Waiting

 

“What do you want?” Yoon Jung mumbled.

 

“Is that a way to talk to your mother?” the lady calmly asked.

 

Yoon Jung glared at her mother and repeated her words, “What do you want?”

 

Mrs. Jung searched her daughter’s face. Her eyes were puffy and had dark circles 

 

under them. She had chapped lips and her hair was a mess. What happened to her 

 

beautiful daughter? Yoon Jung blankly stared at her mother. What happened to her 

 

cheerful, sweet personality?

 

She sighed, “Your sister came home after six months just for you.”

 

“What do you want me to do about it?”

 

Yoon Jung’s mother stared incredulously at her. “Jung Yoon Jung!” She said firmly.

 

Yoon Jung ignored her mother and stared out the window. *Still no sun...*

 

“What am I going to do with you?” Mrs. Jung heaved another sigh. Her eyes 

 

softened as she followed Yoon Jung’s eyes. They were on a picture of him.

 

 

“Have you tried contacting him?” She asked even though she already knew the 

 

answer.

 

“Mother, if you have nothing important to say then please leave,” Yoon Jung coldly 

 

stated.

 

“I’m leaving, I’m leaving! I just came in to tell you dinner will be ready soon,” she

 

continued, “And don’t forget that your school is starting up again.” With that Mrs. 

 

Jung left.

 

Yoon Jung picked up the picture she had been eyeing all this time. She sadly smiled 

 

at the picture. School was the last thing on her mind. The question her mother asked 

 

had been ringing in her mind.

 

“Have you tried contacting him?”

 

“Yes...” Yoon Jung murmured as she held the picture close to her chest. She had

 

emailed him countless of times but he never replied. The same with texting. When 

 

she tried calling a pre-recorded voice always answered. What was she to do? Yoon 

 

Jung had already given up...she had already given up on contacting him. All she 

 

could do now was wait.

 

Yoon Jung got up and walked to her closet. She picked out a pair of black jeans and 

 

a grey sweatshirt and threw them on her bed. She entered her bathroom and started

 

undressing herself. She stopped short when she saw her reflection on the mirror.

 

Yoon Jung started laughing at herself. She was such a mess without him. She 

 

couldn’t even take care of herself. Soon tears streamed down her face and she 

 

started to cry.

 

Forty minutes later Yoon Jung came out of the bathroom. She walked to her bed 

 

and took off the bathrobe she had been wearing, and started wearing the clothes she 

 

had picked out earlier. After she got dressed Yoon Jung went to her vanity table 

 

and combed her blow dried hair.

 

A knock came on her door and this time Yoon Jung answered, “What is it?”
