Description
The "Better Government" has taken over. And with it, a new type of life is established. Everyone is given life counters which are all located on each person's arm. Prices have risen and poverty has set in for everyone. There is a new type of purchase method. Cash is still used but since cash has become scarce, people also exchange time, body parts, and memories.
You can give your time away but you can never get it back. Once it's gone, it's gone. The same goes for memories. You can exchange a memory for something at the market but you can never know what memory they will take.
It's a problem for district residents like Sungyeol and Sungjong. You can only scavenge for so long. Time is limited but when you're starving you have to buy food. And even one piece of bread can be worth more than half your life.
Based on the world portrayed in the movie IN TIME and inspired by Countdown (a Kaisoo story)

Foreword
Sungyeol took out the loaf of bread from within his messenger bag and gave it to Sungjong who immediately grabbed it and started smelling it.
“Wow. This is so good,” he sniffed it and then looked at it, “The quality. It’s,” he suddenly looked suspicious and turned glaring eyes at Sungyeol. Sungyeol shirked back a little bit. Sungjong was too quick and he yanked Sungyeol’s arm.
Sungjong immediately dropped the bread as he eyed the time on Sungyeol’s arm, “One week?” Sungjong couldn’t look away and Sungyeol quickly felt tears falling onto his arm.
“Sungjong I couldn’t let us starve. I couldn’t let you—“
“Shut up!” Sungjong stood up and grabbed a wooden crate from the corner and threw it down on the floor.
“I would rather starve to death then let you die! You were doing this for us?” Sungjong was yelling at Sungyeol, “Are you kidding me? How can you do this? How can you give up one month?” Sungjong looked at his own arm and began scratching at it like it would get rid of the glowing numbers on it, “How can I live without you for five months?” he looked at Sungyeol and he saw that Sungjong was broken, “How can I live without you?”
