Meeting Fate in the Transit Bus
Description
"Do you know where this bus leads to?"
"You don’t know where you’re going?" The obscure stranger bewildered; his eyebrows raised in astonishment. How cute.
I didn’t answer, and he got the hint.
"Okay, well, we’re heading to Neverland." The boy remarked with a smirk. It made me smile with how contagious it was.
"Clever. It won’t matter whether you tell me or not anyway. I’ll find out soon."
"To go where we’re heading? Not for a while." He paused, "You honestly don’t know where this bus is going to?"
I examined his thin lips and immediately looked the other way when realizing how awkward I am for my own well being. "No, I was in a rush."
"So if you were rushing, you wouldn’t know if you were actually being kidnapped by a taxi driver?"
"Not necessarily. That hasn’t happened yet so I don’t know." I blinked. Wow, that was stupid of me to say.
"Dare I ask, but…you have a suitcase with you. Don’t tell me you’ve run away?" He was hesitant, but enough to start an interrogation. I concluded that he might not be the same age as me. He gave off this certain feeling—one you’d get from a leader or an older sibling.
"What’s your name?" It was an instinct for me to avoid the topic.
"You’re crying…"
"Am I?" I scrunched my eyebrows in disbelief and gasped when I touched my cheek. He was right.
Foreword
There are time when we feel lost, and it's a natural instinct to hide ourselves from the truths of the world when that time comes. We choose to bury ourselves in lies and hate, in order to feel normal and loved. When all else fails, follow fate.
