinned and moved to join Jiyong in the middle.

“Let's try a couple triple axel.”

Jiyong blinked. “The couple triple axel?”

“Yeah we both do it at the same time. Come on Jiyong I know you know what I'm talking about” Seunghyun lightly tapped Jiyong's forehead.

Nodding Jiyong smiled at Seunghyun and let the lead him through a made up routine including a couple of spins in lifts to get them used skating with a partner. Moving the grace of two swans they both jumped in the air.

To any onlooker it was like watching in slow motion how in sync the two were their rotations were even in sync and when they landed their left legs extended swinging them around where they grabbed hands again. Where they finished the routine with a cheesy dance move.

Jiyong was breathing hard as Seunghyun held him in a dancer's pose their faces close. It was this moment Jiyong thought, this was his chance. With a slow movement he raised his hand caressing Seunghyun's cheek as he moved his head his eyes looking into the other's dark eyes. Jiyong could see Seunghyun's eyes had widened before his eyes became lidded and he moved to meet Jiyong halfway.

Jiyong could feel his toes curling in anticipation and then the spell was broken.

Clapping.

Someone was clapping.

Lamenting Jiyong moved away from Seunghyun and looked at who it was. He paled slightly seeing his coach.

“Well, well I see that you are power hungry Kwon. Having me as coach wasn't enough now you have to ensnare our gold medalist as well” the man sneered.

Jiyong looked away from both men. Seunghyun had told him to not listen to such let downs but those words really hurt him.

“Jiyong don't listen to that old fool. A man that bitter doesn't know anything about loving our sport, like you” Seunghyun spoke loudly glaring over at the man who was watching. Jiyong looked at Seunghyun through tear filled eyes and saw the man was genuinely smiling at him.

“Come on Jiyong I think we're done for tonight” Seunghyun moved and wrapped an arm around Jiyong's shoulders and guided him to the gates where Mr. Snyder was conveniently standing. “We have practice still. You may go Mr. Choi. Kwon still needs to practice” the coach said with crossed arms.

Seunghyun held his tongue, he wish he could tell where the coach could go but this was Jiyong's battle.

“Mr. Snyder I no longer need your services. I'll find another coach on my own” Jiyong said from behind Seunghyun.

Seunghyun smiled, he loved hearing Jiyong sound so confident he was inwardly wanting to grab him and kiss him right where they stood.

“You wont be going anywhere without me you ungrateful little punk!”

The two ignored the older man as he raged at the side of the rink.

Finally in the locker room Jiyong reached out and wrapped his fingers around Seunghyun's wrist.

“Thank you.”

“Why are you thanking me Ji?”

“For giving me courage.”

Seunghyun turned around and raised his free hand to Jiyong's face “I didn't give you the courage Ji. You already had it. I just coaxed it out but you did that out there.”

Jiyong pressed his cheek further into Seunghyun's palm as he interlocked their fingers from their other hand. “I.. Crystal Pond is now open to skaters. I wanted to see if you wanted to come with me?”

Seunghyun grinned his dimples becoming prominent before he placed his forehead to Jiyong's.

“Are you asking me out on a date?”

“Maybe?”

“If it's not a date then I'm not going.”

“Yes.” Jiyong said quickly as he grabbed unto Seunghyun's face holding still “It is a date.”

“What time?”

“Seven thirty?

“Sounds great. Want to eat before that? I know this great burger joint down the street from where I live.”

“Sounds awesome what time should I head out that way then?”

“Six that way we can take our time.”

“Then it's a date” Jiyong grinned as his eyes sparkled with happiness.

~*~

Like promised the two met up to eat before they headed out to the pond their skates hanging off their shoulders. Getting there they were happy to see that there was hardly anyone there. Walking up the booth they paid their fee and got their ticket declining the need for skates. Putting on theirs they quickly got on the ice.

Seunghyun reached out and grabbed Jiyong's gloved hand. Jiyong looked over at Seunghyun and smiled as they skated to the soft tune coming from the speakers all around the pond. Jiyong felt warmth fill him when Seunghyun pulled him close and wrapped his arms around him as they leisurely moved around on the ice, truly content gliding across the hard surface.

The two unknowingly started skating their routine only without the fancy jumps and spins. The music didn't match but that didn't matter to them as long as their was a beat to move to. When the ending it was once again that dance pose in the middle, Jiyong's arm flung out above his head while his other was wrapped around Seunghyun.

