Chapter 9

You close your eyes as you felt the fresh wind caress your face, the ice princess… she's finally starting to waver… your eyes opened and you sighed at the thought of it,

You were at your haven, the same place where Yeonul found you complaining about the BP's appearance in school, the same place where you cried remembering what happened in the past that made you who you were,

How could those six boys change the way on how you see things unconsciously, you have never let anyone affect you that much, not even Yeonul could get rid of your infamous icy glare,

But maybe they were different, what if they were really there as friends, I mean.. just because they were staying at your house with your fathers consent doesn’t mean they'll trick you, right?

Wrong, the very fact that it was your father who approved their stay at the mansion was the reason you were uneasy with them in the first place, you can't trust any person your father sends, it would only lead to your fall, just like what happened when you were still a kid,

you were fooled twice, you can't be fooled again…

(FLASHBACK)

A month after her mother's death, 7 year old Seolhyun became distant, her once lively eyes became lifeless orbs, not a single laughter escaped from , and her once infectious smile were never seen again,

she became shy and easily embarrassed, she didn't like being noticed by others, the elders gave her attention so they would look good in her father's eyes,

"We need to treat her well… "

"Ah, yes, the president will think good of us"

"He might even give us a good amount of money as a reward… "

"Or maybe a high ranking position at the company!"

 Seolhyun heard them whispering as she hid herself behind the wall, their laughter disgusted her, she was still a child but that much she could understand, she was not going to be used!

after that she didn't talk to anyone, not even the elders whom her mother considered as friends, and then she became lonely but that was until his father introduced her to someone…

"Annyeong! Im Choi Minyong!" the girl said cheerfully, she had beautiful, brown locks of hair that were tied into pigtails, her eyes were black and big, and she wore the friendliest smile,

"What's your name?" Minyong asked, her eyes seemed to show excitement,

"A-annyeong, Im Han Seolhyun…" Seolhyun introduced herself shyly,

"That’s a pretty name!" Minyong voiced and her cheeks heat up feeling embarrassed at the compliment,

"A-ani, your's is prettier!" Seolhyun insisted, Minyong gave let out a contagious laugh that made her smile for the first time,

"You'll play with me, right?" Minyong smiled as she held her hand,

"Sure" Seolhyun nodded smiling back,

Seolhyun thought she found a friend in Minyong and though it was a slow process, she started to go back to her usual self, they became friends for a year and it ended on her 8th birthday, just after the party her dad had gave her,

It was already night time, but she couldn't sleep so she thought a glass of milk would help her, her door creaked as she opened it and she tried to be silent while walking along the hallway,

She saw light coming from his father's private office, she heard murmurs from the room, maybe his father was having a private meeting with some businessmen, she thought, she was about to pass by when she heard Minyong's name,

She approached the door and took a peek, his father was talking with Minyong's parents, she smiled, they were very nice to her,

"Ah, yes, Minyong has been very nice to my daughter… " Mr.Han smiled and drank a glass of wine "I've never seen Seolhyun smile a lot since my wife's death… " he continued,

"Minyong did tell me that she was already close with Seolhyun… " Minyong's mother smiled back while pouring wine to his husband's glass,

"So.. when will we expect the payment Mr. Han? Seolhyun and Minyong have been friends for a year..." Mr. Choi asked greedily,

"We've agreed about the payment after a year right?" Minyong's mother added,

"Ah, yes, I've already arranged it, the money has been transferred to Mr. Choi's account this morning… " Mr. Han said firmly, placing his glass on the table,

"Well, It was nice having business with you Mr. Han…"

Seolhyun's eye turned to slits after hearing the word that came out from Mr. Choi's mouth, "business"… her friendship with Minyong was just business?!, her jaw clenched and her hand curled up into a fist,

She watched them laugh like there was nothing wrong with what they did, Minyong's mother accidentally looked at her direction, and their eyes met, Minyong's mom let out a surprised gasp that made Mr. Han and Mr. Choi glance at the door,

"S-Seolhyun… honey, how long have you been there… " Mr. Han asked as he approach her, a smile formed on his lips suppressing the nervous look on his face

"A couple of minutes ago… long enough to hear the truth" Seolhyun answered coldly, stunning them,

Mrs. Choi spoke trying to calm the situation "A-ani, Seolhyun-shii, you've misunderstood-"

"Stop it, don't lie!" Seolhyun's words echoed through the walls of his father's office,

her tears started to trickle down her cheeks, "Does Minyong know?" she asked,

"M-muh?" Mrs. Choi stuttered in puzzlement,

"Was our friendship all an act for her?" she asked, her eyes met Minyong's mother and immediately she knew the answer, Minyong didn't see her as a friend, she has been deceiving her for a year,

"Honey… I'm sure Minyong sees you as a friend… " Mr. Han voiced to calm her daughter, he was about to approach her when she suddenly moved a step back,

Seolhyun glared at him with hate, how could his father agree to such a thing!, and yet she couldn't do anything, he was still her father, and the only family she had left,

"I don't want to see her anymore!" she cried,

"B-But, Seolhyun-shii, shes your fri-"

"Minyong's not my friend!" she yelled, cutting Mr. Choi's sentence "She lied to me!" she said for the last time and ran off to her room locking the door, she sat on the corner of her room, hugging her knees,

she heard her father's voice followed by the pleading of Minyong's parents, but she didn't want to listen, she had learned enough, she couldn't trust anyone, not even those with the friendliest smiles,

after a few minutes, the knocking finally stopped, they were gone, but she stayed on the corner of her room, until her eyes became heavy and she drifted off to sleep…

(END OF FLASHBACK)

Kwangmin couldn’t help but smile, there she was, the ice princess, Seolhyun was sitting on the green grass, her back leaning on a trees trunk, she seemed asleep, looking at her from afar, he couldn't help but admire her, she was beautiful even from afar,

He kept silent as he approached her, and then he kneeled on one knee just so he could see her face more clearly,

"So this is where the Ice princess goes when she wants to be alone…" he uttered, his hand unconsciously brushed the strands of hair that covered Seolhyun's angelic face,

"How careless could you be?" he told her, even though he knew she couldn't hear, the place doesn't seem to be a popular spot on the campus but it was still dangerous for a girl like her to sleep there,

Kwangmin shook his head in disbelief, "You're relying on your title too much, Ice Princess" he said as he sat beside her "You are still a girl afterall, no matter how cold you act" he continued,

"Boys could still take advantage of you…" he chuckled " and your-", Seolhyun's sudden movement made his eyes widen and his mouth shut, Kwangmin stared at the girl beside her, her head was now resting on his shoulders and he couldn't help but notice the sudden crazy movement his heart made in his chest,

Kwangmin looked away, his ears were red with embarrassment,

"I-I see…" he uttered "Well… You could rely on me- I mean us for help… "
