“Honey, do you need me to accompany you?” A middle-aged women asked her lovely daughter
“it’s ok mom, besides Sooyoung and Yoona is here with me”
“yes Mrs. Seo, don’t worry we'll take care of our baby girl” Sooyoung replied jokingly. Nudged Seohyun teasingly when she saw all the people especially the boys around them are focusing their eyes toward the new girl, Seohyun.
“Fine then, enjoy your day” Seohyun's mom smiled, and kissed her daughter’s forehead before tells the driver to go
“Really? a kissed in forehead, and your mom take you to school? Is this kindergarten, Seohyun?” Once again Sooyoung make fun of her
“My mom will not let me drive because she says that's what drivers are for. And about the kiss? Let's just say it didn’t happened” she blushed
Seohyun, glancing the school building in front of her with strange eyes, the same school which her bestfriend Yoona, Sooyoung and her other old friends go to, also the same school which the boy she share-a-common-secret with go to.
“wait, wait!! Is that Joohyun?” one of the girls whispered
“Joo ... who?” the girl beside her hissed
“Joohyun, Seo Joohyun. She is our high school schoolmate, remember? one of the girl in Kyuhyun’s popular group of friends, the one who’s always with Yoona and Sooyoung”
“Oh … Did you mean Seohyun? Doesn’t she leaves for boarding school? Why is she here?”
“Jessica said Seohyun was coming back today. Poor Yoona she's really shine when Seohyun doesn’t here, but now after Seohyun's back, who knows” she smirked
“Seohyun seems have to try to hold herself back so she don’t outshine Yoona. If it happens it will be a difficult year for the two of them” she added whispering but loud enough to be heard by the girls
“but it will be an exciting year for us” another girl sniggered back
“I thought college would be different from high school” Seohyun said, sighting
“Don’t worry sweetie, things are just starting to get good” Sooyoung comforting her two bestfriend when she saw her besfriends’ sudden gloomy face
“By the way, what major did you take Seo?” Sooyoung tried to broke the awkwardness between them
“... law” it takes a few seconds for Seohyun to answer
“law?” Yoona spoke more like a question
“Yeah, why?”
“Nothing” and the awkwardness accompany them along the way to class
“Here we are. This is our class, come here if you need us” Yoona said
“bay the way, do you know where your class Seo? Because I don’t think we can take you there. Today is Mrs. Baek’s class, I don’t wanna be late and take the risk” Sooyoung said jokingly, winching her face imagining if they’re really late for class. Last semester she was late by only 5 minutes and she was punished with a day in isolation and a seriously difficult essay assignment. And she could not imagine if it really happen to her again.
“it’s okay, I know where my class is, I can go by myself” she replied “thanks guys” she bid goodbye
“Enjoy your new day in new class with new friends Seo” Sooyoung shouted encouragingly
“Hwaiting!”
“Wait, did she said law department?” Sooyoung asked Yoona who only focus to her writing
“It means she’ll be Kyuhyun’s classmate, what a relief” she added
“By the way, why don’t you go to school with Kyuhyun today? Is he late again?”
“Like always” Yoona replied simply

“Welcome back, students” Mrs. Han the law lecturer said, standing behind the podium at the front of the class. “I hope you all had a terrific long weekend. I spent the weekend in Jeju island, and it was absolutely heavenly” she laugh, being the only one who spoke, her voice is loud throughout the room
“Vacation has ended and now If you would please open up your book to page forty-three” Mrs. Han instructed
She began to explain the lessons to the students who look seriously serious without let out a slightest sound. Swear to God, who would dare to do it when Mrs. Han class is still go on? She is well known as a ‘killer’, SNU is famous for its killer lecturers anyway.
Mrs. Han voice floated to the corridor where Seohyun was just turning the corner, cursing herself for being late in her first day.
“Ugh ... Pabo, I have really no idea where my classroom is, I should’ve asked Yoona and Sooyoung earlier, instead of said that I know where my class is” once again she cursing herself. During this past 30 minutes she's just walking around, back and forth looking for her classroom like a little girl who can't find her way back home. Luckily there’s a girl who kindly told her. And there she is in front of the class, gathering her courage to open the door. She was about to open the door when someone call her name breathily
“Seohyun ...” without having seen the face of the owner of the voice, she already knew who it was
“Kyuhyun?” She gasp for air, what she least expect is right in front of her. for sure she didn’t expect to meet Kyuhyun today, she's not ready, yet. He was out of breath and his hair was windblown. His cheeks were rosy and his eyes were bright from running the stairs from 1st floor to the 4th floor.
“what are you doing here?” Kyuhyun asked still trying to normalize his breath. No doubt, he's also jump in shocked when he saw Seohyun from afar
“it’s my class” she replied
“your class?” he raise an eyebrow
“Yeah, I go to SNU, law department starting today”
“Then what are you doing here? You should have to go to class 30 minutes ago” Kyuhyun told
“Blame me for not knowing where my classroom is” she rolled her eyes and chuckled with her own words
“Is that so” Kyuhyun said. A moment later he pushed the heavy door of the class and stood in front of it
“Tsk ... tsk ... what time is it Mr. Cho?” Mrs. Han greet him sarcastically, hands on hips
“sorry” He scratched his hair, feel embarrassed being late for the nth time. He looked backwards, Seohyun is seen standing in the doorway, still hasn’t get into the scene
“come in” he mouthed. Without knowing and realized anything Seohyun slowly entered the room and no wonder all eyes are on her
“and who are you Ms…?”
