The members headed for something to eat before going to the airport. It was only a few more hours to Christmas and the members knew they would be back in Korea before Christmas. The members were in the car on the way home. Yoona noticed that Seohyun was carrying something that she had brought from the airport so she asked her what it was. Seohyun looked like an innocent child that had been caught. She showed Yoona what it was, it was so simple, a little keroro doll wearing a SNSD shirt. Yoona was somewhat surprised by the gift and asked Seohyun if it was for her. Seohyun shook her head and mouthed ever so quietly like that it was for her unnie Taeyeon. Sooyoung who was sat beside her over heard and asked why would she get a gift for Taeyeon. Taeyeon watched the incident taking place and knew something bad was going to happen. Seohyun looked at Sooyoung and told her that she wanted to get something for her Unnie and Sooyoung replied bluntly that they said they weren’t going to buy gifts. Yuri looked at the maknae’s face and pitied her, she told Sooyoung to let it go, it wasn’t a big deal, which caused Sooyoung to become angry, ‘ Well if it wasn’t a big deal, why did we agree to this stupid rule in the first place!’ Yuri was shocked at Sooyoung for raising her voice like that ‘ Yah! Why are you talking to me like that?!’
‘Ugh! This whole thing was stupid! ‘
Sunny: Guys let’s just stop this ok?
Sooyoung: Why? Are we going to do this every time ? just not talk about this? – she said sharply.
Taeyeon hated watching her members like this. She knew sooner or later the members would break but she didn’t want it to happen today. She knew it could only get worse but she didn’t know how to prevent it. The girls remained quiet till they reached the dorm. It was only an hour before Christmas and it was raining heavily outside. The members walked inside with emotions flaring in them, each one headed to their rooms without looking back. Hyoyeon wanted to comfort Seohyun, she knew that Sooyoung didn’t mean to attack her like that but Seohyun pretended she was ok and told Hyoyeon she was going to get something to drink. After a few minutes a few of the members headed into the living room. Sooyoung sat there still somewhat angered. They were looking at the TV but really they were waiting for the other person to speak. Finally, Tiffany did
‘ How long are we going to keep doing this?’
‘ Doing what?’ – Jessica asked
‘ This whole pretending we’re ok.’
The girls wanted to answer, but they didn’t know how to say it, they were tongued tied, there were so much unvoiced opinions, they had kept inside. They had been living so cautiously with one another trying not to anger each other, it was like walking in a mine field, not knowing what the next step would lead to. They had been living like this for several months, neither of them wanted to address the issue, so they kept themselves preoccupied but now it couldn’t be avoided. They couldn’t continue as SNSD like this, they couldn’t continue even being friends like this. Taeyeon looked at their worried faces. It broke her heart, to see them crumble all because of her. She thought by being their holding onto them would cure everything but she was wrong. She had to let them face reality; it was the only way to overcome their problem. The members couldn’t let go when they felt her presence, they couldn’t let her go, they didn’t want to. Yoona looked around and wondered where Seohyun was, Hyoyeon shrugged and thought she was in the kitchen, to which Yoona replied that there was no one there. The members were somewhat confused and began calling her name, after looking around the dorm they realised she wasn’t actually there. The members went into panic mode they began calling her but then realised she had left her phone. The members began to worry, they noticed that she hadn’t taken her car and that she had left her jacket behind. Taeyeon was at a loss, her maknae was gone and no one knew where. Sooyoung began to cry and blame herself but Sunny told her that it wasn’t the time to do this and they should go out and look for her.

The members looked for places they thought she would be at, like SM building, her friends’ house or her parents, but still no sign of her. 30 minutes later the wind had gotten stronger and the rain hadn’t stopped either, Taeyeon was worrying. ‘ what is wrong with this child’ she moaned to herself. She then found herself making her way to Han River, the place was quiet big but she had a feeling she knew where Seohyun was and she was right. Seohyun stood near the tree the girls had once carved on when they were in their trainees days before their debut. Seohyun was soaking but she didn’t move, she just kept her gaze on the street river which reflected the street lights of the city. Taeyeon made her way towards Seohyun and placed her hand on her shoulder, Seohyun looking at her with tears in her eyes, which weren’t as noticeable due to the rain

