BASIC INFORMATION

ang note: hi, i'm literally going to hold your hand here. i think everything should be easy. if not,  then i'm sorry. please send a comment or pm me questions!
 ETHNICITY:  at least half-asian, please! if they are full japanese or chinese or thai or etc., please explain why they ended up in korea! 
 LOCATION:  i can't believe i forgot to mention this! but, beonhwa is located in the jongno district of seoul! 
  GOSSIP:   in this section, just include what people say when they talk about them. it can be simple like: "what does she look like" "she has long hair, her nose kinda flat, a solid 8" or big rumors or stories!
 DOB+AGE:  hi this takes place in 2015-2016! school year started at 2015. here are some age brackets! include western/international age with korean age in parenthesis! freshman 14-15 years old, int. age (not korean age) sophomore 15-16, int. age junior 16-17, int. age senior 17-18, int. age. 
- random note: unlike america, your character can probably start driving by junior year. since i think its 18 when you can get a license in sk and if u go by korean age, they'll be 18 in junior year.
 GRADE SYSTEM:  
- i think korean high schools only have three years. so, freshman year in beonhwa would be the final year of middle school in korea. if your chara is a freshman, they would have left their middle school friends early :(
- freshman/9th grade -- 3rd year middle schooler in korea
- sophomore/10th grade -- 1st year high schooler
- junior/11th grade -- 2nd year high schooler
- senior/12th grade -- 3rd year high schooler in korea
grades your character could be in! (depending on plotline):
- seriously, i'm just a fan!: 10th or 11th | the varsity hottie: grade above her
- a bad case of senioritis: 12th | the spirit doctor: 12th
- a whole new world and the charming cassanova: 9th
- oops, secret spilled: 11th or 12th | the witty nerd: 11th or 12th
- the blooming wallflower: 10th, 11th, or 12th | the blackmailer: same grade as her
- #squad goals: 10th, 11th, or 12th. her squad must be in the same grade as her | intruder, intruder!: must be in the same grade or a grade above (if she's in advanced math)

THIS FACE IS ALWAYS IG READY

 SUSHI ROLLS NOT GENDER ROLES:  pref. female characters! i have no problem with males characters but i just think it would be easier to write in a female pov (personally) for these plotlines. unless, you are very descriptive with your character's application!
some plotlines have to be female but here are some plotlines where gender doesn't matter!
- a bad case of senioritis (can be female or male). the spirit doctor can be male or female as well. 
- a whole new world can be male or female.
- the blooming wallflower and their blackmailer can be female or male. since lgbt r/s aren't widely accepted in sk yet, this would have to be a heteroual relationship, because the blackmailer is making a really big deal out of dating the wallflower. 
- #squad goals can have your chara as a male and the squad be a male squad. whether your chara is female or male, the squad can be mixed gender! 
 SHE LOOKS HER AGE, I GUESS...:  make ur chara look their age please! this also goes for friends and love interests and etc. u can use idols, ulzzangs, models, etc!
- if you are choosing an idol, please specify what your character looks like. for example, if momo is your fc, specify whether she looks like 'cheer up' or 'like ooh-ahh' era momo.
- freshmen: usually young. for example, oh my girl's arin and nct u's mark!
- sophomores: more mature, but still young looking. from observation, many sophomores start to wear makeup. for example, cherrykoko models and twice's chaeyoung, svt's dino/lee chan are good examples for sophomores.
- juniors: they start to look older, some even grow beards (but that wouldn''t happen in sk normally). for example, rv's seulgi, nct u's ten, ikon's hanbin, most of twice, and svt's vernon.
- seniors: look Old. you can tell they're seniors and they're taller or have bigger builds (muscles or curves). for example, svt's mingyu, exo's sehun, snsd's tiffany, infinite's myungsoo, and rv's irene!
ulzzang gam dain is taken as a fc. 
 OC's:  
- what i noticed is that everyone uses idol fc's now (but with new names)... before ppl used ulzzangs and such. uh, i think if you guys have been doing applyfics recently, you would get how this works. i don't... so i prefer for friends and love interests if you would keep their irl names! for example, don't make your love interest's name oh saehun with nct u's jaehyun face. just keep it jaehyun... cause someone might make jaehyun their fc for a rival with the name sam kim. ultimately, do whatever floats ya boat. i may be confused but if things get jumbled, i'll sort it out! 

ITS THE INSIDE THAT COUNTS...

 REDUCE, REUSE, RECYCLE:  reusing basics (name, dob, h+w, faceclaim, friends) is okay. but, copy+pasting your whole app is NOT okay. i've seen that happen a lot before and it was like the same chara in 5+ stories?
  QUALITY, OR QUANTITY:   tbh, i like both. i want like an equilibrium of both, though. i do not want to see one paragraph of a bland chara, nor do i want to see 20 paragraphs of a bland chara either. expand as much as you need to, but make sure you get. that. message. across!!
 CLICHE? CLICHE.:  okay honestly this story is lowkey and the plots are cliche. but, having cliche characters are okay, i guess. just make sure you try to make them as unique as possible! 
 LIKES, DISLIKES, HABITS, TRIVIA, DREAMS:  
- honestly this is the best part of every app. i feel like this is where characters expand. its the little things that count. this section may be the make-it or break-it when i decide!
- for the habits section, you can also include little things your character is known for. for example, this one classmate of mine broughout her bluetooth speaker to lunch and blasted music everyday. she also dabbed (dancing) frequently. true story.
- social media: idk if you are old or not, but for my teasers and chapters here i used to write social media captions the characters would post. phone usage is allowed at beonhwa. and high schoolers are inseparable with twitter, snapchat, and insta!! so list out all the sns they have. it isn't mandatory for them to, except for the blooming wallflower (since she would have a lot of ig followers from beonhwa cause of her selcas). from the first vesion of this story, one character had a twitter that posted all the gossip info of beonhwa and game updates for their fav soccer player. (it wasn't anonymous, everyone knew who owned the acc. you can see which plotline is that, lol.) 

