I coughed harshly, the pain racking my core. I was seeming to fall into an abyss with the plain white walls I’d been staring at for the past hours. I kept blinking quickly to keep myself from going to sleep. I was sure I had a concussion, so that wasn’t an option. The hospital bed was uncomfortable beneath me, so that helped. I was told I would be “cured soon.” I didn’t see how they could just cure a stab wound right next to the heart, but I wasn’t going to complain about speedy treatment.
