My ex is in town and coming onto me….SAVE ME

Of all the bars in town…of all the bars…THIS IS THE ONE that my ex decides to show up at. Just my luck. Whatever, Jessica. If you just ignore him, maybe he won’t see you.

Turning my attention back to the main bar, I see all sorts of people. There’s the group I came with, of course, my best friends who are already far too wasted. They’re dancing with another group of girls and of course there’s a bunch of guys watching them. I can also see a group of kids huddled in a corner, obviously too young to be here. Then there’s the people who picked this place as a date night.

While I’m looking around, my vision is suddenly obscured as the one person I didn’t want to see stood in front of me.

“Hey, Jessica” he smiled at me, trying to be seductive.

“Hi, Taecyeon. Didn’t expect to see you here.” I said, sipping my drink.

“No, I don’t suppose you would, but I’m really glad I saw you.” He winked. I slightly grimaced. Ugh why did I ever date this tool.

“Look, Taecyeon, we were together for a while and then it was you who decided to cheat, so I don’t know why you’re even in front of me right now.”

“Aw c’mon baby, you don’t mean that. And I said I was sorry. She didn’t mean anything to me.” I rolled my eyes.

“Actually, I very much do mean that.” I saw him lean into me and I pushed him back.

“And I would appreciate it if you would stay out of my space.” I added.

“You know you miss all of this.” He gestured to himself and I couldn’t help but roll my eyes again.

“Look, Taec…The simple fact is, I don’t want to be with you anymore. Nothing you say or do can change that. I’m happy now. So, go. Go find someone else to because it sure as hell won’t be me.” I said. He didn’t budge. Just tried to pull more moves. Leaning so close, I was very obviously uncomfortable. Or at least I hoped it was obvious, as I tried to lean away.

“No one in this bar holds a candle to you, Jessica. Just one more good night, Jess, c’mon” As he reached for my hand, we both heard a voice cough.

“I’m sorry, sir, I believe the lady said no.” We both looked and I saw the most gorgeous girl. Tall, pretty tan, and legs for days.

“Sorry, who the hell are you?” Taecyeon asked.

“Name’s Sooyoung, and I believe you were reaching for my girlfriend? Please, don’t.” She said, moving to stand next to me, wrapping an arm around my shoulder for added effect. I instinctively wrapped my own arms around her waist.

“Girlfriend? No way. Jessica can’t be dating you.”

“Oh I think Jessica is perfectly capable of dating whomever she wants.” Scoffing, Taecyeon tried to fight back.

“She’s never mentioned you.” Chuckling, Sooyoung holds firm.

“Considering you broke up, I doubt that you’d know much about Jessica’s personal life, unless you were stalking her?” Sooyoung challenged.

“No…it’s just…”

“I’m gonna cut you off right there, pretty boy. Simply, because I don’t care what excuse you have. This gorgeous woman right here is my girlfriend. Not yours. So I really recommend you keep your paws to yourself. Or you’ll regret it.” Sooyoung said. Taecyeon looked like he yielded for a moment until he came back smirking.

“Prove it.” My eyebrows shot up, but I saw no change in Sooyoung’s face.

“Pardon?” She responded.

“Prove. It. If you’re together, I’m sure you have no problems kissing?” Taecyeon said.

“We don’t need to prove anything to you, you ert.” I finally chimed in. I felt Sooyoung take my hand, reassuringly.

“It’s simple, really. If you want me to leave, just prove it. And I’ll leave you and your girlfriend alone.” Taecyeon said.

“Swear it?” Sooyoung asked.

“Swear it.” He answered. Seeing it as the best option at the moment, I squeezed Sooyoung’s hand.

She turned to look at me, the silent question of permission in her eyes and I gave a slight nod.

She faced me fully, cupping my cheek gently. I my lips in anticipation as she leant in, when our lips met, it was a sensation unlike any other. I was quickly lost in it as my heart felt as if it were leaping out of my chest. I wrapped my arms around her neck, pulling her closer and she complied, deepening our kiss.

By the time we pulled away, I saw that Taecyeon had not left. Instead, he looked absolutely pissed. I saw his fist, but before a warning could leave my mouth, he had swung. The surprising thing was, the hit didn’t connect. Sooyoung held his fist arm’s length away before moving quickly and fluidly when suddenly Taecyeon was on the floor. She held his arm, pushing the wrist back minimally, but it was enough to make him writhe in uncomfortable pain.

“Listen to me carefully, first off, you broke a deal. It’s an absolute shame that you have no honor at all.” She pushed slightly and he twisted trying to get out of the uncomfortable position, but she had him pinned.

“Secondly, never EVER swing at a woman. Even if she makes you feel…inadequate.” I couldn’t help but smirk at that. I also noticed we gathered a small crowd, my friends being amongst them, a look of shock and amusement displayed across their faces.

“Third, if you ever disrespect my relationship with that amazing woman over there, I will break your arm. And believe me, in this position, I very much can.” The crowd dispersed a bit as security came by.

“What seems to be the problem here.” Sooyoung picked Taecyeon up off the floor, still manipulating his arm so he couldn’t run.

“This psycho just attacked me out of nowhere!” Taecyeon exclaimed.

“That is so not true! He was harassing me and my girlfriend stepped in to save me.” I defended, ignoring the looks I was getting from my friends. The security guard did not look phased, though he did look at Sooyoung briefly.

“He was harassing my girlfriend after she blatantly refused multiple times. Then he swung at me and I merely disabled him from hitting either of us.” Sooyoung said calmly. The security guard nodded in understanding.

“We will take it from here.” Two guards roughly grabbed him and led him out.

“Thanks Eunhyuk.” I heard Sooyoung say.

“Anytime, boss. Have a good night with your lady.” He winked at her before walking off.

“Boss?” I asked. She faced me and blushed.

“Yeah…This is kinda my bar. I’m not usually in the main area, but I’m also glad that I was.”

“I’m glad you were too. I don’t know how I can repay you for all you did.”

“Not to take advantage of a situation, but would you like to go on a date sometime?” Sooyoung asked. I couldn’t stop the smile that emerged on my face.

“I would love to.” I kissed her again and only pulled away when I heard whistles. I looked and saw my friends walking over, smirks on their faces.

“Jessi, Jessi, Jessi…how could you not tell us you had a new girl?” Tiffany asked.

“Guys, this is Sooyoung, she’s not actually my girlfriend. She just stepped in to stop Taecyeon.”

“But, that is a fact I’m looking to change at some point” Sooyoung said, making me blush.

“That was some sick maneuvers. I’ve never seen anything so slick.” Yuri said.

“It’s called Aikido. It’s a Japanese art I learned as a child. Basically it’s fighting without fighting. I never took a swing at him.” My friends nodded and we talked more before they went back to the dance floor. I turned to Sooyoung, a smile on my face.

“You have to teach me that Aikido stuff sometime too. It was hot.” I insisted, pulling her closer so we were just a breath away from each other.

“Oh, I can teach you that and so much more” She said, closing the distance. All I could feel was passion and excitement for what was coming.

Fun fact: I took an Aikido class my first semester of college. The move Sooyoung used in my head was yykyo. A basic maneuver used and learned at a beginner level.