THE PAST IS THE PAST...

 MY FIRST SOB STORY:  think. if your character was someone you knew in real life, would you believe their background story? 
  HOW DID YOU GET ENROLLED INTO BEONHWA?:   the school is public so its free. but, its grown so popular that an application process is required. why did your character get the opportunity to attend the school? this isn't really an important part... UNLESS:
- a whole new world: your character is a freshman so this is their first time in beonhwa. it kinda matters why they were able to go to the school. a common question for freshmen, is "where did you go before beonhwa?" 
- the blooming wallflower: dwaesoo is the rival school so there's a bias towards those students. how did your character successfully enroll into beonhwa??
- if your character is a foreigner and you did not expand on why they chose to attend beonhwa, please explain it here. if your character is american, it may be easier to get enrolled since beonhwa utilizes an american school system.

 WE ARE FAMILY:  yoo jaesuk is taken as my character's dad! i don't really care if you choose to change names for parent faceclaims. you don't even need to have fc's for family members. for siblings, if you choose idol fc's, you can tweak their name! i'd prefer if you keep it the same tho.

FRIENDSHIP NEVER ENDS

 THE:  the peeword is a lil playlist or add links of songs that your chara relates to. i hid this on purpose to see if y'all have been reading this cheat sheet.
 SAY THE NAME:  so, i've been explaining this but... i'd prefer if you guys keep your character's friends name's the same with their fc's. for example, woohyun (infinite) is my character's best friend. his name is still nam woohyun, just a different personality from real life woohyun! if you absolutely, 100% have to change their name, so be it. in that case, put a backup faceclaim just in case! also, you can use any idol, idc!
 #RISEBESTIE2K16:  ok in the app, i only have one template for all the best friends and friends. obviously, just copy that template as you add more friends! for best friends, don't go overboard! be realistic. not everyone is your best friend in high school! for "#squad goals" include your character's three other best friends. for "a bad case of senioritis", if you do not want "the spirit doctor" to be your character's love interest, then put them in the best friend section. in that case, you may make another chara your oc's love interest.
 FRIENDS AND OTHERS:  if you are applying for "oops, secret spilled" then specify your character's r/s with "seriously, i'm just a fan!" write this in what your character thinks of "s,ijaf!" they are friends, but is the friendship fake or is it a true friendship? also, if you do not want the "witty nerd" to turn out as a love interest, put them in the friend section. 
- occupation: the characters you make do not need to have jobs! but, include what grade they are in and what school they go to (if they do not attend beonhwa.) if they attend beonhwa, please specify what clubs, sports, etc. they are in!
- you may use my character or any of her friends/love interest/family as friends, rivals, etc.! i'll try to get my own example app up so you know how i'm potraying them!
 

 IS THERE ANYONE YOU LOOK UP TO AT BEONHWA?:  throughout high school, people have classmates they "fangirl" over or seniors they respect. its not mandatory to fill this section in. 
 INTERCONNECTING PLOTS:  so not all the plotlines will be besties. they may simply just be friends or have heard of each other. for example, my character would probably get along with "seriously, i'm just a fan!" because she loves gossip, lol.
 

IF YOU WANT TO BE MY LOVER

 LOVE INTEREST:  when you fill it out, its the same as you would fill it out for the friend section! i'm most familiar with infinitexo, but it shouldn't matter! keep in mind, you can alter the oc's personalities as much as you want. for this section, just focus on the dynamic between  your character and the love interest. infinite's sunggyu and svt's hoshi are taken as love interests!
 SPECIFICS:  
- "seriously, i'm just a fan!": the love interest is the varsity hottie. the plotline "oops, secret spilled" is dating the hottie, but they don't have the choice of choosing the fc. "the wity nerd" has a crush on your character, but your character is unaware of it. therefore, those applying for "oops, secret spilled" will pick who "the witty nerd" is.
- "a bad case of seniortis": i intended for "the spirit doctor" to be the love interest for your character. if you rather have them to be best friends, that's okay! if you do that, then you may pick another love interest. 
- "oops, secret spilled": put "the varsity hottie" as your backup love interest. in here, just describe their r/s and why its not working out. also, if you do not want "the witty nerd" to be your character's love interest, just put them in the friend or others section. 
- "the blooming wallflower": if you don't want the blackmailer to be the love interest, put the person your character actually likes as the back-up love interest! then specify that "the blackmailer" is not the one your character actually likes. 

SCHEDULE

 CLASSES:  
- ONLY fill out the grade your character is in. for each field, bold what class your character is taking. if its confusing, tell me! this aspect is just a minor part. i often write scenes in classes so if two characters are in the same grade and share a class, they can interact! 
- freshmen have to take 6 classes
- sophomores have to take 6 classes
- juniors can take 5 classes if they want
- seniors can take 4 classes
- mandatory elective periods and sports are counted as classes!
 EXTRACURRICULAR:  
- for sports: if they do not play one (and they are a freshman or sophomore), then they'd have to do beginning dance or p.e!
- extracurriculars are optional, so you do not have to fill out that section!

ETC, ETC

 SOURCE CODE:  do not mess up the source code! if there are big chunks of spaces, its intentional! unless you know how to fix that, please don't touch it. it'll wonk up the final look of the application. also, you guys can do fancy stuff with the font (coloring and using diff fonts) and pics. the only thing i care about are that the table codes and the basic frame of my application looks the way it does!