“Seohyun, Seo Joohyun” she answered
“Oh ... Seo Joohyun, you are the new transfer student from New York, aren’t you?”
“Yes mam. And sorry I'm late, I got lost”
“Well, since this is your first day, I forgive you for being late, but next time, I won’t tolerate” Mrs. Han said
“so students, I'd like you all to welcome our new friend, Ms. Seo Joohyun, she’s the new student from NYC, please be kind to her” she added
“why don't you find a seat, Seohyun?” she instructed
“Thank you”
“and you Mr. Cho, meet me after the class”
“Yes mam”
Seohyun walked lightly in the center of the class and sat down in an empty chair next to a red-haired girl. As always Seohyun get the attention of the whole class right away she entered the classroom, even during the class, the boys couldn't take their eyes off her. she is too fabulous to be missed. She was absolutely the coolest girl in the entire world. Definitely cooler than any of the other girl. That's what the boys think. But the girl's eyes only leads to the corner, where Kyuhyun is sitting quietly, spacing out, not interested at all with the lessons. And everytime their eyes met she turned her face right away, avoiding eye contact with him. But by itself, her eyes would go back glancing to the corner and locked into Kyuhyun. And finally she realized, she was not just in the same school with the boy who share-a-common-secret with her, but also the same class, the same room, and now he sits only a few feet away.
“okay, see you next week” Mrs. Han ended the class
“and Mr. Cho to my office right now” she reminds Kyuhyun before leave the classroom
Seohyun glanced into the corner for the last time before tidying her things ready to go home and the next thing she knew Kyuhyun is already standing beside her, watching every move she made
“Gosh ... can you stop makes me dying in shock?” Seohyun said half shouted, putting her hand on her chest
“Sorry” snort of laughter heard “so ... how was your first day” he sit in front Seohyun
“So far quite good” she replied still occupy her attention to the books on the table “but to accept the fact that I am in the same class with you, I don’t think so” she added
“so what?”
“I thought you were going to go to the music department after graduating from high school”
“I am”
“Then why are you here” Seohyun asked wonderment
“I can’t get rid of my father’s interference from my life, that's why I'm here” he replied resignedly. Poor Kyuhyun, he may get everything he want; money, cars, fantastic clothes and a luxe life. But he is always on the verge of saying how he really felt, he didn’t want to make a scene or say something he might regret later. Instead, he kept quiet and let his parent steer the boat, while he laid back and enjoyed the steady rocking of the waves. He might look like a stud, but he was actually pretty weak
“Hmm ... is that so?” She said, getting out of her chair “see ya ...” and leaving Kyuhyun alone in the classroom, it was obvious that she was trying to –again avoid him
“hey hey… wait! Where are you going?” Kyuhyun catch her up
“go home, of course”
“I was kind of wondering if you maybe wanna go out with me?” Kyuhyun asked hesitantly
“I’d love to, but I don't think Yoona will love it too. besides don't you have a date with Mrs. Han today?” she replied curtly “see you tomorrow” and she bid goodbye, walking in a rush

“Seohyun-ah, hey” the bubbling Sooyoung with Yonna next to her calling her
“hey guys”
“how was your class?” Yoona asked
“good” she bit her bottom lips the way she always did everytime she lie and hide something “by the way, why don’t you told me that Kyuhyun is in the same major with me?” she pouted
“I was going to told you, but you already on your way. Why? Isn’t that a good thing? You and Kyuhyun in the same class so you don’t have to bother looking for a new friend who just will stick with you just because you’re the popular girl, they’re just gonna make you go insane” Sooyoung said sniggered
“ah yeah…” she said simply as if she doesn’t have a choice
“What's your plan today Seo? Are you going to steal someones boyfriend’s heart again like you usually did during high school?” Sooyoung said jokingly. Everybody know, besides being a popular girl she’s also the heartthrob during high school, and by the way the boys locked their eyes on her right now, we can tell that she still is
“Actually, I would like to invite you to have lunch with me today, it's been a long time since we hang out together”
“I’d love to, I really do, but I can’t. Changmin asked me to go out today” Sooyoung replied feel sorry. She also want to go out with her friends so badly, but what can make, her over-protective boyfriend kept texting her to go
“what about you Yong?”
“I–actually I've got an appointment with Jessica, she said there is a new store in Chongdamdong, she asked me to go with her”
“I thought you had refuse her” Sooyoung said
“Nah ... I changed my mind, I have to buy new clothes. I mean, look at this Burberry plaid coat and this Scuffed brown suede boots, it’s so outdated, isn’t it? It’s like, I pick up the clothes at a homeless shelter on the way here” Yoona laugh by her own silly words “you–you can come with us if you want”
“no thanks, I better go home. Maybe next time?”
“yes, of course. Pinkie promise” Sooyoung said, ensuring that next time she would spend time with her.
By doing so, Seohyun end up walking on her own. She now looking a little lost, spacing out and just let her feet stepped where it wants. And the next thing she knew she was at a crossroads, between the city park and a coffee shop, their usual stoop during high school. They had been doing the same thing every morning for years for coffee or just simply chitchat before school started. And she expected they’re still doing the same routine right now. But looks like, the people have their own activities so that she ended up drinking coffee all alone.
