Chapter 1: As a WonKyu writer who recently wrote a fic with top!kyu, first the reason I didn't mention it is because sometimes we -writers- want some things to come as a surprise for our readers.
Second, there's like a whole paragraph before the act, which gives you notice about who will top and so you are free to stop reading it.
Finally, I just wanted to point out that the reason we're shipping WonKyu is based on the 'couple', not because Kyu bottoms because in that case there are a lot of pairs with Top!someone and Bottom!Kyu. So not shipping Kyumin and shipping wonkyu shouldn't be based on who's the bottom.
Well, with that said, I respect your opinion and as for the top!kyu trending, it's only a phase because I'm sure, and I thing almost everyone agrees with me on this, top!won makes more sense. Why we write top!Kyu then? Well, once in a while won't hurt because we like to spice things up a little bit from time to time.
Chapter 1: I actually agree with the comments below, it's more annoying to see stories tagged as Wonkyu when they don't even get close to being the main pair..and yes I understand your point, it's quite rare to see a top!kyu in wonkyu stories but if I may suggest, since authors may not be really particular with the tagging, if you're in the middle of the story and you start to realize it's going to end up that way you can just stop reading..there will always be hints before it gets to that actual part of the story..I prefer bottom!kyu in pairings too but I can get through the top!kyu ones..
Im revising what I wrote earlier because upon rereading it, it sounded really critical and harsh to the writers which should not be the case.
To get to the point, I just want writers to put /proper/ summaries in their stories or warnings and have their own plots, not be influenced by what others are writing or just write what the readers say. Because sometimes, fics of the same theme keep popping up like top!kyu or really, really pointless angst. ;_;
And I apologize to the writers because i'm also just a reader and i'm hoping this doesn't put you off from writing.

okay I get your point. though you failed to tell us whether you stopped or continued reading after realizing that the fic is about Kyuhyun topping. those were quiet good fics you know and I certainly want to congratulate each and everyone of those authors who went and gave the WonKyu lovemaking a twist.
I'm a nobody too compared to all the other more popular authors, I bet you don't even know me. that aside, since you braved writing an open letter to all the WonKyu writers may I also suggest that you also write another open letter and tag it with the other Kyuhyun and Siwon pairings and tell those other authors not to tag their stories with WonKyu or KyuWon anymore if Siwon's or Kyuhyun's pairing will just be part of the background or WonKyu won't really end up with each other. could you please do that?
you see, besides writing (yes, I do also write WonKyu, thank you very much) I enjoy reading as well, and my greatest joy in coming in aff is finding fresh updates from my favorite WonKyu authors and great new stories from budding writers. I try opening all those fics (in english) with WonKyu tags though it is also tagged with other Siwon or Kyuhyun pairings. what pisses me off is when I'm already in the middle (one-shots) of the story and Siwon and Kyuhyun are still to have their moments and all I see in the end is one is lusting after the other in a one-sided love affair. I hope you also get where I'm going to with this. please just also tell them not to put Kyuhyun and Siwon's name together if there won't be any romantic situation between them in the story so it won't appear in the WonKyu tag anymore. its childish and pointless and only earns the ire of the WonKyu purists (solid WonKyu stans).
p.s.
it was pretty rare to suddenly have several top!Kyu fics all at once so please do forgive those authors though all they did was make their fic more interesting.
