Final

The Smart Type

It's pretty short and boring. I apologize for the late update. If it sounds awkward, then I don't blame you. Enjoy your read!

“I’ve always hated algebra,” the librarian sighed, putting a pile of returned books to one side of her desk.

“I guess it becomes easy once you’ve gotten used to it.”

She nodded and smiled at Daehyun. He bowed slightly, and went to sit at the table he usually sat at; the one directly in the center of the whole library.

Daehyun took off his backpack and quietly set it down on the chair next to the one he’d sit every day, like usual.

He took out his textbook, and rummaged through the bag’s front pocket to try and find some type of writing utensil.

He sighed, only finding an eraser and a protractor.

It wasn’t as crowded in the library – obviously because it was a library – and he knew that the librarian would never let him borrow one of her utensils, since she’s so possessive towards those sticks of plastic, wood and lead.

The brunette looked around and wondered if he could ask someone for a pencil, at least. He suddenly took a double take at a young man, who looked about his age, crying.

Daehyun wondered. But he was more likely confused. As the young man cried, he turned the page of his book, and continued reading.

The man was awestruck – that book must’ve really been that powerful to make someone cry like that. For some odd reason, Daehyun couldn’t look away. The man he was looking at didn’t even know he was the center of Daehyun’s attention. He was fascinated by the way his expression would change throughout the book.

He’d have a sad expression on at one moment, with quivering lips. Another moment, he’d sigh, relieved.

Daehyun sat there. Literally. He didn’t even think about having a pencil or pen of some sort, nor did he even pay much attention to the homework he’d come to the library for.

He smiled a little as he saw the young man smile as well. His cheekbones were like little marshmallows, and the dips underneath them could’ve been considered dimples, but not in a sense.

His eyes creased at the sides. That made Daehyun smile wider. His attention was fully on the younger boy, until he noticed that he closed his book, and looked around the room. His eyes casually landed on Daehyun, who was staring at him already.

Daehyun’s eyes widened, and he quickly tried to look busy. Taking his spread out papers and putting them into one pile and shoving them hastily into his backpack.

“Excuse me?” Daehyun heard the voice from behind him. He was faced with that beautiful man he’d been looking at for a long while.

“Y-yes?” Daehyun tried resisting the stuttering, but couldn’t.

“Is this yours? I found it under your chair.” The man handed Daehyun the pencil and the man sitting was dumbfounded, because in fact, it was the pencil he was looking for.

He grabbed the pencil from the stranger’s hand and tucked it into his backpack.

“Thanks,” he quickly told the other.

“I couldn’t help but notice you looking at me as I read my book back there.”

Daehyun turned a crimson red and looked up at the man.

“You were crying and-“

“Yeah, it’s the books fault for being such a damn good read,” he smiled, his cheekbones even more visible to Daehyun.

“So…” he started. Daehyun looked at him quizzically.

“Why were all your school materials out if you were just gonna look at me anyway?”

The older man smiled, “I came to study. But I didn’t think I’d be studying you instead.”

This made Mr. Cheekbones laugh heartedly, “Are you interested in me?”

“A bit.” Daehyun scratched the back of his neck, “I just like how you’d concentrate on the book and how much you enjoy it, by the looks of it.”

“Well thanks.” He laughed again.

“I’m sorry, I haven’t introduced myself. I’m Daehyun. Jung Daehyun.” He extended his hand for the other man to reach.

“Hello Daehyun. I’m Youngjae. Yoo Youngjae.” Youngjae reached for Daehyun’s hand and shook it joyfully, as he asked, “Would you like to grab some coffee sometime?”

Daehyun couldn’t help but admire the way Youngjae’s hand was so soft, and were a bit smaller than his. He thought it was just plain adorable. But when he realized he was being asked a question, he retracted his hand back to his side.

“I would love to.”

I'm so sorry. I really am.

I finally got a chance to update this because it's Spring Break. XoX

Forgive me. TT TT
