Out of the ruins rose Callisto, a nation ruled by Earth’s newest immigrants: a group of powerful beings called the Invictus and the rest of its kind. The post-apocalyptic world’s leaders are malicious and vindictive, and falling for the promises of a prosperous world, humans are made prisoners of Invictus and its authoritative and militaristic regime.

When Kaya opens her eyes to blinding white light, the only thing she can think about is her pounding headache. She has no remembrance of how she got there, where she came from, and who she is. After her eyes adjust, she sees a man wearing a white coat who welcomes her to the Institute.

Just as Kaya begins adjusting to her new life, secrets about her and the world she lives in begin to unravel.

And when a boy named Kai becomes involved, Kaya begins to think that her life may not be as true as she thinks.