Seunghyun securely held the other so he wouldn't fall his hands going up and down Jiyong's sides and back his fingers tickling the skin.

Jiyong felt it again and this time he was sure no one would get in the way. He would ignore them if they tried.

Locking eyes with Seunghyun smiled as he placed his hand on Seunghyun's cheek.

“I've been wanting to do this for a long time now” he whispered moving closer to Seunghyun. He watched as Seunghyun's eyes once again dropped to his lips before he met him halfway.

The world stopped.

And then it spun and shimmered around them.

“You have no idea” Seunghyun murmured against Jiyong's lips and he kissed him again.

Jiyong moved so he was in such an awkward position and wrapped his arms around him.

“I... I really like you Seunghyun” Jiyong admitted as they pulled away from their kiss “Like, like you like you.” Chuckling Seunghyun hugged Jiyong “Me too Ji. Ever since that day I first saw you.”

Burying himself deeper Jiyong felt his heart hammering inside his chest.

“Does that mean you'll be my boyfriend?”

“I don't know what do you think?”

With a laugh Jiyong hit Seunghyun before turning his head so he could look at Seunghyun directly. “You better be my boyfriend” he deadpanned as he leaned forward once again drawing Seunghyun into another kiss.

Seunghyun saw no need to say anything more and just let his instincts take over as the two stood in the middle of the frozen pond pouring what was in their heart to each other through the push and pull of their lips.

~*~

“Gold goes to Jiyong Kwon of South Korea!”

The man stood on the highest podium and gracefully accepted the gold medal and bouquet of flowers.

Dispersing after the South Korean national anthem played Jiyong ran to his coach the widest smile on his face.

Jumping into the man's arms he hugged him and drew him into a deep kiss. Pulling back he smiled feeling the soft finger's caressing his face.

“You were wonderful Jiyong.”

“I couldn't have done it without you.”

Chuckling the man drew him into another deep kiss his tongue meeting Jiyong's. Pulling away Jiyong stared into the dark and intense eyes looking at him.

“Seunghyun, I want to go home and just be with you.”

“Me too baby, let's go.”

~*~

Once safely ensconced in their home the two let their passion flair.

Lips found lips. Clothing was dispersed along their journey to their bedroom. Lips finally met uncovered skin driving their passion even higher.

Soft whispers of want and need were exchanged along with tender touches and kisses as they became one together. Their dance was something that was uniquely theirs.

“Seunghyun...I'm...I'm coming” Jiyong panted and then arched his back he was engulfed in absolute pleasure. “Jiyong you're beautiful” Seunghyun gasped as he followed Jiyong into absolute pleasure.

Cuddling Jiyong moved to pull their blankets over them.

“I love you. I'm so glad that I at learning the triple axel.”

Seunghyun chuckled softly as he ran his finger's through Jiyong's hair.

“Baby you're adorable. I'll confess that I think I loved you since then but it doesn't matter. What matters is that I love you now and always will.”

Jiyong wrapped his arms around Seunghyun and laid his head on the other's chest listening to the steady heartbeat. As he drifted into sleep he smiled when the memory of their first kiss on the ice of the pond came to the forefront before he truly fell asleep.

Chapter 1: I really, really needed this <3 Thank you for this gorgeous fluffy masterpiece. I only wish there was more. But it is perfect the way it is now. I'm just being greedy lol.

I love that Tabi was the graceful, gold-medalist ice skater and not Ji. I'm trying to picture our Tabi~who when he dances is all awkward limbs and goofy dancing~ skating around on the ice like a delicate swan and omg it is the greatest mental image ever. I seriously love you for putting him in this role of the trained professional giving a helping and guiding hand to the young, aspiring ice skater. It's just... beautiful. No other words.
Other favourite things include-- Jiyong being totally adorable and totally irresistible every time he blushed, Hyun skating backwards in front of him, the two of them going to get coffee (although in my head Hyun ordered Ji a hot chocolate with extra marshmallows instead), Seunghyun wearing that Adidas tracksuit *_* and when he cheekily kissed Ji on the nose *swooooons* And their back and forth when Ji asked him out on the 'date' that was so perf <3

Totally subscribing so that I can forever relive this wintery fluffy perfection whenever I need a pick me up ♥
