PROLOGUE

"Eomma? Eomma...What are you doing?" Hanwol's voice sounded foreign to her own ears; like she was speaking through water or something. She reached out to touch her mother but yanked her hand back in terror when she saw what it was her mother was hunched, crying over. 

It couldn't be. 

If she was standing there behind her mother, how could she be laying still on that bed? And her skin. Her once milky skin, wrought with bruises and appearing as thin as parchment. If Hanwol were to reach out, she wondered, would her fingers pierce through that paper-thin membrane? And why, underneath those angry purple splotches, was her skin so deathly pale?

She wracked her brain desperately, trying to remember the past few days through the haze and fog of her aching mind.

One sentence in particular stood out: Kang Hanwol, I will make you suffer.

But who was it that has said those words to her? And what did that have to do with her current predicament?

In forewords in books, I've noticed, authors either thank everyone they've ever met or a collegue and personal friend introduces the story with their thoughts. That is why I've recruited my dear friend HwangMimi to write a synopsis about my upcoming work. She may not be an extremely established author --and has, in fact, only been on the site a while longer than I- she is an author I enjoy and a good friend.

As introduced, I'm HwangMimi, but I prefer Mimi :) I've worked with jeppfan for a few years actually, and in those years I think we've developed a feel for each other as authors and as human beings, and let me just say that Ceci (her name!) is the most goal-driven and motivated person I have ever met. She meticulously writes in a journal to keep track of all of her ideas and keeps a planner that details her entire life. Yes, she's obsessive and compulsive and all those other weird quirks that makes for such an amazing person.

But enough about compliments and ho-hum fangirling, because that isn't what you're interested in, amirite?

You want to know what you're getting yourself into, and I'm here to tell you.

Ceci is always running ideas by me, and it came down to two choices for her debut story on AFF: "My Boyfriend Likes Boys" a sort of sad story disguised as a cute comedy, and "Unseen".

I love both, to be perfectly honest, and I'm the biggest advocate in the world for "My Boyfriend Likes Boys" to be written soon. But something about "Unseen" was really captivating and mysterious. 

I hope that you'll feel angry, and feel sad, and feel happy. I hope that Ceci will be good enough to move and shake you. I can't say she will, but I can say that the plot is powerful and dark and I hope you enjoy it as much as I enjoyed her bouncing the ideas off of me.
