"To love someone, you need to be able to support them."

     Tao knew that better than anyone else as he smiled at Kris on he bleachers of their high school. He cheered him on as the taller one of the two scored another basket. Their friendship may be somewhat of a secret, but that never stopped Tao from supporting Kris at his basket ball games, or from Kris shooting a grin in Tao's direction. After the game, and after Kris talked to his more popular friends, he met up with Tao who was standing outside the school by himself. He was patiently and happily waiting for Kris, because he'd wait forever for Kris. Kris smiled again at Tao who returned the favor nd gave Kris a joy filled hug.

"Congrats." Tao said smiling. There wasn't much to say between them, but there wasn't much needed. Their friendship was so strong that they needed no words. Kris simply chuckled  and nodded and began to walk home with Tao, who lived just across the street of him. The air was calm and sent both of the teens into a soft happy mood.

"To love someone you need to be able to listen without a judging ear."

     Tao sat on his bed as he listened to Kris complain about his girlfriend, who Kris felt was cheating on him. Tao knew Kris' words hurt. Tao knew Kris had no idea. Tao knew that once Kris hung up, he himself would cry endlessly. But for now, Tao sat listening to his best friend, who had no idea he was destroying Tao with each and every word. Tao hated Kris' girlfriend. She was an interruption to Tao and Kris' friendship, and she was a reminder to Tao that he would never have a chance with Kris. He would live his life alone. But that was ok with Tao, as long as kris' was happy. Even if another woman could make him happy, he was happy.

"Tao, what should I do?" Kris' voice was pleading. "She makes me very happy."

Tao knew that his girlfriend wasn't Tao's favorite person in the world. That he'd be selfish if he said what he really wanted to. Tao gulped and said eight words that literally made him cry quietly. "If she makes you happy, you should stay."

Tao could practically hear Kris grinning by now. "Ahh! Alright, Tao! Thanks so much, man! I gotta go. Take care. You're such a great friend.~" Tao simply nodded even though Kris couldn't see, and hung up.

Tao cried that night. He cried as long as he could. But he cried with a smile on his face, for he had helped Kris. And that was enough for Tao. If it had been Kris, Tao would've ranted on too. He couldn't judge his friend like that.

Tao sighed as he listened to Kris talk about his girlfriend while they ate thier lunch. At first, Tao was thrilled that Kris asked him to go eat out. Now, he was wondering if he was seriously regretting the decision. All Kris talked about was how jealous he got when other guys went near his girlfriend. He completely ignored Tao and didn't even notice when Tao didn't answer him! Tao swallowed his sandwich feeling numb. Kris was so naive. Of course she was cheating on him! But with one little smile Victoria was off the hook. It wasn't fair. Tao's heart hurt too much. He wanted to be Victoria. Yet, Tao looked at Kris and saw his smile and knew that even though they were so far, he'd always be close to Kris. And that was enough to stay.

"Hey, Tao, are you okay? You don't look too good." Kris asked out of concern, reaching out to touch Tao.

Tao smiled, bathing in Kris' touch but moved away. He knew this would be no good.

"Ah yes, I'm fine."

Kris nodded. "Oh yeah! Did you see Victoria today? SHe looked so pretty..." Kris ranted on.

Sometimes Tao wondered if he was a masochist.

I honestly never meant to finish this but since some people actually wanna read it I guess I can give it a shot. Sorry for the long wait. :P Next chapter will hopefully be better.
