█Byul.

The humans were staring at me with varying expressions. The boy who bought me earlier had what can only be described as a grimace on his face – which is too bad, really, since he’s pretty cute. “It’s so cute!” his mom cooed, patting my head; my eyes shone at the compliment, but I don’t think she noticed. Psh. Humans; they never notice. “Such an adorable little thing, appropriate for my adorable little Karam!”
Karam. So that’s what his name is.
“Mom,” he groaned, visibly embarrassed. “I’m just gonna go to my room.”
“Okay honey,” she intoned, returning to her chores.
Karam tossed me rashly onto his dresser, fixing me with his scrutinizing eyes. “Well, since I’m stuck with you, I guess I’m gonna have to name you.” After gazing at me for about a second, he threw up his hands. “No idea.” He proceeded to stride over to the window.
The sky – I remember it originally being a light shade of blue before I left the store – had been blanketed by a layer of velvet. I watched in rapt attention as something sparkly shot by, temporarily bathing Karam’s face in light. A faint memory triggered in my mind – one of my friends back at Sungie’s Workshop informing me about things like these: shooting stars. “I wish I had a girlfriend,” he murmured, lowering his eyes. Aw, the poor guy was lonely. “Eh, a guy can dream.”
Oh my gosh – he’s changing into his pajamas! Stare stare.
Karam seemed to notice that I was ogling him. With a slightly creeped out expression, he stepped toward me before turning me the other way; I faced the wall with a silent huff. Curse my inability to move.
He heaved a sigh once again, his eyes drifting toward the open window. Stars dotted the sky, stretching on for miles and miles. “I’ll name you Byul.”
Beneath that seemingly cold, impenetrable shell of mine, I smiled.
