Foreword

As the plane took off, I settle comfortably in my seat, all aprehension left behind in my home land. I sighed, closing my eyes and plugging my earphones in, taking the chance to relax and enjoying the fact that I am now independant. After living with my parents for three years after I graduated high school, I was starting to feel caged in. My days were repetitive and boring and my parents were always nagging for me to do something with my life. It was when my parents announced their seperation that I decided that was the last straw. That was when I made the life-changing decision to move to Korea.

I went through the painstaking progress of applying for a Korean course at a Korean university, applying for a visa and applying for a passport. The whole process took just over a year to complete and now at age 21, all my work is finally coming to fruition. My heart felt light as a feather in pure happiness. But my happiness and relaxation time was cut short. Not long after I sat down, two giggling girls came to claim the seats next to me, holding professional cameras and speaking in fluent Korean. I turned to scowl at them for all the noise they were making, but they hardly noticed. Their attention was focused solely on the first class cabin not too far in front of us. With my curiosity burning a hole in my brain, I peeked over the top of the seat in front of me and saw what looked to be, seven extremely handsome men boarding the plane. But my attention was mostly caught by one.

Words could not explain how handsome he was. His face was like the Korean version of an Adonis carving. His face was perfectly proportioned; slightly slanted eyes, straight nose and a relatively full mouth. His skin was white and flawless, with dotted pimples here and there, but it was the flaws that made him attractive. His black hair waved over his forehead, barely masking his eyes which were lit up with laughter, as the guy in front of him tripped over one of their friends feet as a joke. His eyes literally sparkled like the night sky. I could not take my eyes off him. I barely even noticed when they - my eyes - teared up and ran salty tracks down my cheeks. Briefly breaking out of my reverie, my hearing zoned in on what the girls next to me were saying, and making use of the little korean I knew, I was able to discern that the one that had caught my attention's name was Kiseop. Lee Kiseop. A perfect name for a perfect man.

I flopped back in my seat, my heart beat was erratic and if I spoke, I knew my voice would be hoarse. Settling down, I decided that it would be in my best interest to completely forget the man I'd seen before, and with that I drifted off to sleep for the duration of the flight. But as I stepped off the plane the next day, I could not help but glance back in search of the handsome guy before. When I couldn't find him, I walked through the airport in search of the woman who was supposed to be picking me up and taking me to my dorm. Spotting her with my name printed on a piece of cardboard, I made my way over, trying to avoid the screaming girls who were now swarming the airport terminal. I didn't even want to think about who they were screaming for, but it wasn't within my power when I found out who. Something - or rather someone - hit my back, sending me flying forward, my heart lurching in panic. My arms flew out, bracing themselves so that I wouldn't fall face first, and my eyes squeezed closed; ready for the pain. But impact never came. My arm was tightly in a strong grip, and I cracked one eye open hesitantly to view who's hand it was. This time, it was my stomach that lurched - but not in a bad way - as I viewed the perfect man from earlier, holding me up with a worried glint in his beautiful eyes. My frugal knowledge of Korean was put into play once more as he reflexively said; "Are you ok?". I nodded and jerked my arm free, trying to hide my intense blush by burying my chin into my chest. My eyes flickered to the side though, just in time to catch a smile creeping across his face as he said in really awkward English "That's a relief,". I nodded once more and hastened to the waiting woman with my name on her cardboard. Once again, I decided it was in my best interest to forget Lee Kiseop. But little did I know that a fateful encounter in the future would be putting my best interests to waste.