Seo: Unnie! You... you’re here
Tae: I’m here Seo, I’m always here baby – she said kindly
Seo: But you’re going to leave again aren’t you?
Tae: Unfortunately I have to – she said noticing Seohyun’s sad expression.
Seo: But unnie why? Why can’t you stay? Please stay unnie! – she pleaded, almost begging. It pained Taeyeon to see her like this
Tae: Seo, don’t be like this it will be harder for me if you’re like this – she said the maknae’s face- ‘ Seo, I may not be here holding your hand like I used to, or nagging at you, but I’m always and forever watching over you, so don’t ever think I have forgotten about you or any of the members for even a second ok?
Seohyun nodded like a child
Tae: But Seo, just because I’m not there all the time doesn’t mean all of your lives stop. Do you know how much it pains me to see you all like that? All cold and angry, I wish I could take it away, at least if you were all happy I could leave in peace – she smiled
Seo: It’s hard unnie – her voice cracking
Tae: Aigo... it is. But time will heal everything, you and the members just have to stay strong, never forget to be there or one another, no matter what, never turn your back on each other ok? you can do that for me right?
Seohyun gave a forced smile which made Taeyeon really not want to leave, but it was for the best. There was a bright light shining in front of them, almost blinding them. Taeyeon took a deep breath, she was ready. it was time.
Seo: Do you really have to go unnie?
Tae: Don’t be too sad, we’ll see each other soon, till then tell the members I love them, tell them you all have to be best that SNSD can and tell them to be happy, to cherish the time you all have together. Ok?
Seo: Ok. Saranghae Unnie. – she realised Taeyeon’s hand that she was unconsciously holding
Tae: Saranghae Maknae. Right now it’s SNSD. – she laughed ever so softly and headed into the light

Soo: I think she’s waking up!
The girls gathered around Seohyun who looked confused. She asked the members where she was and they told her they were in hospital. She was confused because the last thing she remembered was talking to Taeyeon. The members looked at her strangely and told her they found her passed out near the Han River and they had to take her to the hospital, this was done with Sooyoung screaming at her once again but with full of love and tears streaming down her face. Seohyun looked at her with a guilty faced and apologised for the present and making them worry which caused Tiffany to hit her then pull her into a bear hug telling her that how could she make them worry like that she thought she was going to calling the Korean Secret Service to find her causing the members to laugh. Seohyun looked out the window and saw that the Sun was close to rising. That mean it was Christmas. She asked the members if they would take her to the rooftop , so they could see the sunrise. At first they were reluctant but she pleaded and they finally agreed. It was somewhat gloomy outside, as the wind blew and the sun slowly began to highlight the damp Seoul in their horizon.Seohyun smiled...

Seo: Merry Christmas – the girls looked at her and saw the trickle of tears that fell
Tiff: Merry Christmas
Soo: Merry Christmas and I’m sorry
Hyo: We all are. – the atmosphere was calm and soothing
Sun: We weren’t ok, ever since the day Taeyeon left we’ve been a shamble. But we’ll get through this. We will. Through the thick and thin, we’ll get through this – her voice began to crack as her tears fell
Jess: You’re right, Taeyeon would scold us if we continue behaving like this, she would want us to work through everything, give the best till the end for her and for us. – the girls nodded in agreement. They couldn’t keep crying and feeling frustrated over something that could never be changed.
Tiff: We will get through this, we always do – she said with a smile on her face, as she wrapped her arms around the members as they huddled together. The wind blew against their skin somewhat encircling them, but soon it was gone and suddenly little snowflakes began to fall. The girls looked at one another with a huge smiles.
Jess: It’s bittersweet, Taeyeon would have loved to be here just to say Merry Christmas – she said laughing. The members laughed solemnly, the thought of their dangshin leader jumping around happily on Christmas Morning made them smile. Seohyun looked into the sunrise as the beautiful colour blended together. She saw a faint figure smiling and waving at her, she smiled back and soon the figure was gone.
Seo: I think unnie is happy just seeing us like this, I think this was her Christmas wish. – she mumbled while smiling happily staring up above.
