               'Wha-?'

               'What is that goddamn noise?'

Beep beep

               'Stop it'

You slowly open your eyes and a blinding light greeted you. You groaned as the light burned your sensitive eyes.

               'Where am I?' you say. Your voice was hoarse like you haven't used your voice in a long time.

When our eyes have fully focused and adjusted to the harsh light, you saw white walls surrounding you. People in white uniforms

were walking up and down a corridor minding their own business. The air around you reeked of disinfectant. This place smelled like a

hospital.  You looked down at yourself and noticed that you were wearing a light blue hospital gown. A drip was attached to your arm.

Another tube inserted in your skin was connected to a cardiac monitor. 

                'What the hell happened to me? Mom? Dad? Where are you guys? You said aloud

You tried to sit up but an excrutiating pain shot through your body forcing you to fall back into your bed

                 'Why can't I get up?

You tried again only to receive the same result. You let out a frustrated sigh.

                 '_______? 

You lifted your head towards the direction of the voice. The voice was very familiar.

                 OMG!!! You're awake!!! Thank God!!! Doctor!!! She's awake!!!

The owner of the voice you knew so well belonged to your best friend, half brother Luhan.

Well, you weren't technically related to him. You and Luhan were born in the same hospital on the same day, just at a different time.

Luhan is 40 minutes older than you. Your mom and his mom are close friend so they were thrilled when their babies were born on the

same day. Since both of you were born not the same day, you always looked at him as a brother as he looked at you as his sister.

                  'Luhan? What happened? What are you doing here? You started peppering him with questions. You needed to know

                   what's going on.

                   'Hold your horses _____, you just woke up so don't stress yourself out. The doctor should be here any minute now and

                   he'll explain'

what happens to you' Luhan said as he helped you sit up on your bed. You winced when the pain acted up again.

Few seconds later, a doctor stepped into your ward. He had dark chocolate brown hair and porcelain like skin as if he never stepped 

out into the sun before. You noticed his name tag on his whote coat. Kim JoonMyeon.

                    'Hello Ms______, how are you feeling? I'm Dr Kim JoonMyeon but you can call me Dr Suho if you like' he smiled.

                    'Hi Dr Suho, I'm feeling fine thank you my body is kinda sore whenever I try to sit up. What happened to me? How did I          

                    end up in this hospital?' You asked.              

 He raised his eyebrows in surprise.

                    'You don't know? You were involved in a car accident a month ago. It was a pretty bad one. You were knocked out from 

                     the impact of the crash and slipped into a coma when you reached the hospital. You've been asleep for a month now. 

                    Actually, we're surprised you got up so early. From the seriousness of your injuries, we thought you'd be asleep for a

                    year.' He explained

You thought to yourself for a while.

                    'Actually, I do remember being in an accident. A truck slammed the side of our car. I hit my head against something hard

                    and the next thing I knew, I out. But doctor?'

                    'Where are my parents? Are they okay? Can I go see them? You asked

Luhan and Dr Suho exchanged glances

                     'Is everything okay?? You were starting to get really worried judging by the uncomfortable looks they were giving you.

                     'Well?'

Luhan smiled awkwardly at you and scratched the back of his neck.

                      'Ermm...your parent's are fine. Don't worry. They were admitted out if the hospital 1 week ago.' Luhan explained

                      'So, why aren't they here to see me?'

                      'They....had to leave to take care of some business overseas. They told you not to worry about them and told you to get

                       well soon. They'll come and visit when they can.

                      'O-okay' you swallowed. You tried not to feel too stung that they weren't here when you woke up. After all, your parents

were busy people. You often spent your time home alone, sometimes even for a fortnight when they had to go out on a business trip

overseas.

                      'So Dr, when can I leave the hospital' you asked brightly trying to be cheerful.

                      'Your injuries are quite serious. So I will be awhile before you can be admitted out. In fact, I think you have to go through 

                       an operation. As you know, you dislocated and fractured the bones in both your legs. So, you will have to be patient 

                       and wait okay? In the meantime, if you want to go to toilet or anywhere around the hospital, you can ask one of the 

                       nurse to push you in your wheelchair okay? He smiled

                      'Okay Doc, thanks for your help' you said saluting him and giving him a wide grin.

Dr.Suho laughed and walked out of your ward.

Before you could even turn to your best friend, Luhan launched himself on you and gave you a hug so tight that you were sure your 

ribcage shattered.

                     'My God!!!! I missed you so much _____!!' He said

                     'Ach-keck-breth'

                     'Pardon?'

                     'I-can't-breathe!!   

                     'Oh, I'm so sorry'

                     'Geez Luhan, I just woke up from a coma and now you want to suffocate me?' You joked

                     ' Now your just exagerrating. I'm really gald you woke up!! I was thinking I was gonna lose my best friend forever!!!' he said

                     'Nah, I won't die. I'm tough'                  

                     'Says the girl who cried when she found a couple of ants in her lunch in preschool'

                     'Ugh, don't bring that up again. It was so gross.' you shuddered

Luhan shook his head and hugged you again, this time more gently.

                    'But seriously, I missed you so much. Do you have any idea how lonely I was in school without you? i had no one to plaaay with!! he pouted

You sighed at his immaturity.

                    'Sometimes I wonder wether your older than me'

 He stuck out his tongue at you

                    'That's real mature'

Luhan suddenly smiled

                    'Oh, I almost forgot. Ihave something for you!!'

Your eyes straight away lit up.

                    'Luhan, you are awesome!! What did you get me?' you asked eagerly

                    'Guess'

                    'Is it my favourite chocolate cake from the usual cafe we always go to?' you could already taste the gooey chocolate goodness in your mouth

                    'Nope'

The image of you savoring the cake disappeared

                   'Is it your mom's famous vanilla muffins?' you asked your lips. You swore Luhan's mom made THE best muffins in the universe. It was even better than your mom's muffins. You used to crave for it like a pregnant woman in her 5 month.

                   'Uh uh'

                   'Tell meeeeee' you whined 

                   'Fine fine' he said while bending down to get a bag that was on the floor.

You waited in anticipation to find out what kind of sweet treat he brought to satisfy your sweet tooth. Chocolate? Candy? Ice cre- paper? You looked up at Luhan.

                   'Ermmm...what's this?' you asked

                   'It's homework. I collected all the notes and assignments from school so that you won't be left behin din school.' he said smiling broadly. You socked him in the arm

                   'Ow, what was that for?' he said pouting while rubbing his arm.

                   'Jerk, I thought you were gonna bring me something awesome. Not hell on a paper' you retorted

                   'This is awesome' he protested 'Do you know how long it took me to copy down all these notes for you?'

                    'Nerd' you said sticking your tongue out 

                    ' At least I'm not dumb'

                    'Are you trying to imply that I'm dumb?'

                    'You will be if you don't start studying these notes I painstakingly got for you and a thank you would be in order'

                     'OMG, I'm eternally grateful for your noble assistance in your quest to help me gain knowledge. Let me kiss your feet. you said while doing a half bow to him on the bed.

                     'Your immaturity knows no bounds' he sighed

                      'Says the guy who still took his teddy bear to school because he was scared' you started shaking with laughter when you remembered a 12 year old Luhan hugging his bear in class

                      'Hey, I told you never to bring that up ever again'

You pulled a face. Luhan pulled a worse one. Both of you ended up laughing and teasing each other till your sides hurt.
