Unit 1: Basic Verbs

Writing and Grammar... IT'S A BIG DEAL?

Good morn people! Here's Jjung-ssaem guru to teach you about grammar. Let's first start with the most basic and necessary unit of the English language, the verbs 'to be' and 'have got'. I'm here placing some topics I've learned in my English class and they helped me A LOT when I was simply an 'English Looser'. Let's start with verb 'to be'. Obviously, this verb is seriously important because it is the verb that appears like EVERYWHERE. You may start by decorating this:

Verb 'to be' - Affirmative Form:

I am

You are

He/She/It is

We are

You are

They are

Firstly, the 1st person (I) comes always in big letter, even when it is in the middle of a sentence. For example: I am a studentSeohyun and I love gogumas. As you see, I doesn't change to i or whatever. So, it's very important to decorate this. If you had an English Test and you placed 'i' instead of 'I' you'll loose some points. So, decorate this, it'll be in the test.

Now, the negative and interrogative forms. This is the biggest trouble in fics. Usually, people only decore some stuff and think it's enough. NO NO NO! There's lot of stuff more in English and, to write fics, we need to know a lot of grammar, simply to make a basic one. Make sure you decore this:

Verb 'to be' - Negative Form

I am not - I'm not

You are not - You're not - You aren't

He/She/It is not - He/She/It's not - He/She/It isn't

We are not - We're not - We aren't

You are not - You're not - You aren't

They are not - They're not - They aren't

Well, the hiffen and the other forms are shorter forms, that it's easier to use. Decore this, this is like the BASE of English. Some people write I aren't or You isn't or stuff. NO NO NO!!! It's I'm not and You aren't! So, make sure you know this in the point of your tongue! Okay? Okay! Now, interrogative:

Verb 'to be' - Interrogative Form

Am I?

Are you?

Is he/she/it?

Are we?

Are you?

Are they?

This one it's easier, right? BUT decorate in the same, okay? No things like Is they or Is you. Just a word: DECORATEDECORATEDECORATE! We'll now go to another basic verb. Verb 'have got'. Verb 'have got' it's the second basic verb, and you can't write a chapter without it. Unless it's a drabble.

Verb 'have got' - Affirmate Form

I have got

You have got

He/She/It has got

We have got

You have got

They have got

Another jackpot! People write He have or They has or stuff. NO NO NO! Make sure you know this too. Some times, people take out the 'got' and I'll not complain. It's perfectly correct. I also take the got. You can do it, but don't misspell verbs, that's not correct either. So, decorate this one too. Negative form it's not hard if you know the verb 'to be'.

Verb 'have got' - Negative Form

I have not got - I've not got - I haven't got

You have not got - You've not got - You haven't got

He/She/It has not got - He/She/It's not got - He/She/It hasn't got

Ok, done? No things like He haven't got or I hasn't got. It's easier to learn when we do, right? So, right after, homework! Correct ALL your verb 'to be' and verb 'have got' errors in your on-going fics but FIRST give me the link, so I can see your progress. I told ya to do it, so do it. Let's continue. Now Interrogative form.

Verb 'have got' - Interroagtive Form

Have I Got?

Have you got?

Has he/she/it got?

Have we got?

Have you got?

Have they got?

Well, this is the easiest thing I've ever seen in my WHOLE life, about English. And I had from 2nd to 7th grade of English. Decorate this, ok? Now, first, there's an important thing I'll mention before because I saw so many fics with this gramatic errors and I wanted to lection this topics first. Ok, when your sentence has an auxiliar verb, for example Taeyeon/do/love/Jessica, you can't put Taeyeon does loves Jessica, but Taeyeon does love Jessica. English isn't my first language, to be warned. So, you may put the 2nd verb (love) in the infinitive while the first (do) goes for the normal form. Understood?

Second, we'll also learn the verb 'do'. 'Do' is, sometimes, used as an answer. You saw for sure many answers like 'I do' in marriages. So, it is important. And it is used for things like, denying actions. For example, 'I don't love you'. It is necessary for those negative affirmations, but it isn't usually necessary for affirmative ones, because we don't say 'I do love you', we say 'I love you'. For answers, it is easy. So, decore this:

Verb 'do' - Affirmative Form:

I do

You do

He/She/It does

We do

You do

They do

Verb 'do' - Negative Form:

I do not (don't)

You do not (don't)

He/She/It does not (doesn't)

We do not (don't)

You do not (don't)

They do not (don't)

Verb 'do' - Interrogative Form

Do I?

Do you?

Does he/she/it?

Do we?

Do you?

Do they?

Ok, so the third person is the only one which's verb is a bit different, BUT you may decorate this. And, whenever we have 'does' in the sentence of the 3rd person, I think we should but the verb in the infinitive, as I lectioned before. Do is one of the most important verbs, because it is BASIC. Ok, as I said before, the sentence should be 'Taeyeon does love Jessica' and not 'Taeyeon does loves Jessica'. Understood? Okay, next!

