Standing on three different tiers of the hierarchy, they have nothing in common. But the Third Realm is no longer safe and at the heart of it all is the one girl that they would lay their lives down for. It's no longer about who you can trust, it's about who can keep you alive.

The stadium burst into deafening applause as the two competitors stepped onto the Grid.

But while there was a festive atmosphere in the air, amongst the crowd of eager faces, three people stared towards the large field, stony-faced and tense.

A young man with hair as dark as a moonless night…

He wore the distinctive Lieutenant coat, the three golden stripes on his insignia shining. Indifferent to the admiring glances being cast his way, his startling blue eyes were focused solely to where the younger competitor looked up to the stands to seek him out. He offered a brief smile, but it quickly disappeared once she’d turned away.

A young woman with a reputation…

Sitting next to him, she wanted to reach out and touch the man’s hand to assure him that everything would be okay. But aside from the steady gazes of those who were watching her and judging her, she would not have done so anyway. That was not part of their relationship. She was not his friend or his confidante. She was his Captain.

A man with responsibility…

Directly to the right of the throne of the Chancellor, he watched as the red flare shot into the sky, signaling the start of the competition. He stood to make the announcement, adjusting the dark green coat that signified his rank.

‘The third battle of this evening will be Lee Ha Ni Captain versus Kim Ji Ae Captain. Ha Ni Captain has challenged for the right to acquire Officer ChanYeol for her ship. The fight time is thirty minutes, the first to concede or lose consciousness will lose. Captains, are you ready?’

A sister and a friend…

The young captain looked up once more into the stands, towards her older brother and her respected sunbae.
