The Yellow Sticky Note
Description
The Kris back in high school was basically one of the many lost teens in the world. It was his last year of high school, and he seemed to be the only one having difficulty deciding where to go from there. His friends and classmates all seem to have a dream course in college, or a dream job when they start working, but Kris just wanted to graduate and get the hell out of high school. He couldn’t give two hoots about anything or anyone. Except for just one person. But when he does, it’s too late.
Calling him the most misunderstood kid on the planet is probably the biggest understatement. Zitao was always picked on because of his birthplace and his abilities. They made fun of him for his slightly tanner skin, they keep bringing up the stereotype that every Chinese person knows kung fu. Zitao was sick of it, sick of everything. The only thing—the only person—that kept him alive until now, the reason why he didn’t end his life earlier, was the boy who watched from the sidelines every time he got beat up.
Foreword
Prologue
Kris silently surveyed the boy sitting in front of him. The boy had been taken in for beating up a fellow student, and he refused to admit that he was wrong. Kris sighed and leaned forward, clasping his hands together and resting his elbows on his desk that was clattered with documents and files.
“Do you know why you’re here, Jongin?” He asked. The youth just stared past him, jaw firm and eyes set. “Okay, you don’t want to talk about it. We’ll talk about something else. Shall I tell you a story, then?”
That seemed to have gotten the student’s attention, as Jongin’s gaze flickered to him for a split second, before returning to its earlier position.
“I’ll tell you a story, and if I manage to change something in you, the way you think or maybe just shed a little more light on the way you see things, you’re going to talk to me. You’re going to tell me everything, why you’re bullying the student, why you don’t pick on anybody but him. Do we have a deal?”
Jongin just looked at him, he didn’t nod or show any recognition, but Kris managed to get his attention.
“I’ll take your silence as a yes.”