There's a huge trouble with wrong grammars with adjectives of frequency and present with past and stuff. So, I'll make everything clear. Adverbs of frequency are words that describe frequency of how each action is done, for example: Jessica never liked cucumbers. Never it's an adverb of frequency, because it describes how often Jessica liked cucumbers. Which is never. And now: Onew always eats chicken. It describes how often Onew eats chicken. Which is 'always'. Here's a graphic I found about adverbs of frequency:

Okay, it is easy, right? So, you can save this graphic and open it whenever you want some help. For other words, it's kind of a cheat sheet. Ok, so next it's one of the most troublesome topics of English in AFF. Past, present and future. There's a thing called time which is very important. So make sure you read this damn part and stop making those stupid little errors. Little? NO!

Past - She read

Present - She reads (PS), She is reading (PC)

Future - She will read (she'll read)

PS stands for Present Simple and PC stands for Present Continuous. Present Simple it's the most simple form of the present. Present Continuous stands for actions which are running at the moment of speaking. These two forms are easy to difference and I think it was clear enough.

Clear right? No more Who's the girl that will married Sehun, right? This is future, so it's presented with infinitive verb, the 'will' did its job. In past, there are lots of irregular forms and I'll post them sooner or later. Just search on Google and make a list of them. Cool?

Ok, so last topic before going. I've done lots of research and I've noticed that there are some errors that I can't stand with (better than the last one). First one, there's peeps who switch the verb have got from the singular to the plural. It's very important to decore those verbs upper, because the 3rd singular person is the most switched one. There's such things like All the girls has a crush on Zhou Mi, but it's actually All the girls have a crush on Zhou Mi. So, make sure you go upper and remember the WHOLE forms.

Second, confusion with 'a' and 'an'. Those are both determinantes definites and they mean the same. BUT there's still a difference, I'm not myopic. Le difference: 'a' comes before a word which starts by consonants and 'an' comes before vogals or a mute 'h'. For example: I'm going to eat a plate of tteokbukki - I'm going to eat an apple. Understood?

Third, time. When you write foreword, you usually place character descriptions (although I don't recomend that). So, you're saying how the characters ARE, not how they WERE. They may change as the story goes on, BUT you're still saying how they are, starting by the beginning of the story. So, no thing as Tiffany was so nice and warm-hearted but she was so lonely until she meet Onew. Ok, Tiffany IS nice and warm-hearted but she IS lonely. Until she MET Onew. Understood? Try to understand these time stuff and watch tutorials on YouTube if you want. But, sincerely, I'm not here to teach you more.

Fourth, feminine and masculine. Sincerely, these errors surprise me. People say Jiyeon is JB's boyfriend but he usually gets angry by his boyfriend's cheating. Later, he met Jinwoon. His it's masculine and Her it's feminine. Simple. She it's feminine and He it's masculine. Easy. Him it's masculine and Her it's feminine. Basic. I don't heck know with people are talking about JB or Jiyeon. Or if they placed Jinwoon on the middle. So, this is clearly NOT acceptable.

Fifth, wrong verb choices. Like I saw things like 'I shouldn't have here' when it's 'I shouldn't be here'. This one it's so basic, that I'll step up. Ok, sixth. Time, PC and Past confusions, I seriously piss off when I see these little things: I'm regret by separating them - I shouldn't being here - Their separate it's my fault, stuff and stuff. First, I'll correct: I regret by separating them - I shouldn't be here - Their separation it's my fault. And seriously, please BASIC ENGLISH. Well, if you write these you should subscribe to this or other grammar tutorials.

Now, before I go, last thing. That, this, these, those, they seem the same, don't they? Well, let me explain: this and that are singular forms, we mean it by saying like This bag or That necklace. These and those are exactly the same, but in plural. Like what, These shoes or Those earrings. But there's a difference... This and these are used for stuff that are like in front of your nose, while That and those are used for stuff that have a respectable distance from you. I'll demonstrate with pics.

Are you recognizing some people behind? Ok, we say those people or, are you seing the girl there, at the corner? We say that girl.

See this beautiful pic of SNSD? Ok, we say these girls, since they're near us. Imagine, we're talking about Yoona. We say this girl. Because she's near us.

Understood? It's quite easy. I think I'm finished now. Maybe I'll update the writing chapter sooner or later. If you still have doubts about grammar, then check my stories and see what I'm talking about. For now, I guess it's a goodbye. See ya, folks!

Chapter 1: I have to make a few corrections here. First of all you used the wrong word. It's "lose" not "loose". A lot of people make that mistake, even English speakers. Also, what do you mean when you use the word decorate? There's nothing wrong with this sentence: "Jiyeon is JB's boyfriend but he usually gets angry by his boyfriend's cheating. Later, he met Jinwoon." It just sounds like a gay love story. Unless one of them is a girl then your correction would apply. Otherwise, I fail to see how. I do think it's great that you're doing this though. There's too many people out there who are putting out stories with bad grammar and it can be a pain to read. Some people do know how to correct there stuff but they always say they were "too lazy". It's really annoying.
