Her tears trailed down her cheeks as she stared at the wilted flowers. They had once been white chrysanthemums. Who gives white chrysanthemums on Valentine’s day? She always thought of them as flowers for the dearly departed. She remembered feeling so elated to receive flowers for the first time; she didn’t care if they were for the dead.

A/N: This story was written years ago and I just thought of posting it after reading that chrysanthemum is the birth flower for Scorpios (apparently TOP is a scorpio). Anyways this story is nonKpop related. The main character is unnamed (again). 

As per wiki, in some countries of Europe (e.g., France, Italy, Spain, Poland, Croatia), chrysanthemums are symbolic of death and are only used for funerals or on graves - similarly, in China, Japan and Korea, white chrysanthemums are symbolic of lamentation and/or grief. I didn't know this before I wrote the story, it's just that where I'm from chrysanthemums are usually present on wreaths given to the dead. Does this story seem too early for Halloween?
