Foreword

The blue sky is one of many reasons why Chanyeol loves the Earth more than the planet where he was born. Unlike the Earth, the skies in the Olympus are white in the daylight and pitch black in the night. It is colorless, plain and boring, unlike ones in the Earth which look like innocent drawings made by kids upon a blue canvas. He likes to look up to the sky when he is in that planet, watching the scattered clouds moving in slow but steady motion. Even though most of the clouds look like huge lumps of cotton candies, oftentimes he finds some of them look like a rabbit, a bear, or any other fluffy animals. Not that he knew any of those animals before, though; it was Jiaheng who taught and showed him how animals in his planet look like.

Chanyeol finds himself smiling when he remembers that guy. Li Jiaheng, the main reason of why he keeps coming back to that beautiful small planet even after centuries have passed.

He looks at his own reflection in the morning. He is adorned in a yellow cardigan upon a thin white tee, tan slacks, and a pair of blue sneakers; he took a look at what guys on Earth wear these days yesterday, because he doesn’t want to appear in front of his soulmate look like a walking fashion disaster.

He hears someone opens his room door and walks in. He glances over the mirror and he can see his half brother, Jongdae, is standing behind him.

“Earth again?” asks Jongdae, peering from his back and looking at the mirror; although he is a few months older than Chanyeol, his petite figure doesn’t look like it.

“Yeah, it’s time already,” Chanyeol answers and smiles when Jongdae is helping him tidy his attire.

“Isn’t it too fast? You usually went there after 27 years,” Jongdae looks up and faces him with worry expression.

This time, Chanyeol forms a sad smile. “Something happens.” He brings Jongdae’s hand and holds it to his right chest. “This.”

Jongdae gasps. “Is he…?”

Chanyeol nods, “Yeah. That’s why I have to go now, before it’s too late.” He walks away from Jongdae and leaves his room, but he halts his step and turns around to see his brother again. “Have you seen Baekhyun?”

Jongdae smiles, “You know where he is right now.”

Chanyeol finds his other brother in the back garden, sitting on a wooden bench and looking up to the untainted white sky. He looks like a broken puppet losing its strands; passive, not moving, not responding. But Chanyeol likes to analogue him with a porcelain doll, because even after years of suffering Baekhyun still looks as beautiful as he remembers ages ago; pale white skin, smooth brown locks, red small lips and small body figure. Only for now, the spirit and passion in his eyes have died. He is just a pretty doll without a soul.

“Baekhyun,” Chanyeol calls his name softly, hugging the petite guy around his shoulder and resting his head against it before holding his hand. Baekhyun is still unresponsive. “I’m going to the Earth now. Something happens to Jiaheng and I have to go there faster than usual.”

Chanyeol can feel Baekhyun’s finger twitches in his soft grip; he is reacting to the name of Earth. He continues, “I’ll try to get Zitao, I promise. When I find him, I’ll contact Jongdae and ask him to bring you there. You will meet him again soon, you hear me?”

Baekhyun doesn’t answer, but Chanyeol doesn’t expect him to do otherwise. He releases his brother and settles him back to the bench, but he feels Baekhyun holds his hand back. He is looking at him now instead of the sky, but his eyes are still as empty as before. Chanyeol pats his head softly before untangling their hands, “You’ll come with me later. For now, please don’t lose your hope.”

The travel to the Earth never takes a long time. With the speed of light, he can reach his destination in 2 hours. He lands on an abandoned park between building complexes which he is sure that the buildings are called apartments. He pats his pants clean and combs his curly golden hair with his fingers. After he finishes checking whether or not his appearance is decent enough, he leaves the park and walks down the city street.

Eventually he learns that he is in Seoul, the capital city of a country named South Korea. He also acknowledges that the world has drastically changed in the past 30 years; woods being replaced with buildings and small parks. The shape of cars has been different from what Chanyeol had seen before, and clothing style of the youths has changed, too. He looks around the city scene in front of his eyes with amazement, because the Earth has improved and he likes change.

He wonders how Jiaheng looks like now. He knows that he will meet the younger version of him because he comes earlier than he used to, and he’s excited about it. But he can’t stop his sad smile to form when he remembers the reason of why he comes over 5 years earlier. He just hopes that he’s not too late.

He checks on the device around his wrist —humans will mistake it as a wristwatch— and pushes the side button of it. He doesn’t need that device actually, and Jongdae invented it from the first place for Baekhyun, but he admits that it is quite helpful. He pushes the button once again and small letters blink on the screen.

Chanyeol pushes another button and the device turns off. He continues walking down the street with the direction given by his small heart.
