She had a lot of ambition, a lot of passion and most importantly a lot of dreams. She wanted to see the world, go on adventures and meet new people. She wanted the storybook romance and the happily ever after.

Unfortunately, her life was far from a storybook tale with adventures and love, she wasn’t even sure if it had a happy ending. Her ambitions and dreams seemed to be nothing more than that.

Jung Arisu was a twenty year old student coming from a big and underprivileged family, her parents never had a lot of money to spend other than the bare necessities. She and her three younger siblings never really had the same things as all the other kids had. They didn’t have the newest phones or computers or even clothes. Their idea of a family vacation was sitting in the back yard with a little inflatable pool and occasionally roasting sweet potatoes as means of a barbecue. And although their situation wasn’t ideal, although she wished that sometimes she had all the things her classmates had, she didn’t complain. She knew her parents worked hard for all they had right now and that anything given to her was given out of love, so she bared with it.

As Arisu got older she managed to earn herself a scholarship for a good college in Seoul. To make expenses even easier for her parents, she moved out of her parental home and stayed with her grandparents who lived in Seoul themselves. She took on a part-time job working as a waitress in a coffee shop to earn some extra money to help around the house. But even that only barely made due for their situation and she knew that she couldn’t ask for money to save up for her dream to travel the world. So, to earn money for this dream she took on a second job working nights at an underground club.  

There was another thing that motivated her. One dream she really wanted to make true. Like any other girl around her age, Arisu was into KPOP and especially the group SHINee. She knew every song by heart, had watched every tv performance she could and even had some posters in her room that a friend of her had given.  And all she really wanted was to see them perform live at a concert, just once. But tickets were expensive and impossible for her to get so she had to work hard and save up money to stand a chance.

Though her dreams were big, she realized and accepted the fact that most of them would probably never come true. She probably wouldn’t be able to travel the world after her studies, she wouldn’t be able to go to a concert, and the more she thought about it the less she believed that her storybook romance would ever happen.

Then one day, something happened that believers of fairytales would consider calling destiny when a man entered her coffee shop. A young man who could potentially be her knight in SHINee armor…
