Urban Legends-Japan | Year 1979-
“Bachan, where is Okasan?” little Mikosama slowly sat beside her grandmother
who was sitting near the sliding door. Emi hugged her Grandma after a loud
scream was heard, “Bachan, what was that?” “Its Kuchisake-onna, my child.”
Mikosama looked at her Grandma, waiting her to tell her a story. “No, no
Mikasama, Kuchisake-onna must not be told this time of the night. ” “How
about Okasan and Otosan?” Grandma shhed her and told her to go to bed.
“Goddess Amida please protect the children from Kuchisake-onna.” she stood
up, sets her kimono and went to her bedroom.
-Seoul, Korea | Year 2013-
Dasom and Daeun pulled each other's hair, “Can you guys behave?” Kwangmin
pulled both of their hair making them scream. Youngmin came out from the
bathroom, breaking his old record, 2 hours inside the bathroom. Kwangmin
went back to the computer, signaling the Lee twins to follow him. “As you
can see, Japan have this urban legend..” Kwangmin showed them the screen.
Kuchisake-onna
Kuchisake-onna (裂け女?, "Slit-Mouthed Woman") is a figure appearing in Japanese urban legends. She is a woman who ismutilated by a jealous husband and returns as a malicious spirit. When rumors of alleged sightings began spreading in 1979, it spread throughout Japan and caused panic in many towns. There are even reports of schools allowing children to go home only in groups escorted by teachers for safety,[1] and of police increasing their patrols.
“That was quite shocking, some kid walking be killed with no reason.”
both Dasom and Daeun hugged each other. “So, you guys thinking what
I am thinking?” Kwangmin smiled mischievously. Youngmin tsked since
he already figured out what was Kwangmin thinking.
Thus, the next day, they started packing their things. “Yah! Daeun
be careful with the video camera! we might need it!” Kwangmin glared
at both of them. Youngmin slowly packed his things when his phone
rang,
“Yoboseyo?”
“Annyeong! This is Seohyun, Can I talk to Dasom?”
“Yes wait a minute.”
Youngmin handed the phone to Dasom who was, once again pulling her
sister's hair.
“Yoboseyo?”
“Hi Dasom! I heard that you guys are going to tokyo..”
“Yes yes! You wanna come?”
“I would like to! Can I bring along Tiffany and Jessica unnie?”
“Ok! See you tomorrow at the park, ne?”
“Nae! See yah!”
-The Next Day-
“Its so hot...” Youngmin fanned himself as Dasom and Daeun pulled each
other's hair, yet once again. “Why did you come in the first place?”
Kwangmin scolded, Youngmin cried on Daeun's shoulder. “Why did you do
that for?” Dasom childishly screamed at Kwangmin, who was that time
ignoring the three of them.
About sometime, Seohyun and the others finally arrived. “Kwangminnnnn~”
Tiffany came hugging Kwangmin while Jessica was having a chat with
Dasom and Daeun. “So we're going to Tokyo, not for a vacation but for
a urban legend busting?” Jessica frowned while the Lee Twins smiled.
As they were going inside the airport, Kwangmin immidiatly took their
tickets and headed to the plane with the others.
-Japan-
They arrived in Japan with a warm welcome by the relatives of Dasom
Daeun.
“How are you?” Her aunt the Lee twins while the others were astonished
by the decorations hanging at some shops. “What's with the decorations,
Ahjumma?” Youngmin tilted his head while looking at the shops. “Well,
we have this celebration every summer, when we wear our yukata. We
often put lanterns as decorations.” she smiled at Youngmin. “What is a
yukata?” Youngmin whispered at his Tiffany noona. Tiffany shook her
head and asked the quistion to Jessica. “Yukata is a kimono. At the
ast, people wear them after taking a bath, but now, they are mainly
a fixture of the summer streetscape, where they are worn by the people
young and old, male and female, alike.” They all clapped at Jessica.
Jessica rolled her eyes and looked at the window.
“Wow! this house is pretty damn awesome!” Kwangmin's eyes went
sparkling while he was open-closing the sliding doors. Dasom stood
up and smacked Kwangmin. “Wha?!” Kwangmin sulked at a corner while
Tiffany was comforting him.
“What?! You came here to study about a-long-lost urban legend,
Kuchisake-onna!?” Aunt Ayaka stood up, making them all shock. Dasom
and Daeun nodded as they were pointing to Kwangmin.
“Kuchisak-onna is..”
